Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Susie is a sweet senior who found herself homeless. Susie is in a foster home in NJ. Susie came from the NYC shelter system. She was found in a vacant apartment after her family moved out. Susie is blind. She is not fixed. Her teeth are in poor health and she has a quite large fat deposit on the right towards her back legs. We have had her evaluated with our veterinarians and they feel a quick dental would do her good after she settles in to her new foster home but she should not be spayed and nothing should be done in regards to her fat deposit.  She has a smaller one on the other side as well.  It doesn't seem to bother her so our vet said let it be.  NYC gave her a permanent exemption from Spay already anyway.   Susie is sweet, loves attention, loves naps and loves to eat as long as it is soggy.  She still eats kibble but it has to be wet. She is in good spirits and does not let anything get her down. At 16, we can't be sure how much time she has left but we can be sure we will make it the best chapter yet! Susie is up to date on rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines. Her adoption fee is $300.   How to Adopt Me! If you are interested in learning more about me, and possibly making me part of your family, please go to  wagoninn.rescuegroups.org . Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bandit is an adorable terrier mix who is looking for a new home. Bandit is now in a NJ foster home and doing great. Bandit came from a home with two dachshund mixes - all 3 were surrendered together when their owner no longer wanted them or could no longer care for them. Bandit loves having a fenced in yard to run around in and sniff after the critters.  We are working on leash training and he's doing really well. He is good with other dogs he knows - he just needs a slow intro to new dogs especially bigger dogs.  Bandit is a super sweet guy who just needs a little patience to warm up.  Bandit is fixed, microchipped and up to date on rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines. Bandit was just treated for heartworm and is currently on restricted activity for 1 month. He will be ready for adoption in late December. His adoption fee is $450.   How to Adopt Me! Story
Bailey (born 6/20/2015) is an 8-year-old, 14 pound, housebroken, Rat Terrier mix. Because Bailey came from an abuse situation, he has trust issues. If you want to adopt him, you would need to visit with Bailey a few times to become friends and gain his trust. The deal here is that Bailey needs to know you before he can trust you. Once Bailey knows you, he is a very affectionate and loyal friend, but he will also be protective – so he needs to know that you will be the one to protect him. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com.
