Story
Lennon is a mix of beagle and pug, but one thing is for sure - he has a lot to say! Lennon will need a home that can help him work on his reactivity when he sees other dogs. Lennon has met other dogs while here at the VBSPCA, and while he can be awkward, he coexisted just fine. However Lennon does have some barrier reactivity which will need some work. Adopters should be prepared to work on this on their own or with professional support. We have a great list of trainers we recommend. We highly recommend Lennon as an only pet, but if you have a dog in your home, discuss with our kennel team if this could be a possibility. Lennon will also need a home with teenagers 16 and up or an adult only home. While Lennon may need a little work on his socialization with other dogs, he loves people! Additionally, Lennon has been known to have a sensitive stomach at times, so adopters should be prepared. Lennon has a big personality with lots to say, so if you`re looking for a short king in your life, Lennon is for you!

Story
Precious is a sweet, playful senior girl with a big personality and an even bigger love for toys. She almost always has a toy in her mouth-even as she's drifting off to sleep! Squeaky toys are her absolute favorite, and nothing makes her happier than curling up in bed with one.She currently lives with two dogs and a cat. While she's occasionally curious about the cat, she mostly ignores him. Around other dogs, she enjoys playing but can be a little possessive of toys, often trying to claim them for herself. She also loves bones so much that her goal is to collect them all and hide them, so she does best enjoying them in her crate. She eats well alongside other dogs and has no issues at mealtime.Precious is a loyal companion who loves being close to her people. She follows her foster everywhere and prefers her special person to accompany her outside, often waiting at the door rather than going out with someone else. She's happiest when she's by your side. She is still working on her house-training. She doesn't consistently signal when she needs to go outside, and her foster has been taking out routinely to help. She's also been dealing with a UTI, which has contributed to accidents. Her foster has also noticed that her back legs have seemed a little weaker after spending longer periods crated, though she does much better when she's up and moving around.Overall, Precious is an amazing girl. She has a loving heart, a playful spirit, and will thrive with a family that understands her quirks and is ready to shower her with love, toys, and plenty of quality time. Story
Meet Rory 🐾 Rory is an 8–9-year-old pug with the sweetest, personality. He’s great with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and is happiest simply being near his people. Whether he’s curled up at your feet or snoozing under a desk while you work, Rory is the definition of a loyal companion. He enjoys toys from time to time, but at this stage in life, he much prefers lounging and soaking up a calm, cozy environment. Rory absolutely loves food (as most pugs do!), and we’ve been working on his manners, especially resisting the urge to pop up when people are eating. He can also be a little grumpy if you try to take food from him or if you try to cut his nails so we’re working on that as well. Rory would likely thrive in a home where someone is around for a good portion of the day, as he truly enjoys companionship, though he does handle being left alone just fine. He has made great progress with marking behavior, and we are hopeful that now that he is neutered this will help resolve this completely. A quick but important note for anyone considering adopting Rory, or any pug: this breed can be high-maintenance. Pugs are prone to skin conditions, spinal problems, eye issues, and breathing challenges, so it’s important to be prepared for potential extra care, cost, and vet needs. Doing your research on the breed is essential to ensure it’s the right fit for your lifestyle. Rory is a loving, laid-back little guy who is ready to find a home where he can relax, be adored, and spend his days close to his people.

Story
Meet Murphy (Bonded with Macy) ❤️ These two distinguished seniors are looking for a soft place to land and a family willing to appreciate the finer things in life: sunshine, snacks, and naps. Murphy, an almost 11yo Chihuahua mix, was originally adopted from our rescue many years ago. Macy, a 12yo Brussels Griffon mix, joined that family later after being rescued from an abusive situation. When their beloved owner suddenly passed away, both dogs were surrendered to a shelter. We were contacted to get Murphy back, as required by our adoption agreement, but there was no chance we were leaving Macy behind. These two are a package deal, and that's exactly how they arrived. Weighing in at about 8 pounds each, these tiny retirees have been through a lot. Losing their mom and adjusting to a shelter and then a new foster home was overwhelming, but they're settling in nicely and figuring out their new routine. They're good eaters, mostly housebroken, travel well in the car, walk reasonably well on leash, tolerate crates without filing formal complaints, and get along with small, submissive dogs and cats. Both are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vet care, and recently had dental work. Between the two of them, they still have a respectable collection of teeth. They are good sleepers and are both pretty quiet unless there is something to actually bark at (sorry Amazon delivery people). Of course, senior dogs come with a few senior-dog quirks. Murphy gets around pretty well, although his back legs aren't quite what they used to be. He enjoys puttering around a fenced yard, soaking up the sunshine, and spending quality time snuggled next to his favorite person. He's generally a sweet little guy, but every now and then his inner grumpy old man makes an appearance. He believes his cuddle spot is prime real estate and isn't afraid to show it. Macy prefers life in the slow lane. She enjoys leisurely strolls around the yard, relaxing, and quietly judging the neighborhood from a comfortable vantage point. She's not as cuddly as Murphy, but she enjoys attention and affection on her own terms. Most of the time she's a lovely little lady, but occasionally she channels her cranky grandma energy. Are they bonded? Yes. We'd love to see them spend their golden years together, enjoying a life filled with comfort, routine, and plenty of love. We're searching for a quiet, patient home where Macy and Murphy can truly relax. Young children and a busy, high-energy environment aren't the best fit for these seasoned pups. While they're getting around fine now, a home with lots of stairs may require some accommodations as they continue their journey through retirement. If you're looking for a pair of tiny companions without any of that puppy nonsense, Macy and Murphy may be your perfect match. You can fill out an application on our website: www.homesfurhounds.org

Meet Opal! Opal came to us when she was only a couple weeks old and is now ready to find her forever home! Opal was able to be in a couple of foster homes and did great with the dogs and chickens! Slow introductions are always recommended when meeting new people or canine companions. Opal loves to romp around and play with her siblings. Opal is brachycephalic and breed experience is appreciated but not required. A kennel staff member can explain more about brachycephalic traits. She will need help with all of her puppy training like manners, crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. If you are interested in this cuddle bug a Kennel Technician will be happy to help!**Opal is a Pit Bull mix and adopters that are renting should be aware of any breed restrictions

Story
Meet Tigers Eye! Tigers Eye came to us with her young pups and was a great mom but she is now ready to be the baby! Tigers Eye was able to be in a foster home and did great with the other dogs and chickens! Tigers Eye loved to play and run around with her pups outside. Slow introductions are always recommended when meeting new people or canine companions. Tigers Eye can be a bit wary of strangers and new people in her space at first but she warms up fast, so we do recommend any kids at home are 6 years or older, and we definitely encourage everyone in the home to meet her, so she can warm up before going home! If you have a dog already at home, we will require a meet and greet prior to adoption. Tigers Eye is a bit brachycephalic, and breed experience is appreciated but not required. A kennel staff member can explain more about brachycephalic traits. Tiger is a real gem and if you think she will make a great addition to your family a Kennel Technician will be happy to help!**Tigers Eye is a Pit Bull mix and adopters that are renting should be aware of any breed restrictions
