Story
Hi there! My name is Bubba and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I'm a 2 year old, Male, Rottweiler mix who came to SB Humane in search of a new caring home. This goofy, happy guy was found in Kern County alongside another dog before making his way to our shelter, and it’s pretty clear Bubba loves having canine friends around. He’s social, playful, and has an easygoing style that makes him a joy to watch in dog playgroups. Bubba is great at matching energy with other dogs and loves mutual play full of bouncy play bows and goofy wrestling sessions. He takes turns well, reads social cues nicely, and naturally pauses for breaks when he’s ready to recharge. Even when another dog gets a little overexcited, Bubba stays friendly and keeps the vibe fun and relaxed. His overall personality can best be described as “lovable dork.” He’s silly, sweet, and always looks like he’s just happy to be included. Bubba would absolutely thrive in a home with playful dog buddies or adopters who want a fun companion for adventures, walks, and daily laughs. Outside of playtime, Bubba also has a soft side — he can be a huge couch potato and would happily soak up attention, pets, and cuddle time after a fun day. Interested in meeting me? Adoption Centers are open daily 12-4:30pm, closed Wednesdays. Adoptions are on a first-come first served basis. For more information, please email Adopt@SBHumane.org or call 805-964-4777. When I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adopters will receive a certificate for a free veterinary exam and our partners at Purina will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Our adoption fees help support our community programs and the next animal who needs our help!

Story
Hi there! I’m King and I'm a 1 1/2 year old Male Rottweiler Mix currently living at the Santa Barbara Campus, eager for a new home! All hail King! This goober may not come with a crown, but he definitely carries himself like royalty. King is a handsome, goofy young guy with a big heart and a soft side reserved for those lucky enough to join his royal court. King was surrendered through no fault of his own after his owner fell on hard times and was living out of her car. Despite all the changes in his life, King has remained a loyal, loving companion who’s ready for a fresh start and a kingdom to finally call home. This royal gentleman already has a solid foundation — he’s crate trained, knows “sit,” rides well in the car, and loads in and out of vehicles like a pro. On outings, he’s walked calmly past gardeners, children, people, dogs, and busy environments without issue. While he can pull on leash at times (especially when excited), he’s manageable and eager to continue learning. He’ll even go home with free basic manners classes to help polish up his transformation. King can be a little cautious with strangers at first — every ruler has to protect the castle, after all — but once he warms up, he’s all about affection and belly rubs. Underneath his big, sturdy exterior is a sensitive sweetheart who really enjoys bonding with his people. With other dogs, King tends to prefer respectful companions over nonstop chaos. He enjoys play in smaller doses, does well with dogs who match his energy, and is great at communicating boundaries when another dog gets too rowdy. He’s shown he can coexist nicely, engage in playful chase games, and adjust his play style depending on the dog he’s with. King would thrive with someone who appreciates large breeds, understands that confidence can take time to build, and wants a loyal sidekick who’s equal parts noble protector and giant cuddle bug. If you’re looking for a handsome young dog ready to rule your heart (and probably your couch), King is ready to meet his forever family! Adoptions are open 12pm-4:30pm every day, except Wednesdays, and no appointment is needed. Like all SBH animals, when I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoptions also include a certificate for a complimentary post-adoption veterinary exam from a local clinic and our partners at Hills Science Diet will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Need some supplies? Both SB Humane Campuses have retail centers stocked with everything you need, at comparable prices, and your purchase helps support our mission. Hope to see you soon!
