Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Layla is a shy, gentle dog who will need a patient family willing to earn her trust and work with her at her own pace. She would thrive with another small dog in the home and needs a securely fenced yard to explore safely. Layla is good with cats but is not recommended for a home with young children. With time, love, and consistency, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. REQUIREMENTS: Another small dog,  Fenced Yard Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Here is the Duke. This chunk of a boy is seeking his forever home. A bit camera shy, but a truly sweet dog. He is coming up on 11 years of age- a bit of greying and arthritis but loves his naps, walking sniffs around the yard at his leisure. Weighs 64# currently. Need to lose 10#. Good with other dogs- fed separately due to he likes to make sure all bowls are empty. No food aggression noted. Loves to lay on couch and get loving while binging shows. He is a Strong boy, enjoys chewing on his toy and napping. Needs a diet program to lessen joint issues and a joint supplement may help too. Well-mannered and friendly. Suggest a no cat home- he is very reactive when sees cats through baby gate. He will retrieve his leash and will carry when walked. He is good at vet office, and car rides. Must be lifted in and out of autos. He has a very deep bark- not vocal just joins in with others. Current on shots (due 6/2026)and preventatives. If you are ready to give this senior boy a loving home to live out his golden years, apply now https://forms.gle/LDjduj2zTk7vvmHU7 Duke is being fostered in Littlestown, PA Pa LIC #17216

Story
Meet King: King is about a 1 year old (as of April  2026) bulldog mix (best guess) that weighs 30 pounds. King was brought into an animal shelter in March of 2026. King was underweight and assessed as needing an ulnar osteotomy, which is an operation to shorten the front leg bones. Due to this, he was passed over at the shelter and was put on the euthanasia list. Our rescue was able to step in and get him into a foster home and have a further consultation with the doggie orthopedic surgeons. The additional consult revealed that the surgery was not necessary unless King was in pain and he is not showing any signs of pain. The orthopedist believes King will be good just as is and does that any limitations.   King is currently being fostered in the Lutherville-Timonium, MD area and would love to meet his forever family. King’s personality is one of a happy and extremely affectionate companion who loves to be close to someone. King loves to be pet and receive affection from his humans. King is not built for jumping, but is happiest when he can be picked up and lifted onto a couch or chair to snuggle up. King gets along well with other dogs and can be a raucous playmate to the young puppies in the house. King knows how to walk well on a leash. He will require patience as he continues to work on his house training. We would love for King to have a home with a fenced in yard so he can play freely, but it’s not a requirement. King is up to date on his shots and neutered. If you are interested in adding this low-riding, cuddle buddy into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application.   CURRENT LOCATION: Foster home in Lutherville-Timonium, MD 21093 Kennel License #17584 ##2703384##

Story
This 9 month old cutie is Rock! He is a Pomeranian and Boston terrier mix. He is shy and reserved at first, but is very sweet. He does well with other dogs and may do best with another dog in the home to help him build confidence. He has no history with cats. He lived with children in his previous home but because of his sensitive nature he would do best with older children that will give him his space until he is comfortable.  Rock is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. He is available for adoption at the Pet Pantry's main facility, 26 Millersville Road, Lancaster. If you think he may be the perfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application!
