Meet Ruger, a Rottweiler mix with a name that sounds tough and a personality that’s anything but. This gentle giant would much rather be pressed against you on the couch than playing the tough guy - and at his size, he makes a pretty effective weighted blanket.
Ruger is house and crate trained and gets along with dogs of all sizes, cats, and kids. He loves carrying around his stuffies, socks, and slippers, and he has the cutest way of announcing himself with a deep little “Ruuuuuuuu.” At heart, though, he’s happiest when he’s getting plenty of love.
If your ideal cuddle buddy happens to be a heavyweight, Rugger is ready to report for couch duty.
Ruger is currently undergoing slow-kill treatment for heartworm disease. The Artemis Project will continue to provide the necessary monthly medication for treatment until cleared of heartworms.

Currently this sweet baby is with our rescue, The Artemis Project, in Arkansas.
We DO, however, transport monthly to the metro Detroit area of MI. Because we’re able to transport, we ARE able to accept adoption applications directly from residents of MI.
Why do we transport? Because animal overpopulation is severe in our region, and stray and unwanted dogs have very little chance of finding a home here. These babies are, however, at a high risk of being neglected, abused, abandoned, euthanized or even shot (it’s “the way things are done” for some people down here). YOU are truly one of the only safe and happy endings for the lucky ones we are able to rescue.
Upon approval of your adoption application, we will then transport your new furbaby to you in the metro Detroit area for just a small travel expense fee of $50 in addition to the adoption fee.

Before we can change your new furbaby’s status from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $50 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we will stop accepting applications.
The entire adoption fee must be paid prior to the transport in order to ensure your new baby has a spot on the transport.
