Story
Could you use a hug today? Well, Carl Dean is your man! This little bundle of joy doesn't seem to meet a stranger. Not only is he stunningly handsome and quite photogenic, he's a happy guy that loves to gives hugs. While we don't know about Carl Dean's past, we do know he has a voice and can be quite talkative, so not best suited for apartment living. He loves hanging out with his canine friends, but not willing to share his food. He is a great size, at 33 lbs - but is a strong boy and can pull a bit on walks. Carl Dean is new to the rescue and we will update his bio as we learn more about him.  **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Please note we are unable to hold dogs for adopters as this ties up valuable foster homes. Please understand that we are an all volunteer group and we have jobs outside of this organization.  We do our best to provide quick responses but occasionally they are a little slower.  If you do not receive a response in 48 hours, please resend to make sure it's received. ##2332885##

Wilma Jean has not had the best of luck. We pulled her from a shelter after someone shot her in the leg. Seriously, we can't make this stuff up. :( And as it’s not surprising, she is the sweetest soul and just wants to play and doesn’t understand why she can’t run around. She is currently getting the best care by our vet and will be in a cast for the coming weeks. In the meantime, Wilma Jean is available for a foster to adopt home while her leg heals. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Story
Bradley is a three-year-old hound with a heart as big as his floppy ears, who was patiently waiting as a Berkeley County Animal Centers longest resident before he met his CCR foster family. Brimming with love, Bradley is the perfect companion for someone looking for a gentle and laid-back pup to share their life with. In his foster home, he has been nothing short of wonderful. He's a quiet, snuggly guy who adores snuggles and cozy moments on his dog bed. He adores his foster family's kids (ages 6 and 3) and he's been incredibly gentle (if not a bit timid) with them. Bradley's calm and easygoing nature means he's happy just being near you, content to relax by your side. He's good on a leash and does well in his crate though he prefers sleeping peacefully on his dog bed at night. Bradley's low-key, affectionate personality makes him a dream companion for a family or individual who appreciates his chill vibe and big, loving heart. Bradley has never shown any signs of aggression but is easily startled and is very submissive. He is still learning how to be a dog and is slightly timid when presented with new things (cats, energetic dogs, loud noises, the vet). He would do best in a home where his owners are patient as he learns to come out of his shell! During his pre-op bloodwork, we learned that Bradley’s kidney numbers were a bit concerning, so we started him on a special kidney diet food. Over time, his numbers have improved! He will need to stay on the preseciption diet food. We know it will take a special person to open their heart and home to our precious Bradley, but we also know he's worth it! If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application.  We do allow out of state adoptions and any transport costs are at the expense of the adopter.  If you have further questions about this dog, please email us at ccradopt@gmail.com and someone will be in touch as soon as possible. Story
Nola is pure joy! She’s a bit timid in new situations, but is learning very quickly how great life is in a home. Found as a stray at a rural shelter, you can tell she hasn’t had an easy life. We have no idea how many litters of puppies this poor girl has had. She amazes us with her gentle temperament and desire to be loved. We are enjoying watching her gain confidence and find her hound voice. She is a perfect size around 40 lbs. Nola is house and crate trained, and lets her foster mom know each day just how grateful she is to have this new start to life. **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment. Story
This peppy little nugget is seeking a best friend that she can cuddle and play with. Weather that friend has 2 legs or 4, she would not mind. Having the look of a walker and the size of a large beagle she is a perfect size for a smaller home, car rides, sharing your bed or snuggling in your recliner. Miss Pippa is very fun loving with other dogs and incredibly submissive. She will happily let her hound friends chew her ears, share her bone and her kennel or bed. So far, her house manners have been great. But, with some puppy energy still running through her, she will chew things that look “tasty” if left unattended and bored. Her kennel manners are pretty good. She will happily sleep through the night but does so much better if her kennel can at least be in your room. While she may be a smaller package, she has an amazing bark that has baritone that could shame a St. Bernard. While she does play quietly and does not use her voice often, she will let you know if UPS or FedEx are outside and loves to challenge the train horn as it goes by. While this little nugget may be apartment sized, she may not be an amazing fit for long term apartment living.  **This dog is heartworm positive and will be treated by the rescue and will be available for foster to adopt for a local family in or near Charleston, SC that is comfortable with the restriction requirements for the duration of treatment.
