Story
Bruno is an older gentleman with a gentle soul. He is a bit shy and slow to warm up to new people, so earning his trust will take a little patience - but once you do, he’s all cuddles and love. He prefers a calm, serene environment where he can feel safe and relaxed. Bruno has a naturally quiet demeanor and really enjoys having a comfy kennel of his own to retreat to. He’d be happiest in a home with children over the age of 12, since he’s not a fan of noisy crowds or lots of fast movement. He’s fully potty trained and does well with cats. He’s also fine with other laid-back dog companions, though he’s just as happy being the only furry apple of your eye making him an easy fit for a variety of homes. Fun facts: Bruno does have a little quirk with floor textures and transitions, which we fondly call one of his “tizzums.” So, if you have hardwood floors a few extra rugs may be necessary until he adjusts. It’s just part of his unique charm. And one more thing—Bruno absolutely LOVES car rides! In fact, he thinks they should be a regular part of life’s routine. If you’re looking for a calm, loving buddy who’s always up for a ride in the car, Bruno’s your guy! In terms of health, Bruno does have a couple of manageable conditions: he has diabetes insipidus and a slight thyroid imbalance. Both conditions are easily treated with twice-daily medications that are pretty inexpensive and can just be added right into his food. It’s a simple routine that keeps him happy and healthy. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Story
Meet Roman, the handsome heartbreaker! Roman has the softest auburn coat and the biggest, most curious heart.  Roman is a family-friendly explorer who loves nothing more than sniffing around the backyard, going for walks, and proudly carrying his favorite chew toys everywhere he goes. He’s playful, affectionate, and always ready for his next adventure. He would love to trot by your side, and then curl up nearby after a day of exploring. He’s ready for a forever family who will love his goofy charm, his soft ears, and his excited “let’s go!” energy.  Roman is a recent rescue who is still learning what it means to be an inside dog. He is looking for someone with patience who can help him learn the ropes. Though he may not get it right on the first try, his big intelligent eyes tell us that he is eager to figure it out!  If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Story
Our girl Reba has two speeds – full throttle to parked and idle. You do you girl! You can either find her following her nose around the yard making sure everyone can hear her or passed out on the couch. She is curious and cautious and one of her favorite activities is collecting shoes. She doesn’t chew them, just likes them close. And when she’s not finding these treasures, she loves playing with her new canine friend in her foster home. Reba is shy and gets scared easily from any sudden noises but is opening up. She is learning what it's like to be loved and has an amazing hound howl. While she does have chemical burn scars down her back, we think she is an absolute beauty! **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment. Story
Dog: female, foxhound, 4-4.5 years old per vet, in good health with all vaccinations up to date and on flea/tick/heartworm meds monthly. Heartworm negative. No known issues medically. I found her in the middle of nowhere along the side of the highway the day before the 'snowstorm' last January 1/21/2025. The local shelter was full and I volunteered to 'foster' her for the next several days. She has since stayed in our home but she needs a better fit. She would do best with a work from home person or retired person/couple. She is best with someone home. She is good with our other 2 dogs (retriever and beagle) and our older cat. She likes to sleep most of the time. She loves dog food time, normal slow walks and praise. She is very sweet. She needs to be in a home with a person that is home most of the time and she's great. We are young family and we cannot provide what she needs. I don't want her to go to a shelter. She's a good/sweet one and just needs a homebody Plz help.

Story
Vinny is a friendly, outgoing Velcro hound that is feeling much better these days. He is eager to please, affectionate, and after living on the streets, he thoroughly enjoys a comfy sofa. He came to us with severe allergies that caused chronic ear infections. With a prescription diet food, his skin has improved dramatically. Unfortunately, his ears didn’t respond to various treatments and he has had Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) on both of his ears. This involves removing the entire ear canal. While many dogs are deaf post-surgery, Vinny can still hear sounds and vibrations. Vinny also has what is called sebaceous adenitis. This is an autoimmune disease that causes cells in the immune system to destroy the sebaceous glands in the skin which secrete oils that are important for coat and skin health. It’s also believed he has some mild allergies. He will require lifelong medications to keep his skin happy and comfortable as well as allergy friendly foods, but he’s well managed now and he’s looking SO much better! And as amazing as dogs are, he has no idea he is any different. He loves to stand on his back legs and put his front paws on your waist to give you a hug. He’s an energetic boy looking for a home with another playful dog and someone to love him forever. We know that Vinny’s continued care will make it hard to find him a forever home, but we know the perfect one is out there for him! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Story
Gerald is a gentle, lanky boy who starts out a little timid, but once he knows you’re safe, he becomes your best friend. He was found by his foster family after it looked like he was dumped on their property. After trying to find who he belonged to with no luck, it was apparent someone else’s so called trash, is now a treasure! He will put his head in your hand and look at you with pure adoration. Like he truly is thankful to not be lost anymore. He loves playing with other dogs once he’s comfortable and enjoys relaxing on his bed for little naps throughout the day. He is also great with children and will make sure to follow them everywhere. He’s a big fan of walks and sniffing all the fun scents in the air. Gerald is a soft, loving boy that deserves the very best home.  **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment.
