Story
2.5 years old Al & Joe are buddies who can be adopted together or separately. They are both Full of Love & Personality 🐾💙 Al and Joe are not biological brothers, but they became besties at the high kill shelter where they were both rescued from. These two bring the perfect mix of playful energy and affectionate companionship! Joe is the more confident of the duo. He’s bouncy, fun-loving, and full of energy—always ready to run, play, and enjoy life to the fullest. While he hasn’t quite figured out fetch yet, he makes up for it with his enthusiasm and playful spirit, as he runs alongside Al, who loves to play fetch. Al is a bit more timid but incredibly loving. He thrives on affection and is happiest soaking up attention from his people. He loves toys—especially fetch—and will gladly be your playtime buddy before curling up on the couch for some well-earned snuggles. Together, they balance each other beautifully. They are both : * ✔️ Potty trained & crate trained * ✔️ Know some basic commands * ✔️ No resource guarding * ✔️ No anxiety issues * ✔️ Not skittish and not barkers (except when the UPS truck stops by) * ✔️ Very food motivated (great for training!) Their ideal home must have a secure yard where Joe can run and play and a family ready for double the love and companionship. Al and Joe are affectionate, people-friendly pups who enjoy being around their humans. After playtime, they’re happy to relax on the couch and just be part of the family. If you’re looking for a pair that brings both fun energy and sweet companionship, Al and Joe are your perfect match. Keeping them together means giving them—and yourself—the best of both worlds. Adopt Al & Joe and get twice the love, loyalty, and joy 💙🐾 Al and Joe are both neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated pups who are kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. They are currently being fostered in Houston but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home. Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. To meet these amazing pups via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Their adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a high quality collar, harness and leash. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
🐾 Meet Shania — A Tiny Pug-Poodle X Boston Mix With a Huge Heart! ❤️ Shania is a beautiful, petite young girl who has already come a long way on her journey to a brighter future. Shania was rescued at the eleventh hour from an overcrowded kill shelter. she was left there to be euthanized due to overcrowding after surviving significant cruelty, abuse, and neglect. We have provided spay, vaccines, medical care for her chemical burns/wounds, and given her guidance, training, socialization, and lots of love - She has done very well in her foster home with dogs of all sizes and on walks and play dates with volunteers, Shania has made an extraordinary transformation. Although areas of her fur may never fully grow back, that doesn’t stop her from living life of enthusiasm, companionship, love, and joy. Once she got comfortable with care and kindness, she has blossomed into an affectionate little sweetheart who loves life, enjoys snuggling in your lap, giving gentle kisses, and soaking up all the attention she can get. She is crate-trained, doing very well with her housebreaking routine, and continues to learn quickly. Shania has a bright spirit, a soft heart, and so much love to give to the right family. 🏡 Adoption Process To adopt, we require: A completed application Veterinary references Applicant Info verification A home visit Once application is verified, we will speak vet & with applicants by phone, then if all seems right we will schedule an in person meet-and-greet ie: potential adoption day with you and your family (including any resident dogs), with Shania here in Southern Vermont. Please note: We do not have a brick-and-mortar facility. All meet-and-greet appointments are reserved for verified, pre-screened applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please submit your application as soon as possible. Be sure to contact your veterinarian to give them permission for our volunteer verification team to speak with them/discuss your prior vet history. A Few Important Notes We are an all-volunteer, part-time rescue. Every volunteer works full-time jobs, manages families, transports animals, handles behind-the-scenes rescue work, and many of us foster dogs as well. PLEASE NOTE pet rescue emergencies take priority over email, so we kindly ask for your patience. We do not offer “foster-to-adopt.” All dogs listed are already in loving foster homes. When inquiring, please include your first and last name, the dog’s name, and your city/state and phone number (if you do not include your full name, your city, state, area code and phone number you will not receive a reply) We adopt primarily to Vermont and New Hampshire (nearby areas may be considered on a case-by-case basis). Verified applicants doggy meet-and-greets/adoptions take place by appointment in Southern Vermont on Saturday mornings. Note: We are not 1st come 1st adopted; we may accept multiple applications for a dog to ensure the best possible match based on activity level, personality, training needs, and lifestyle. Our Lifelong Commitment We love our rescued dogs deeply, and we’re thrilled that you’re considering giving Shania—or any of our pups—a forever home. Our support doesn’t end at adoption: we’re here to help you and your new family member settle in and thrive. If at any point you can no longer care for a dog adopted from us, you must contact us—we will always take our dog back. We do not allow third-party or gift adoptions, nor do we allow our adopted dogs to be rehomed, sold, abandoned, or surrendered to another organization. We cherish updates and photos from our adopters and encourage you to stay in touch with your adoption counselor. We Need Your Help We are currently very short-staffed and caring for many more dogs than the number we are able to list online. If you’re interested in volunteering, especially with fostering, marketing, fundraising, or administrative help, Contact us today; we would be grateful for your support. As we approach our busiest time of the year, your donations are urgently needed. Your support helps ensure that we can continue saving and restoring dogs like Shania—dogs who deserve a second chance. Every dollar makes a life-changing difference. Please Give a donation today at PayPal.me/CanineProtectors If you’re ready to meet Shania please request an adoption application… If you would like to volunteer to foster another dog at risk, or help us in other ways, we’d love to hear from you. Thank you for supporting our rescue and helping us continue this lifesaving work—one dog at a time. 🐾
