You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Cash and Gizmo are two very very sweet boys! They both love people and get along well with other dogs. They are both 1 year old, Cash and Gizmo adore each other and have been together since the very start. They would do amazing in a home with a securely fenced yard for them to get their zoomies out and enjoy the fresh air :).  They literally are volunteer favorites :) REQUIRES - Fenced YardVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! If interested in Fran the Nanny, apply here:https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CPAR/DogFran the Nanny is 3 years old and 11 lbs, and she is a tiny package full of personality. Just like her namesake, she brings a little sass, a lot of charm, and keeps things interesting wherever she goes.Fran is a Sato, which is a Puerto Rican street dog, and like many Satos she is resilient, expressive, and deeply loyal once she bonds with her people. She is sweet and affectionate but also has a feisty, confident side that makes her incredibly fun to be around. She is leash trained and potty trained, and she is currently working on getting comfortable in her crate. Fran enjoys being around people and will happily soak up attention, but she also has that spunky little attitude that makes her stand out in the best way.If you are looking for a small dog with a big personality who will make you laugh and keep life entertaining, Fran the Nanny might just be your perfect match. Fran would do best in a home as an only dog. However, she does love cats.Fran is being fostered in Crofton, MD.PLEASE READ:Any dog that is house or potty trained will still need patience in a new home with new people and a new schedule. Please be ready to train ANY dog you adopt! Also, please understand we can not guarantee breed or full grown size of any young dog or puppy.Thank you for understanding.

Story
It’s hard to believe something as simple as jumping off a sofa could change a tiny dog’s life forever. For Punky, it did—but it didn’t take away her gentle, loving spirit. After breaking her legs from jumping off a sofa, Punky underwent orthopedic surgery and spent her recovery being absolutely spoiled by the incredible staff at Hulin Veterinary Hospital - thank you for taking such incredible care of her! Leo's Helping Paws also provided a substantial donation to help cover her orthopedic surgery costs. This little girl has already touched so many lives and has had so many people standing behind her. Today, she has metal rods and screws supporting her tiny, delicate bones, and she’s doing beautifully. You would never know it - she walks with incredible grace. Punky is a gentle, slightly timid girl who is happiest when she’s close to her people. She loves being held, curling up in your lap, and soaking up all the affection you’ll give her.  Outside, she’s curious and enjoys exploring, but she’s never one to wander far. She prefers to stay close, checking in often and enjoying the world by your side. She gets along well with other dogs and especially seems to enjoy canine companions her own size. She has also done well around much, much larger dogs who are respectful of her tiny, delicate body. Punky is doing well with crate training, and her potty training is progressing nicely with consistency and patience. Because of her tiny size, delicate bone structure, and naturally cautious personality, Punky is looking for a home without young children where she can feel safe and thrive.  If you’re looking for a sweet little companion who will happily curl up in your lap, follow you around the yard, and remind you that resilience can come in the tiniest packages, Punky is ready to meet you. Punky is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and will be able to head home with an incredibly lucky family on or after 7/25/2026. www.mostlymuttz.org Link to Punky’s bio: https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2780769&name=Punky #mostlymuttzrescue #ratterrierworld #adoptme #delicateflower #lapdog #AdoptablePuppy ##2780769##

Story
Meet Morsel, a gentle young adult whose world hasn’t always been predictable—but who is steadily learning that love, safety, and comfort are real. Rescued from a hoarding situation, Morsel came into foster care frightened, overwhelmed, and unsure of the world around her. Today, she is making remarkable progress. While she still needs an understanding adopter willing to give her time to settle in, she grows more confident every day. She’s learning to trust, discovering the comfort of routine, and beginning to enjoy all the little things that make a house feel like home. Affection is no longer something she shies away from—in fact, she often returns it with sweet little kisses of her own. Because of her past, Morsel can be wary of unfamiliar people and new situations. She does best when introductions are slow and pressure-free, allowing her to observe and decide when she’s ready to engage. Once someone earns her trust, her affectionate, sweet nature shines through, and the bond she forms is incredibly rewarding. Morsel learned to use pee pads in her previous life, but once she feels comfortable in her environment, she is fully potty trained. She is making steady progress with her leash skills in quieter settings where she feels secure and continues to gain confidence with each outing. Morsel is crate trained, though she doesn’t need to be crated, rides nicely in the car, and is becoming more comfortable being picked up when necessary once she trusts her person. While she isn’t ready for a busy, unpredictable lifestyle, patience and consistency help her continue to blossom. She already knows how to sit for treats and loves to play, romp around, and show off her zoomies. Other dogs are truly Morsel’s safe place. She is wonderful with dogs of all sizes, naturally submissive, and must have a confident canine companion in her adoptive home to help guide and reassure her. She looks to other dogs for comfort and confidence, making a canine friend essential to her continued success. Because of her sensitive nature, Morsel would do best in a quieter household. Older, respectful children who understand the importance of giving her space and allowing her to build trust at her own pace would be the best fit. Morsel also has one impressive—and important—talent: she can climb chain-link fencing like a tiny spider woman. Because of this, her adopter will need to take extra precautions to keep her safe as she adjusts to her new home. Since her leash skills are still developing, careful supervision and secure outdoor access are important. Morsel won’t be an instant, outgoing companion—but for the right person, she will be something even more meaningful. She is the kind of dog whose love is earned slowly, quietly, and deeply. The bond you’ll build with her won’t happen overnight, but it will be one of the most rewarding relationships you can imagine. If you believe in patience, in progress, and in the joy of watching a dog discover just how loved she can be, Morsel may be the one you’ve been waiting for. Morsel is fostered in Reading (Berks County), Pennsylvania and is ready to head home. www.mostlymuttz.org Link to Morsel’s bio: https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2641184&name=Morsel Morsel is in our Meet Me Program: Dogs featured in our Meet Me Program are participating simply because their foster or a dedicated volunteer is willing and able to take part—this is not based on breed, personality, behavior, or how long a dog has been waiting for a home. Because Mostly Muttz Rescue does not have a physical shelter location, this program allows adopters to connect directly with the people who know each dog best. It’s a great opportunity to ask questions, learn more about daily life with the dog, and even schedule an individual meet & greet at an approved location—either before applying or while your application is pending. To get started, email meet_me@mostlymuttz.org with your contact information, and the dog’s foster or volunteer will be in touch. #mostlymuttzrescue #adoptabledogs #jrtlove ##2641184##

Story
Meet Maru: Maru is about a 10 year old (as of July 2026) Jack Russell Terrier mix (best guess) that weighs about 16 pounds. Maru was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Tennessee. One of our regular rescuers witnessed poor Maru being dropped off while they were picking up another dog. His owners said they didn’t have time for him anymore; they removed his harness and leash and took his blanket and toy out of his crate and took him inside in the empty crate. The little buddy was scared and confused, but luckily we were able to find an open spot and went to pick him up the next day. Maru is now being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Maru was shy at first but warmed up after a day. Maru has been good with other dogs, but seems to be overwhelmed by the multiple dogs in his foster home. We believe he would prefer a home with one other dog or he would also seem happy on his own. Maru is a big snuggler and loves nothing better than to lay in his person’s lap! Maru is good with people, but we think small children may scare him - he would love a calmer more laid back environment. Maru is crate trained, but loves his doggy bed to snuggle in. When Maru sees his harness he gets very excited to be able to go on a walk - he loves his walks and is great on the leash. Maru loves to be outside and we would love for him to have a home with a fenced in yard for him to sniff and sunbathe the day away. Maru is house trained. Maru is up to date on his shots and neutered. If you are interested in relaxing with this sweetheart, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Meet Bingo: Bingo is an 11 year old (as of April 2026) Jack Russell / border collie mix (best guess) that weighs about 22 pounds. Bingo was surrendered by her owner with her sister, Liza Jean, in a small rural shelter in early April 2026. The woman had recently lost her husband and her home and was having to move into a new place that only allowed 2 dogs but she had 4. She was very distraught at the situation, but had no other choice. Bingo was terribly stressed at the shelter where she only stayed a day or so before we were able to take her in. She was never combative or aggressive, but very shut down and stressed. Bingo took a few days to decompress and come out of her shell once in her foster home. Bingo has struggled with losing her only known home, but she now likes to come to her foster to be petted and will sit in his lap for a while. Bingo wags her tail when he comes in from anywhere. Bingo is a very sweet dog. Bingo would do best with a family that wants a dog to cuddle, but she's not a dog that wants to take long strolls.  Bingo is being fostered with another dog and a cat. She gets along wonderfully with both. We feel she would be good with another dog or a cat in the house, but it's not a requirement. She has been welcoming family and friends as they come into the foster home without hesitation. Bingo would do best in a home with children 8+ years or with a family that has taught their children to be respectful of a dog's space. Bingo is currently being fostered in the Landisville, PA area and would love to meet her forever family. Bingo may need patience and understanding from her new family while she adjusts to another change in her living situation. Bingo was trained to use a doggie door to use the bathroom by her previous owner, but is learning a more traditional method in her current foster home. Bingo was not leashed in her previous owner's home and is learning that the leash is not a bad thing. Bingo would do best with a fenced in yard so she can play freely. Bingo is up to date on her shots and is spayed. If you are interested in showing this confused lady the consistent love she deserves, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. Story
Meet Cary: Cary is about a 1 year old (as of May 2026) Kelpie / Jack Russel / Cur mix (best guess?) that weighs about 37 pounds. Cary was at a shelter in Tennessee and not getting any interest so he was marked to euthanize to make room for more. Fortunately we heard about the situation and had a foster find a spot for him. Cary is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Cary is incredibly friendly with both people and dogs. Cary is a bundle of energy as well as a playful puppy. Cary is just the right size and temperament for being a lap buddy or bed buddy as well as a buddy for taking for long walks. Cary is currently house trained to a doggie door and may need patience while learning a new routine. We would love for Cary to have a home with a fenced in yard so he can run and play freely. Cary is up to date on his shots and is neutered.
