Story
Hi, I’m Copper--a 50 pound, 9 month old Ridgeback mix. I am up to date on all of my vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. I am house- and crate-trained. I’m a little shy at first but after I warm up, I’m the best friend you could ever find. I would be good with kids of any age since I’m so mild mannered. I’m working on training at Just Dog People and I’m learning all sorts of things like “touch”, “paws up”, and “place”. I’ll learn leash manners soon but I’m timid on a leash. I love my foster dog brothers and sisters and enjoy running in a fenced in yard. I haven’t been cat tested however, I have a very mild personality so with a proper introduction, I should be fine. I love to snuggle and I’m not quite aware of the fact that I’m not a lap dog. I love balls and toys, and I don’t mind sharing. Story
Meet Roni — a 6&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 53 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a heart full of love and a deep desire to be close to her people.   Quick Facts: Name: Roni Breed: Rhodesian Ridgeback Mix Age: 6 years old Weight: 53 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes, but not needed Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes, best with kids who can handle jumpiness Energy Level: Medium   Fence Required: Yes   About Roni’s Breed: Our best guess is that Roni is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mixed breed. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are known for their loyal, athletic, and deeply devoted nature. Originally bred as hunting and guardian dogs, they’re confident, intelligent, and form strong bonds with their families. Despite their impressive presence, they’re often gentle, affectionate companions who love being close to their people and thrive on routine and connection.   An ideal home for a Rhodesian Ridgeback is one that offers consistent companionship, regular exercise, and a secure outdoor space. They do best with families who appreciate an active, people&#226&#128&#145oriented dog and can provide structure, positive training, and plenty of time together. With the right balance of activity and affection, they become incredibly loyal, loving members of the household.     What to Love about Roni: This beautiful girl is the definition of a loyal companion. She adores her humans and hopes to find a family who is home more often than not, because being near her people is truly her happy place. She’s convinced she’s a 50&#226&#128&#145lb lap dog and will gladly curl up beside you (or on you!) whenever she gets the chance.   Roni is house trained, crate trained, and has such great manners that she can be left alone without a crate. She has medium energy — the perfect blend of playful and cuddly — and enjoys her twice&#226&#128&#145daily 1–2 mile walks, where she shines on the leash. She’ll need a fenced yard where she can safely run and play. She greets people warmly and interacts well with everyone, though she tends to be a bit of a “girl’s girl” and especially loves female energy. She does well with older school&#226&#128&#145aged kids, though her excited jumping may be too much for little ones.   She’s been good with cats so far, though she may chase outdoor cats because she thinks they want to play. She’s met female dogs successfully and would likely do well with males too. Whether she’s your one&#226&#128&#145and&#226&#128&#145only or has a doggy buddy, she’ll thrive as long as she gets plenty of love and companionship. She also has some natural guard&#226&#128&#145dog tendencies and will bark at people walking by — she takes her job of watching over her home seriously.   Roni’s Rad Highlights: 6&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 53 lb possible Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a deeply loving, people&#226&#128&#145oriented personality House trained, crate trained, and has excellent home manners — can be left alone without a crate Medium&#226&#128&#145energy girl who enjoys 1–2 mile walks twice a day and is great on a leash Needs a fenced yard to safely play and explore Friendly with people and especially loves female energy; good with older school&#226&#128&#145aged kids Has done well with cats indoors and has met dogs politely Loyal, cuddly, and convinced she’s a 50&#226&#128&#145lb lap dog Has some natural guard&#226&#128&#145dog tendencies and will bark at people passing by Best suited for a home where someone is around often — she loves being close to her humans   Roni is a sweet, affectionate, head&#226&#128&#145tilting beauty who wants nothing more than to be part of a loving family. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly, people&#226&#128&#145oriented companion, Roni is ready to be your devoted best friend.   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
