Please give a warm welcome to little Penelope, who is coming north from Louisiana in search of a loving forever home and family.Penelope is a Rat Terrier/Mixed breed girl who is just over one year old and a petite 19 pounds, making her a small dog (10-31 pounds). The rat terrier is known for being sturdy and energetic. Penelope is happy to spend time making friends and playing with children and other dogs. It is not known if she enjoys spending time with cats.Penelope is working at her house and leash training. Rescue dogs should be expected to have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, family and routines. If crate training is anticipated, Penelope requires a crate that lets her lie down, stand up and turn around. Crates should never be used for punishment, should be warm and cozy dens and Penelope should be able to go in and out as she desires during training. Her past is a bit of a mystery, but if you are open to discovering all this little girl can offer in companionship and affection, she is ready to come home with you.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. Miss pickles was a 6month old rescue from a homeless encampment in California. She is deaf and had a very hard life before she came to us. We always knew she had issues towards other dogs, mostly larger dogs, but it was manageable until recently. She is great with humans and cuddly and affectionate, and wants to be pet, but she is becoming much more aggressive toward our other dogs. She would be perfect in a human only home.

Welcome Blanca to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2 year old Rat Terrier mix. She came in from a hoarding situation. We received 3 dogs from this case. One was adopted already and one had to go to a specialized trainer in another Rescue. Blanca has started opening up and allowing people to pet her and hold her. She never got any attention in her original home, the hoarder. She is good with other dogs and causes no issues. She is kennel trained and her response to being afraid is to run and hide. She is a timid girl and not the social butterfly. She would be perfect with a person that is more introverted and wants a pet that is also similar. Blanca would be satisfied being at home with you all the time. A small walk in the yard would be fine. She until now, has not walked on leash. She is learning to do it at our Rescue. She would like a patient owner and a quieter home. An older couple or older single person would be great. Someone with a quieter home. She would be fine kenneled away if you had a party or people over. She is not very vocal and prefers to blend into the woodwork. She is really a great dog for the right family. She is getting her vaccinations, nail trims and will be spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She could be adopted locally in Texas or we could work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast.
