Story
Hello, my name is Benny! I found my way to the shelter after my elderly owner became unable to take care of my anymore. Being a senior myself, I get it, so now, I'm ready for a new family to call my own. I am not a fan of being picked up and can be a little sensitive due to arthritis. I still enjoy playing short rounds of fetch and going for short strolls, but that's all I'm up for these days.In my foster home we have learned that I am housebroken and crate-trained. I live with a cat and don't mind him either! We even share a bed sometimes. I am looking for a home where kiddos are over 8 years old and understand little old dogs need their space somethings. I am open to living with another dog with proper introduction. I hope to meet you soon!---This dog is currently living in a foster home and is available by appointment only. Please reach out to schedule!---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Hello, the names Big Red. I was found wondering around in the country side and was brought to the shelter to look for my new home. I'm an adventurous pup who loves to sniff and explore! However, I prefer handling from people to be on my terms, so I do require my home to have kids ages 8+. With dogs I can come off a bit strong and I'm vocal, so I would need a proper introduction to see if I can have a dog companion. I have no known history with cats, so introductions will be needed. If you would like to adopt me into your home, please visit me at the shelter!---Our facility is open daily from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM, meet and greet appointments are highly recommended. If you are interested in meeting an animal please contact us via email at Lancaster@pspca.org to learn more about our adoption process and to set a meet and greet appointment.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Hi my name is Roxy! I was taken from a home that could only be entered by first putting on a respirator, and gloves along with my half-sisters Isabell & Smokey. The 3 of us are so thankful to be with 2nd Chance! I am a very sweet gal who loves affection and kisses, I have LOTS of energy, and Smokey and I LOVE to play together. Smokey and I have lived together all of our lives, so for that reason we must be adopted together. We require a fenced yard.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 2, 2024, 7:55 pm

Story
ISSUES WHEN GONE: Pee and poop accidents. * We got Max when he was 1 1/2, in Oct he will be 9. The people we got him from neglected him, his ribs was showing, he smelled awful, he was quiet and guarded. Max has come a long way since that day. He's picked up weight needed and he's very vocal. Though to this day when hes done something wrong, he sometimes runs off/backing away. Max doesn't like to be alone. A few years back the vet mentioned he may have anxiety, it seems more of a seperation thing, once we leave he acts out and has accidents. The vet did mention maybe behavior training? Maybe if another animal was around so he had a play buddy would help also? Hes never been violent to this point. He loves kids, walks, and cuddles. He follows you everywhere, like a shadow. I just want him in a good home, have lots of attention, given alot of love, and someone with patience. With my families health issues myself included, I am unable to be at home as often. Finances are also tight.

Story
Sugar and Spice and everything nice! Spice and her sister Sugar were rescued from a pretty sad living situation. They are around 30 pounds and roughly one year old. Both sisters love attention from their human friends and also love other dogs. They are bonded and would love a home together, but can be adopted separately. Spice is tan with white and black markings. She's submissive, but does have a "spicy attitude and will let you know what she thinks about it! Overall, she has a very calm and relaxed demeanor especially when she knows she is in a safe place/at home. She does well with potty training, but is still working on leash training. She is very gentle and loving with a little side of sass! Spice would make a great pet for almost any home. She is ready to be adopted and can travel to her adoptive home now! If you're interested in welcoming me or any of my delightful Funny Farm companions into your home, kindly visit ffpets.org. There, you can find information about our Tennessee-based rescue, and gain insights into the adoption process! The adoption fee is $325, with an additional $200 required for transportation. Please note that at the moment, this adorable pet is in the care of a foster home in Tennessee but will be lovingly transported to your location once the adoption process is successfully completed. For details on meeting locations and transport arrangements, simply click on the "Transport" tab at ffpets.org. We strongly encourage you to thoroughly review all transport-related information before submitting your adoption application.

Story
Hi, I am a 16.5 year young Jack Russell. I ended up at the shelter due to no fault of my own and my foster people say I am the best boy. I am very energetic for my age and would enjoy walks, play time and I LOVE water. If you get the hose out, I will be your best friend. I do fine with other low-key dogs but I do not appreciate cats. In my foster home the cat is kept in a separate part of the house and I am okay with that. I am in good health with just some minor old man bumps. I'm looking for a home to spend the rest of my days filled with love and play. I sleep through the night and do well in a crate during the day. The shelter reported that I am "super potty trained" but did have 2 minor accidents while I was getting used to my foster home. If you look for me, I'm usually hanging out on the back of the couch or with my people giving little licks. I promise to give my family the best love if they take a chance on an old guy like me. ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Review our adoption contract and application. 2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling. 3. Complete adoption application and submit following appropriate link below: Dog/Puppy: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Dog Cat/kitten: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HRMD/Cat It takes us about 1-3 days to process applications.
