Story
Melly is a six year old Treeing Walker Coonhound who just wants to be near her people. She will follow you from room to room, curl up at your feet while you work, and claim her spot in your favorite chair the second you are not looking. She is sweet, loyal, and deeply loving to the humans she calls her own.Melly is equal parts couch potato and adventure dog depending on the hour. At the dog park she is an absolute blast, especially when she gets another dog to chase her because she will run forever. She goes wild for a squeaky toy and could spend a solid chunk of her afternoon working through a snuffle mat to find every last piece of kibble. As you might expect from a coonhound, food is her love language so make sure to keep things far off the counters. After all that she is perfectly happy to curl up in a ball and nap the rest of the day away. Fair warning though, she is not a morning dog. Convincing her to wake up is roughly equivalent to getting a teenager up for school on a Monday. She will look at you like you have completely lost your mind and would much rather snuggle in bed for hours. By the afternoon she is a completely different dog.She does well with twice daily walks of around 30 minutes, loves roaming a yard, and would do best in a home with outdoor space. She is incredibly chill when people are home and just as content when left alone, typically sleeping the day away without issue. She is not anxious or needy, she just genuinely prefers to be in the same room as her person. Fair warning, she tends to pick a favorite and it is usually the dad.She will absolutely howl when the doorbell rings. It sounds dramatic and it is. But the second the door opens she switches to full welcoming committee mode and wants to say hello to everyone. She is great with older kids though sometimes forgets how big she is when she gets excited. Being a hound she also has a thing for squirrels and cats, so a home without cats would be ideal. Storms are not her thing either, but a lap and her thunder blanket sort that out quickly.Melly does best as the only dog in the home as she does get possessive with food around other animals.  She is ok with other dogs as long as food is not involved. She thrives with a consistent routine and is loving to everyone she meets. She does very occasionally have a sleep startle reflex where she will wake up briefly disoriented, but settles right back down and it is rarely an issue. If you want a dog with personality, humor, a funny howl, and a whole lot of love to give, Melly is your girl. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Story
Willa Belle is the type of girl that never meets a stranger! When she’s out and about on the town, she wants to be sure every person and every dog knows that she’s their new best friend. Once you get home, she’s ready to snuggle on the couch and binge watch Dexter with you. At around three years old, she’s the perfect mix of energetic enough to keep up, but grown up enough to know when to chill. She is doing very well with house training and settles quickly in a crate. Willa would love a home with another dog or two and maybe her own comfy dog bed (although she's happy to share!) **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment. Story
Meet Parka 🤍 Parka is a 45-pound, middle-aged beagle mix who has been waiting over two years for her forever home, continuously overlooked because she is a timid girl. We know her person is out there. When Parka first entered the shelter, she was labeled “reactive” and came very close to losing her life due to her fear of people and other dogs. What no one knew at the time was that she was pregnant and nearing labor which explained her fearfulness. Shortly after arriving in foster care, she gave birth. Despite everything, she was a devoted, loving mom. Her one surviving puppy has long since been adopted—but Parka is still waiting. Since then, Parka has overcome so much. She completed heartworm treatment and had a tumor removed, and today she is fully vetted, healthy, and ready for a fresh start. She has gained a ton of confidence in her foster home and even did a board and train with a professional trainer to learn basic commands and build more confidence. Parka is a really good dog. She’s gentle, sweet, and thrives in a calm home. She loves other dogs and gains so much confidence from them, so a home with another friendly dog is a must for her. With her foster mom, she is affectionate and loyal. She can be a little shy with new people (especially men), but with patience and kindness, she warms up beautifully. She might always remain timid with men, so any men - if any - in her forever home have to be extra patient with her. She is crate trained, potty trained, and does great in the home. She's gained amazing leash skills and now goes out and about with her foster mom and fur sibling. After everything she’s been through, Parka is simply looking for peace, love, and someone who will make her feel safe forever. She has so much love left to give, she just needs someone to give her the chance. Meet and greets and adoption trials are available! Apply at: BridgeBetweenAnimalRescue.org/adopt 📍 Parka is our only dog located in Fort Mill, SC

Story
Meet Josie! Josie came to us after spending her entire young life in a shelter, and now that she finally knows what it feels like to be in a home, she’s blooming more every day. She is believed to be a beagle mix and is fully grown at about 35 pounds — a perfect, compact companion for someone looking for a gentle, loyal dog. Josie has picked up home life beautifully. She’s fully crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained, and she knows commands like sit, wait, stay, and more. She truly craves love from humans and seeks it out, wanting to stay close and soak up affection once she feels connected. Because she didn’t get to socialize much during her early developmental stage, Josie can be shy with new people and new situations at first. But with patience, calm voices, and a soft approach, she warms up quickly and becomes incredibly affectionate. She’s also dog friendly, enjoying play time or giving her canine friends gentle face kisses, and loves peaceful days spent lounging, walking, or being near her person. Her play style is quirky, so a dog that matches her is best! Josie's ideal home is a quiet, gentle home where she can continue building confidence while feeling safe and loved. She thrives with a human who is confident yet gentle. If you’re looking for a sweet, well-mannered girl who will reward your kindness with deep devotion, Josie is ready to meet you. Josie is fully vetted — spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and on prevention. Meet and greets and adoption trials are available! Apply at: BridgeBetweenAnimalRescue.org/adopt

Loki is an amazing dog! Super smart, full of energy, super trainable, though a bit stubborn. He is a happy, strong dog that loves playing with other dogs, going to the dog park, running alongside you while you jog or bike. He would do great on a large peice of property or farm with other dogs and or room to roam around. We do not have the capacity to get him the excercize that he truly needs here in our suburban setting.
