He looks like a mix of Coonhound, Redbone, and Labrador, though that’s just our best guess. He came to us when a small community shelter didn’t have the space or resources to give him the care he deserved. The change has been a lot for him, and he can feel a bit overwhelmed in the shelter environment, so a little patience will go a long way as he settles in and shows his true personality. The previous shelter shared that Hanker Chief is the sweetest boy. He loves attention, is very friendly, and enjoys being close to people. They also noted that he’s a jumper, which fits his enthusiastic and affectionate nature. At about 2 years old, Hanker Chief is ready for a fresh start with someone who can offer consistency, kindness, and a calm place to land. With time and understanding, he has all the makings of a wonderful companion.

Meet Ozzie! Salado, Tx Ozzie is a handsome 3-year-old, 44lb foxhound who was at risk of euthanasia and walked out of the shelter with a second chance. He’s gentle, sweet, and incredibly loving. Great with kids, cats, chickens and other dogs. He would pair best with a chill dog sibling. Rough play isn’t his style. He’s potty trained, crate trained, quiet, and an easy, well-mannered companion. Loves toys (especially crinkle ones), rides great in the car, snuggles, and yes… he will admire his fine self in the mirror. With those long, gorgeous legs, he may try a little counter surfing now and then but responds to “no”. He is an incredibly sweet angel. He’s the kind of dog who fits right into your life and makes it better.
