Story
I got Gizmo as a puppy. Since I have gotten him, I have had to have multiple foot surgeries and have been unable to provide him with the training and physical exercise he needs. Gizmo is a stubborn and sassy dog who loves to play. Sometimes he tries to playfully bite your hand. When he does this, I tell him to go get a toy and he typically does listen to that. Sometimes he likes to have his own time and sometimes he likes to be as close to you as possible. He has a difficult time respecting the space of others, including pets and children. He can be very vocal. He doesn’t like to be left alone. In terms of house training, I have trained him to use a doorbell to go out. Sometimes he doesn’t want to go out when it’s raining, but he loves the snow. I do have an issue with him marking and sometimes he does do this in the house.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Layla is a shy, gentle dog who will need a patient family willing to earn her trust and work with her at her own pace. She would thrive with another small dog in the home and needs a securely fenced yard to explore safely. Layla is good with cats but is not recommended for a home with young children. With time, love, and consistency, she will blossom into a loyal and loving companion. REQUIREMENTS: Another small dog,  Fenced Yard Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Lily the Chug Are you looking for a small bundle of energy full of love, antics, & sass to liven up your home? Then look no farther than Lily the chug (3/4 pug, 1/4 chihuahua with a whole lotta chi attitude)! This long legged, grumpy faced little minx has adorable ears that either stand up at attention or rest crossed atop her head. Her overbite, often with her lip stuck on her teefers gives her adorable expressions. Lily has no enemies, loving to play-play-play with dogs & people of all ages & sizes. At her foster mom’s house, she cavorts with a 90# Great Pyrenees as much as she does with a pair of pugs. She’d also like to play with the cats, but she is too hyper for them & gets swatted. Lily does calm down to cuddle & actively seeks attention. Lily was a neglected outdoor pup until her surrender to God’s Dogs Rescue, so is still working on her housebreaking. She almost has it down pat with use of a doggy door. You will never experience a dull moment with this petite cutie in your life! Attributes: Housebreaking in progress. Good with doggie door HIGH energy Local adoption fee is $350(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Kane: Kane is about a 5 year old (as of August 2026) Shih Tzu / pug mix (best guess) that weighs about 10 pounds. Kane was surrendered to a northern Mississippi shelter by his owner. Kane was terribly matted and wasn't terribly fond of being touched when he was dropped off. Our guess is the owner didn't want to pay for a grooming and preferred to surrender him instead and he was very uncomfortable. Kane is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Kane went to a groomer immediately and is now all cleaned up and comfortable. Once Kane was groomed and situated, he turned into a very affectionate little lap dog that is not the least bit reluctant to being touched or petted or even staying put for the groomer. Kane is a wonderful little dog that gets along with everyone and every dog. Kane will need grooming throughout his life and we want to be sure his new family understands that so he doesn’t endure the discomfort he went through in the past. Kane is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need patience while learning a new process. We would love for Kane to have a home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play freely, but it is not a requirement. Kane is up to date on his shots and neutered. If you are interested in an adding this cute little guy into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application.
