Meet our resilient duo, Trina and Rollo! Trina is a 3-year-old Rat Terrier/ Feist mix weighing 21lbs! Rollo is a 4-year-old Griffon Terrier mix weighing 20lbs! Trina wears a short, black and white coat, while Rollo wears a medium, scruffy yellow coat! Trina and Rollo were rescued from a hoarding situation where they were not socialized with humans. It took them some time to warm up to rescue staff but once they did, there was no holding them back! These two love to play and chase each other, cuddle together, and eat together. They both love to play with other dogs as well as cats! They may do better with children 8 and older, due to their shy nature! Because of their dependence on each other, they must be adopted together to live with the same family.  They deserve to stay together. Pixie is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so she is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. We believe Pixie (with her magnificent ears) is a chihuahua/rat terrier mix. We estimate that she is around 2 years of age and she weighs around 8 pounds. Pixie needs an experienced adopter who is familiar with headstrong little dogs. Pixie is a typical chihuahua that requires some time to learn to trust and bond with her person. Once she is bonded with her human, it may be necessary to establish that you are the boss. For example, no she cannot keep you from taking away whatever item she is chewing on because she is not supposed to have it. Despite that, Pixie is a wonderful and very sweet little girl. She loves laying in your lap and giving kisses. She will whine at you when she wants something. One of her favorite games is "you can't get me". She also likes you to play tug of war and throw toys for her. This little spitfire is a bit rough and will bite a little too hard sometimes. It hurts but she never breaks the skin, But that is why she needs a home without small children. Pixie likes to sit behind me on my desk chair while I work on the computer. It's not very comfortable so I made a spot for her on a chair next to mine and she will lie there while I work. Pixie loves to play, run, chase, and wrestle with other dogs. But she does have a temper that sometimes results in minor skirmishes. They are never serious and over quickly. We also think Pixie would do well with cats if properly introduced. Pixie is crate-trained and well-behaved in the house. She is not totally housetrained and could use additional obedience training. Pixie is very small and must be protected from rough treatment by children or big dogs that could hurt her. She must also be protected from raptors and other outdoor predators. Pixie must be in the house as a loved member of the family. She must be walked on a leash and must have a very secure, fenced yard to run and play. Pixie is healthy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Pixie had a light case of heartworms. She was treated with the "slow kill" protocol (we are happy to explain this) and is now heartworm-free. Pixie receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Pixies' out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to the Pittsburgh area. She is being fostered in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. This frosted gentleman is a real catch! Frosty is a 7 year old neutered male rat terrier mix who weighs 20 lbs. Frosty was rescued from an overcrowded shelter after being found as a stray in rough shape. He had bite marks all over his body and clearly had a rough time wherever he came from. He received medical attention for his wounds, and despite his condition he was always sweet. Frosty doesn't hold any grudges and is a happy and friendly guy. If you want a devoted, constant companion look no further than Frosty! He will follow you around the house and outside in the yard, waiting for you to sit down so he can snuggle. Despite the greying of his face, this boy has a lot of life in him! He loves to go for walks, and rides well in the car to explore new places. He is doing well with his training, and will some consistency and patience we think he'll excel.
