Story
Let's talk about Patience for a moment! This incredibly loyal girl is beyond ready for her forever family to give her the life she deserves. Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix Age: 4 Years Weight: 60lbs When we received the call back in February that our local shelter had this very scared and very pregnant girl needing rescue, we knew we had to help. We took Patience in and 6 days after getting settled into foster, she gave birth! Her puppies have all been adopted, but Patience still waits for her happy ever after to come. Patience has come sooo far with her social skills and is beyond ready to find the right family. She is extremely loyal to her people and protective of her home. She is fully potty trained and knows her basic commands. She is very treat motivated, walks great on a leash, and enjoys car rides. She would do best in a home with someone who understand she needs time and space to decompress. Because she is very protective of her home, she will need to be crated or put into a bedroom initally when new people come over. She does respond well when she is told "No" or "Leave It", but she will need time to gain her new family's trust before she will become comfortable enough to respond to those commands. She is more comfortable with woman than men, so a female only home is a MUST. Unfortunately, we believe she may have been mistreated by men and is therefore untrusting of them. She was in foster with an adult male for over 4 months and never came around to him. She would charge him at the door everything he came home from work - she is just VERY protective of her home and the women and children in it. She has since moved into another foster home without any men and is doing much better. Men still cannot come into the foster home without her being contained otherwise she will charge them. An adult only home, or a home with children over 8 is also preferred. She loves kids, but because of her inital fear of new people and places, children that understand they must be respectful of her space is a MUST. Patience would do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES them, but she could also thrive as the only dog in the right home. She has been in foster with cats, but should not be left unsupervised with them as she sometimes views them as something she can play with and chase. Again, she responds well when told "No" or to "Leave It". If you're looking for a very loyal and protective dog to add to your pack, Patience is the one for you!
