PLEASE NOTE! WE ARE A TEXAS-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY IN TEXAS AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO YOUR STATE ONCE ADOPTED. Our application can be found at haydudeequine.org. **Hi, I’m Zippy!** 🐾 I’m a 3-year-old Chi x Rat Terrier mix — a tiny 14-pound package with giant ears, endless energy, and a whole lot of personality! I’ve never met a stranger in my life. Two legs or four, I’m ready to be best friends immediately. My tail goes full helicopter mode the second I see someone I like (which is pretty much everyone). I get along great with other dogs (I love playing with my foster siblings), but what I’m really dreaming of is a person or family of my very own to shower with nonstop love and ridiculous devotion. I’m happiest when I’m glued to my humans, following them everywhere like a happy little shadow. I’m a smart cookie too! I’ve mastered the dog door like a pro and I’m doing awesome with house training. I’ve got that classic Rat Terrier spunk mixed with Chihuahua charm, so I’d love an active family who can keep up with my playful zoomies while giving me plenty of affection and attention. If you’re looking for a loyal, goofy, big-eared best friend who will greet you with maximum excitement every single day, I might be your perfect little match! Ready to bring home the happiest 14 pounds on the planet? Let’s do this! ❤️

Story
Puma is a very sweet, outgoing, and friendly 7 year old rat terrier. She has spent her life having puppies and is now ready to be spoiled in her new home. She is a really sweet and overall easy dog who would make a good addition to most homes. Her favorite hobbies are sitting on her foster mom's lap, hanging out on the patio keeping a watch for chipmunks, chewing on bully sticks or other healthy chews, and snuggling up on the couch in the evening. She is very social. She loves to snuggle and cuddle. She definitely thinks she's a lap dog. She is playful and likes to shake shake shake her toys - like a good rat terrier. She is good with dogs. Unknown how she is with cats but may do ok with slow introductions. Her foster home doesn't have children but we think she would be fine with kids. She has done well meeting kids at adoption events. The only consideration is that she does jump for attention so that might be overwhelming for very small kiddos. She is great in a kennel overnight and when her foster mom leaves the home. She is mostly potty trained - just a few transition accidents. She is working on confidently walking on a leash. She's making good progress but because of this, at this time a securely fenced-in yard is required for her safety. She is a little on the overweight side. While this just means there is more of her to love, she definitely needs a home committed to helping her with a weight loss plan for her long term health. They key is monitored food intake and daily exercise - even if that exercise is just running around the yard. She's already lost some weight in foster care so should be able to get to a healthy weight pretty easily with continued guidance from her new family. Otherwise she has a clean bill of health from the vet. She is spayed, current on vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick disease free and microchipped! Adoption fee: $450 plus tax. ❤️🐾 Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Story
Sugar Plum is a 12-year-old Rat Terrier with a tiny body, a big personality, and a serious love for snuggles. At just 10 pounds, she’s happiest curled up in your arms or cozied next to you on the couch. She’s a spunky little senior who will absolutely make sure she’s included in whatever you’re doing (preferably from your lap). This sweet girl has been through a lot, but now that her medical needs are managed, her joyful personality is shining. She is diabetic and requires insulin injections twice a day, which she handles like a pro. She’s also mostly blind and has only one eye, so she’ll need a little help navigating new spaces—but she learns her environment quickly and even responds to cues like “careful.” She also only has a few teeth left, so she’ll need wet or softened food for life (which she is VERY enthusiastic about), and often wakes up with her tongue hanging out.Sugar Plum is fully house trained and sleeps peacefully in her playpen at night. She settles well when left alone, especially with a treat or two. She’s not much of a barker unless she needs something—like being picked up now, thank you very much—or if meal service is taking too long. She’s unfazed by other dogs and cats, mostly because she can’t see them, and would do fine sharing a home with calm pets. Because of her need for calm roommates, she cannot live with small children (no kids under 13).Don’t expect long walks—Sugar Plum is more of a professional lounger. She prefers staying inside, staying warm (sweaters encouraged!), and staying close to her humans. She has plenty of toys in her foster home but no use for them.Sugar Plum is looking for a calm, loving home that will appreciate her quirks and funny spirit. In return, she’ll be your daily reminder that the best things really do come in small, slightly sassy packages! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.
