Meet this sweet little girl! At around 10 pounds, she is a tiny package with a very tender heart. She came to us from a hoarding situation, where she spent much of her life confined to a kennel and simply did not get the chance to experience the kind of love, attention, and everyday family life that every dog deserves. Because of that, she can be timid when meeting new people. She is not unfriendly—she is simply learning that people can be kind and that being loved is something she can trust. Give her a little time, patience, and reassurance, and you will get to see the wonderful girl underneath that shy first impression. Once she feels safe, she is incredibly loving and makes a fantastic little lap dog. She enjoys being close to her person and soaking up all the affection she missed out on before. We think she would do especially well in a calmer home with an older individual or family who understands that the best relationships sometimes take a little time to build. She has already come so far. Now she just needs someone willing to show her what being truly loved feels like. If you have a patient heart and an open lap, she may be waiting for you.

People tell me I look like a little fruit bat because of my irresistible bat ears and petite size 🦇🥹, but I promise I'm all puppy with a huge heart! ❤️🐕New places can feel a bit big and overwhelming to me at first, so I tend to be on the shy side until I settle in 🏡. Big dogs can also make me a little nervous, but would you blame me, they are giants 🦖. My foster family says I am doing a wonderful job coming out of my shell a little more every day ✨! Whenever I need a little break to process everything, I am crate trained and feel very safe in there 💤.Once I get comfortable, my true personality comes alive ✨! Hi, I'm Agatha! I'm a 5-year-old rat terrier looking for a lap to lay in. I prefer a quiet, predicable home, with one or two confident people to help make me feel relaxed and secure. I need my people to be in charge, so I don't have to be. I like to move at my own pace and greet new people first so please don’t rush me. Once I trust you, I’m very affectionate and calm. Oh, and I LOVE belly rubs, car rides, and walks. I like other dogs, especially if they are on the calmer side like me. Since I haven’t been around cats, I'm not sure how well we would get along. Since I am looking for a calmer environment, I'm looking for my forever home without children. I am potty trained and can comfortably hold it for several hours, if I need to. I do get nervous in certain circumstances, so a muzzle is needed for vet visits, grooming, and nail appointments. This helps to keep everything safe and stress-free. My ideal home and family are one where I can build trust at my own pace, have a routine which includes exercise (I’m a bit of a chunky girl!) and get plenty of affection with someone(s) who makes me feel safe and understood.
