Hiya! I’m Dale! Are you looking for an adventurer? I’d love to be your right hand gal! I am around 2 years old. I have excellent manners, I’m house broken, I keep my kennel tidy, I know how to sit and lay down, I’m great on a leash too! I can be mellow and I can be very playful. I’d do good with dogs of that temperament! I'm a little intimidated by little dogs, so maybe none of those... I absolutely love people, I get excitable when I first see you but then I settle down quite nicely. I’m so eager to learn and understand whatever it is my human needs me to do! I’m a love bug all the way around. My dream home is an active one! Hiking, swimming, nature walks.. you name it! Can’t wait to meet the purfect family for me! Dale is about 2 years old. She is spayed, updated on all vaccines. She is currently on heartworm and flea preventative.

Welcome Skipper to CCPAL Rescue. Skipper is a 90-pound Ridgeback/Dane mix is our best guess. He is a mush to the people he knows and his breed is very loyal. He was adopted out as a tiny puppy and a year and a half later he was found on the streets skinny and with hair loss. He is now back at the rescue and he is doing great. He is friendly to all of us and very happy to see his friends. He didn’t jump up but he does pull on leash. I don’t think he got to do much leash work. He has an adorable widow’s peak. He would be great for a family who has a traveling father or someone not home. You could feel safe that Skipper would keep the family safe. He looks intimidating and has a big bark but very very gentle and goofy to those he loves. He has a low coat and not a big shedding dog. We would like someone who has worked with an extra-large breed or a Ridgeback. He will do good with a strong owner that is willing to work with him to give him direction and training. He is one of our favorites and we think he may be related to JJ who is also available at CCPAL. Skipper has been checked over by the vet and is in good health. He has been given a Bravecto and is growing hair and putting on weight here at the rescue. He would be a great partner for a jogger and due to his large size could definitely keep up with even a faster stride. He can go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Scooby came into the county shelter as a stray with his two brothers. We called them the "Three Musketeers" as they were always looking for adventure! Scooby was pulled along with his brother Brownie by Kerrville Pets Alive during a euthanasia call, because they were just too sweet to be lost! They required some training and work on their social skills and are improving every day. They now have made friends with all the dogs at their foster home. As Catahoulas are excellent hunters, they are amazing in their natural instinctive skills. Scooby is alert and protective. He is very affectionate, attentive, and LOVES to swim. He would make a wonderful tree dog and can tree anything that moves. He is neutered and has all shots up to date and is heartworm negative.

Story
Brindle came the county shelter with two housemates, who have since found their forever home. They were surrendered because of an altercation when an unsecured dog strayed into their yard. His two housemates are in families with other dogs and are doing well. Brindle may someday do well with another dog in his family, but for right now, we recommend him as an only dog. After 4 months of "incarceration", he has not changed at all in his zest for life, his love for all the staff and volunteers and his desire to chase the ball, frisbee... anything for hours on end. There is a softer side to him. He is also very good at crawling in your lap if allowed. Please don't ask us "How is he with cats?".... A dog this motivated by moving toys, should probably not be in a family with cats. We also suggest that children in the family be old enough, so they won't be knocked down by an active dog. We are thankful that Brindle was able to make it through three euthanasia calls. He is 4 years old, and still active and very happy. He was a celebrity earlier this fall when he was featured for the season opener for the local high school football season. We all want to see Brindle get a home of his very own!
