Story
Meet Cait, a black, tan, and white Rat Terrier mix who has fully embraced her role as a curmudgeonly senior and is absolutely unapologetic about it. Cait knows what she likes, what she doesn’t, and she sees no reason to pretend otherwise. She is not auditioning to be the family pet, the kids’ best friend, or the life of the party. Noise? Pass. Chaos? Hard no. Cait is a dignified lady who prefers peace, routine, and being respected for the independent icon she is.Cait is searching for a quiet, one-person household who understands her very reasonable terms: please feed her, take her for a walk, and then kindly go about your business. She’ll do the same—until she decides it’s time for company. When that moment comes, you should feel honored. With Cait, affection is earned, not demanded, and her selective companionship makes it all the more special. If you’re looking for a low-drama roommate with four legs and a strong personality, Cait might just be your perfect match.ADOPTION PACKAGEThank you for your interest in adopting your next pet from The Haven. Story
If I didn't already have 4 dogs, I'd adopt Betsy in a heartbeat! She's 10 years old and weighs 15 pounds. Because of her age and weight, we ask that there be no small children in the home where she lives. Kids don't always know their own strength. A Rat Terrier mix, Betsy's foster describes her as calm and sweet and that she gives off &#194&#147old lady vibes.&#194&#148 She's a friendly girl who loves to roll in the grass! A bit of youth for an older lady! (posted 12/29/25, ME) Lower Fees: Adoption Fee: Adoption fees for Hope dogs, Seniors and those who have been in rescue for prolonged periods of time are reduced to $150.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $100.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **December 29, 2025, 3:31 pm

Story
Peter Pan is a 3-year-old male Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix who has already been neutered. He was found, as a stray, near a local business; and no owner came to reclaim him.  Peter Pan's coat is mostly black; and he has quite a bit of white markings with just a bit of brown markings.  This very handsome guy weighs only 17 pounds.  Peter Pan is a little doll of a dog!  He is active but friendly and affectionate.  As you can see in his pictures, Peter Pan is curious and always has an alert stance as he listens and takes in everything that is going on around him.  Peter Pan is a bit timid and nervous when he first meets you.  When given a bit of time to settle in, he settles down and is a joy to be around. We believe Peter Pan will get along with other dogs just fine; and would be fine in a home with older children.  Come meet Peter Pan soon.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  January 5, 2026, 2:36 pm
