Story
Ruby is a 3 year old Boston Terrier that weighs about 14lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and on heart worm prevention.
Ruby is a tripod(born with 3 legs) Boston Terrier who is very smart, learns fast, and is one the sweetest bostons I have ever came in contact with. She is easy going and loves to be by your side for everything. She is currently housed with 6 other bostons with no issues. She loves to play chase with her fur siblings and also loves balls, bones, ropes, and toys. Ruby loves sunbathing and watching the chickens in their coop (she could spend hours watching the chickens). She is very flexible; As long as she has her human by her side, she is happy. She would be best in a household that has an adult human with her most of the time...either a stay at home adopter, or retired couple would be best for her.
Because of her spinal cord birth defect, she dribbles urine from time to time so she wears a diaper while inside the home. She goes out to potty in the yard about every 1.5 hours during the day. Making sure she stays clean and dry is important to ensure she doesnt get skin breakdown. She walks on her lower 3rd of her back leg so walking strictly on soft surfaces outside is a must, like in a yard. We do not allow her to walk on pavement, as this will cause her to develop sores. If taking walks on hard surfaces we place her in her wheelchair to protect her back leg. We also are giving a daily doggy cranberry supplement to help with the risk of UTI, which is more common in dogs with some incontinence.
Ruby loves going to dog friendly restaurants and is kind to everyone she meets, large and small. She loves car rides, boat rides and camping. She loves snuggling in a human bed at night. She doesn't mind bathing as long as you have the water warm for her. Ruby eats twice a day, one in the morning and once early afternoon. If you change your own routine and miss one of her normal daily things like feeding her on time, no worries she will become vocal and remind you she is hungry. Ruby prefers not be crated, so a home where she could free roam while her humans are home would be ideal.
