She has an appointment in 3 weeks with a cardiologist. This will need to be addressed and see what options there are for treatment. More to come on this sweet girl.   Update: I am finally over my pneumonia after 2 rounds of antibiotics. I do have severe collapsed trachea and will be on prescription medication for my cough for life. I am still very selective on my eating so my foster mom is working on that. The plan is for my spay with a doctor that is experienced with dogs with collapsed trachea. Once this is done and I am medically cleared my foster mom will go through all the applications for me to select the best possible home for me.  Ava is a 7.6 year old black pug. She has an upper respiratory infection or early pneumonia, and bilateral ear infections. We are concentrating on making her well. Its hard to learn their personality with they come in sick. Ava was bulled in her last home so she fearful of other dogs. She would be best as an only dog or a home with an older dog her size that will give her space.  Ava will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on routine shots, heartworm negative and current on prevention prior to adoption. Story
Lennon is a mix of beagle and pug, but one thing is for sure - he has a lot to say! Lennon will need a home that can help him work on his reactivity when he sees other dogs. Lennon has met other dogs while here at the VBSPCA, and while he can be awkward, he coexisted just fine. However Lennon does have some barrier reactivity which will need some work. Adopters should be prepared to work on this on their own or with professional support. We have a great list of trainers we recommend. We highly recommend Lennon as an only pet, but if you have a dog in your home, discuss with our kennel team if this could be a possibility. Lennon will also need a home with teenagers 16 and up or an adult only home. While Lennon may need a little work on his socialization with other dogs, he loves people! Additionally, Lennon has been known to have a sensitive stomach at times, so adopters should be prepared. Lennon has a big personality with lots to say, so if you`re looking for a short king in your life, Lennon is for you!

Story
Precious is a sweet, playful senior girl with a big personality and an even bigger love for toys. She almost always has a toy in her mouth-even as she's drifting off to sleep! Squeaky toys are her absolute favorite, and nothing makes her happier than curling up in bed with one.She currently lives with two dogs and a cat. While she's occasionally curious about the cat, she mostly ignores him. Around other dogs, she enjoys playing but can be a little possessive of toys, often trying to claim them for herself. She also loves bones so much that her goal is to collect them all and hide them, so she does best enjoying them in her crate. She eats well alongside other dogs and has no issues at mealtime.Precious is a loyal companion who loves being close to her people. She follows her foster everywhere and prefers her special person to accompany her outside, often waiting at the door rather than going out with someone else. She's happiest when she's by your side. She is still working on her house-training. She doesn't consistently signal when she needs to go outside, and her foster has been taking out routinely to help. She's also been dealing with a UTI, which has contributed to accidents. Her foster has also noticed that her back legs have seemed a little weaker after spending longer periods crated, though she does much better when she's up and moving around.Overall, Precious is an amazing girl. She has a loving heart, a playful spirit, and will thrive with a family that understands her quirks and is ready to shower her with love, toys, and plenty of quality time. Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 60.8 Age: 13yrs 1mths 3wks

Story
Meet Jelly Bean! 🩷🐾 If happiness had a face, it would be Jelly Bean's. This adorable 2-year-old Pug wakes up every day convinced the world is full of friends she just hasn't met yet. Whether it's adults, kids, other dogs, or complete strangers, Jelly Bean greets everyone with a wagging tail and an infectious smile. She absolutely ADORES children and would make an incredible family companion. Jelly Bean was born with severe hip dysplasia, but here's the amazing part—you'd never know it. She runs, plays, and enjoys life just like any other young dog. Right now, the only thing she needs is to stay at a healthy, lean weight and continue taking her joint supplements to help protect her hips for years to come. As she gets older, there's a chance she may benefit from pain medication to keep her comfortable—but honestly, that's true for many dogs (and plenty of people, too!). It doesn't define her, and it certainly doesn't slow her down. Jelly Bean is looking for a family who sees her for who she is: a joyful, loving little Pug with a heart far bigger than her tiny body. If you're searching for a best friend who will happily tag along on adventures, snuggle with the kids, and brighten every single day, Jelly Bean is ready to steal your heart.

Story
Meet Rory 🐾 Rory is an 8–9-year-old pug with the sweetest, personality. He’s great with kids, gets along well with other dogs, and is happiest simply being near his people. Whether he’s curled up at your feet or snoozing under a desk while you work, Rory is the definition of a loyal companion. He enjoys toys from time to time, but at this stage in life, he much prefers lounging and soaking up a calm, cozy environment. Rory absolutely loves food (as most pugs do!), and we’ve been working on his manners, especially resisting the urge to pop up when people are eating. He can also be a little grumpy if you try to take food from him or if you try to cut his nails so we’re working on that as well. Rory would likely thrive in a home where someone is around for a good portion of the day, as he truly enjoys companionship, though he does handle being left alone just fine. He has made great progress with marking behavior, and we are hopeful that now that he is neutered this will help resolve this completely. A quick but important note for anyone considering adopting Rory, or any pug: this breed can be high-maintenance. Pugs are prone to skin conditions, spinal problems, eye issues, and breathing challenges, so it’s important to be prepared for potential extra care, cost, and vet needs. Doing your research on the breed is essential to ensure it’s the right fit for your lifestyle. Rory is a loving, laid-back little guy who is ready to find a home where he can relax, be adored, and spend his days close to his people.

Story
Hammerhead is currently enjoying life in a foster home while he waits for his forever family! This handsome boy is full of personality and is looking for an adopter who will appreciate his playful spirit and continue helping him be his best self.Hammerhead is highly treat-motivated, making him eager to learn and a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. He has made wonderful progress with his house training since arriving in foster care and continues to build on those good habits. He also settles in a crate for short periods when needed.A true toy enthusiast, Hammerhead loves stuffed toys especially giving them a good shake! He enjoys playtime and benefits from appropriate outlets for his energy.Because Hammerhead can become very mouthy when excited, we recommend a home without small children. He is also looking for a home where he can be the only pet, as he does not do well with other dogs.Hammerhead is searching for a patient, committed family that will continue his training while providing the love, structure, and enrichment he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a fun loving personality, Hammerhead is ready to meet you! Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 43
