Training, Adjustment & What to Expect At only three months old, Lia is still learning about the world. Her future family should be prepared for the normal responsibilities of raising a young puppy. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so adopters should be ready to continue working on potty training, crate training if desired, leash walking, basic commands, recall, appropriate chewing, household boundaries, and positive socialization. Rat Terriers are often clever and eager to explore, so positive reinforcement, patience, repetition, and consistent routines will be especially important. Short, enjoyable training sessions will help Lia develop confidence while strengthening the bond she builds with her new family. Her adopter should also understand that puppies require supervision, structure, and time. Accidents, chewing, teething, and occasional mischief are all normal parts of puppyhood. Lia will need a family willing to invest the time and effort required to guide her through puppyhood and into adulthood. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 Days: Time to decompress and begin feeling safe. 3 Weeks: Time to understand her new household routine. 3 Months: Time to build trust, settle in, and begin feeling truly at home. These are guidelines rather than deadlines. Every rescue dog adjusts at their own pace, and Lia should be given the time she needs to feel safe and secure. This little guy has some serious main-character features. First, there are his ears. We are not entirely convinced Sebastian’s ears are not secretly satellite dishes. They are adorable, expressive and somehow always seem to be listening to absolutely everything. He looks like someone designed the cutest little tricolor dog possible and then added a few extra-special details just for fun. With rescue dogs, breed and age are always our best guesses rather than guarantees. Whatever may be in his family tree, Sebastian landed at a perfect small-medium size with an enormous amount of charm packed into him. Sebastian has a wonderful, easy confidence. He navigates new situations beautifully and meets other dogs with calm, polite social skills. He has done well with dogs his size, smaller dogs and dogs considerably larger than him. Whether the dogs around him are playing, running or simply relaxing, Sebastian is perfectly content sharing the space and going about his business. He could comfortably live with canine companions, but he does not need another dog in his home. His heart throbs for people. He was also wonderful when he met our house cat. Sebastian remained polite and composed, giving us every reason to believe he could be a good match for a home with a dog-savvy feline friend and proper introductions. One of our favorite things about Sebastian is how quickly people fall in love with him. He is friendly and deeply affectionate, but never demanding about it. He will happily snuggle up beside you when affection is available, but if you look busy, he is just as content curling up on the other side of the couch and keeping you company. He has an easy, happy presence that makes him feel at home almost immediately. Sebastian is house trained, crate trained and has been a wonderful little houseguest. He walks beautifully on leash and would make an excellent sidekick for neighborhood strolls and everyday outings. He also enjoys treats and takes them with the softest, gentlest mouth. The best thing about Sebastian is, hands down, his personality. He is lively, affectionate, a little goofy and equipped with just the right amount of spunk. He has a way of making ordinary moments more entertaining simply because he is there, whether he is trotting through the house, carrying a toy or supervising the room with those highly advanced ears. At approximately six years old, Sebastian offers a particularly lovely balance. He is happy and curious, with plenty of personality and enthusiasm, but he also knows how to settle down and enjoy a peaceful afternoon on the couch. Zoey was adopted as a puppy and unfortunately has been returned at 3 years old at no fault of her own but the adopter ended up in a situation and it was best for her to find a better stable home. She is crate and house trained and very sweet really bonds hard to her person, great with other dogs but submissive and this can sometimes get her on the wrong end, specially since she doesnt think or understand the other dogs cues all the time. She lived with dogs and cats. She is 38lbs but should be 35lbs max. Travels well in the car would do best in a home that isnt super loud or crazy. The photos are current and some older from when she was a baby, her DNA results will be in photos shortly also. Her litter was batch tested with Embark breed + health test and cleared for genetic markers. She is currently fostered in Portland OR. We like to do 2 week Foster to Adopts on adult dogs, puppies are adoption only unless there are certain situations, so the dogs don't have to move around as much and they can bond and make sure they fit into your home before completion of adoption. After being adopted to a loving home for almost 10 years, Sybil found herself back with New Rattitude after her person fell too ill to care for her any longer. Being a senior girl herself, Sybil is looking for a nice retirement home. Sybil is approximately 15 years-old, around 14 lbs. and quite the character. Although both her eyesight and hearing are not what they used to be, she has a silly, playful side and she can get a little rambunctious at times for an older girl. Her most favorite thing in the world is treat/meal time and she gets very animated, jumping and prancing about in anticipation! Sybil does just fine with all the other dogs in her foster home and being followed around appears to give her some security. She does spend much of her time napping in a comfy bed both inside and out in the yard. Going on walks isn't necessary as Sybil can't go too far and moves slowly when she does venture out. She needs a securely fenced yard, and a doggie-door would be ideal since she navigates going out to do her business very well. Sybil is house-trained however, being an older girl, she can sometimes leak a bit when she gets excited or sneezes. She can get a little disoriented after waking up but, that only lasts a few minutes. Stairs or obstacles of that sort would not be ideal for Sybil, a single story home is best. She has been sleeping in a crate in her foster home and does well for the whole night with no accidents. She is mostly a quiet girl and only barks when she is getting impatient for her meal/treats. Sybil is a sweetie who enjoys the simple things, a comfy bed, lots of treats, good food, and a secure yard to wander in occassionally. She does appreciate affection (she has very soft, silky fur) but, does not like to be picked up and is not able to get on the furniture for snuggles at this point in her life. She does like to follow her people around and would feel most comfortable in a home where someone will keep her company most of the day.
