Story
2.5 years old Al & Joe are buddies who can be adopted together or separately. They are both Full of Love & Personality 🐾💙 Al and Joe are not biological brothers, but they became besties at the high kill shelter where they were both rescued from. These two bring the perfect mix of playful energy and affectionate companionship! Joe is the more confident of the duo. He’s bouncy, fun-loving, and full of energy—always ready to run, play, and enjoy life to the fullest. While he hasn’t quite figured out fetch yet, he makes up for it with his enthusiasm and playful spirit, as he runs alongside Al, who loves to play fetch. Al is a bit more timid but incredibly loving. He thrives on affection and is happiest soaking up attention from his people. He loves toys—especially fetch—and will gladly be your playtime buddy before curling up on the couch for some well-earned snuggles. Together, they balance each other beautifully. They are both : * ✔️ Potty trained & crate trained * ✔️ Know some basic commands * ✔️ No resource guarding * ✔️ No anxiety issues * ✔️ Not skittish and not barkers (except when the UPS truck stops by) * ✔️ Very food motivated (great for training!) Their ideal home must have a secure yard where Joe can run and play and a family ready for double the love and companionship. Al and Joe are affectionate, people-friendly pups who enjoy being around their humans. After playtime, they’re happy to relax on the couch and just be part of the family. If you’re looking for a pair that brings both fun energy and sweet companionship, Al and Joe are your perfect match. Keeping them together means giving them—and yourself—the best of both worlds. Adopt Al & Joe and get twice the love, loyalty, and joy 💙🐾 Al and Joe are both neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated pups who are kept on heartworm and flea preventatives. They are currently being fostered in Houston but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home. Yards MUST BE adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. To meet these amazing pups via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Their adoption fee includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a high quality collar, harness and leash. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.

Story
OTHER PETS: Cookie has been wonderful with the other dogs he's met. He's been both friendly and respectful, even when another dog doesn't seem interested in him. While excited to meet other dogs, he seems to match energy well and knows how to take a hint when he might be showing a little too much energy. [Likely (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn. While Cookie does warm up quickly, he is still timid and unsure with people he's not familiar with. When meeting new people, he should be allowed to approach on his own time, but also wouldn't say no to a few offered treats! He takes treats very gently from people, though he has shown a tendency to resource guard high-value things like bones and his food. [Some Experience]KIDS: Because of Cookie's resource guarding seen at the shelter, his best match would be a home without kids. While his guarding can be managed easily by simply leaving him alone while he eats or enjoys a bone, young kids may be too unpredictable for him to feel comfortable. Trading up is the safest way to remove food and toys when necessary, using something of equal or higher value, this teaches dogs they don't have to lose things they value. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Cookie hasn't shown much interest in play, but once he's comfortable he'll climb right into your lap and settle down for a nap. He may be a lap dog, but he definitely savors his time outside, especially on a clear spring day! And once he's fully settled into his new home, he may even gain a new interest in playing or toys. A combination of regular, appropriate exercise and mental enrichment such as food puzzles and scent games will help meet his needs. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: Cookie arrived at TJO with what is called a `cherry eye` in both eyes. While not an immediate concern at this time, an established relationship with a vet will be important to monitor any changes and keep up with any future care he may need. [Above Average]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Cookie is still at the beginning of his training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer patience as he adjusts and decompresses in his new home. Positive reinforcement will help Cookie not only learn his new skills and fun tricks, but also help him to feel more comfortable and confident in himself! It will provide a good opportunity for him to bond with his new owner as well. [Minimal]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]May 30, 2026, 6:04 pm

Story
Crouton is a dog who is timid around humans but fearless when it comes to following his senses! As a nervous pup, he is a clever boy will dig under fences if left unsupervised and spends his indoor time searching for exits to the outdoors when he is not napping or warming human laps. Crouton is looking for a quiet home that will be able to keep him safe, build trust, and provide ample time for lap naps.OTHER PETS: Crouton greeted other dogs appropriately, disengaged and continued looking for ways outside. He may warm to another dog in time but he is perfectly happy as a solo pup hanging out with his humans. Crouton should meet any dogs he would be living with prior to adoption. [Disinterested in Other Dogs]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience with positive reinforcement or willingness to learn, and keeping escape artist dogs safe while allowing Crouton to set the pace of interactions would be Crouton's ideal fit. [Some Experience] KIDS: Crouton enjoys calm quiet time with humans he trusts. He warms quickly to people who let him set the pace of their interactions. We want to set Crouton up for success, so his human family members should be old enough to understand and learn how to interact with him safely. Children and dogs should always be actively supervised when spending time together for everyone's safety. [13+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Crouton enjoys exploring outside; he is very curious and walks well on leash but WILL dig under fences if left unsupervised. Crouton would likely do well with regular neighborhood walks, potentially longer ones as long as care is taken to ensure he does not overexhert himself. A combination of mental enrichment, such as puzzle toys and scent games, and regular exercise, are the best ways to meet his needs. Play may not happen right away but can be developed as he decompresses. [Couch Potato / Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Crouton bond with his new owner while learning new skills, fun tricks, and learn the enjoyment of playtime. Story
Canelo is a sweet, playful pup of about 7 months. He has spent time with a husky and pit mix and loves them both! He is working really hard on house training and is doing well so far. He has been good with every person he has met including children. He is still a puppy and has a lot of energy. He likes to play and go on walks. Due to a family members inability to keep him and care for him properly, we are helping him find a loving home he deserves!
