We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. October 1, 2026, 5:52 pm

Story

Oh Freya, what a sweet girl. She is estimated to be about 10 months old and weighs 35 pounds right now. Meet Freya, such a little cutie who is ready to blossom with the right family! Though she is very timid and gentle, Freya's heart is full of love, and she is ready to share it with her people. She is so connecting and likes to stay right with you, only wanting to be close. Freya may cower and try to make herself small when she's scared or unsure, but with leadership and confidence building, she will thrive. She really looks to you for reassurance and wants to please you. This hopeful puppy is eager to connect and just needs a loving home to help her feel safe and secure. If you're looking to give Freya the guidance she needs, she'll repay you with endless love and adorable moments. She will need a home where any children are at least 8 years old with more timid, submissive nature. Freya would love it if you came to meet her, she can't wait for a family to love. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Freya would love to meet them. She is a little timid at first with other dogs, then likes to play bow and is engaging. Freya has a polite, more submissive greeting, but seems excited to interact. If you are interested in Freya and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story

**If you are interested in adopting Dobby, please contact Gabby at 256-519-0368.** 🐾 Meet Dobby! Dobby is a young Pit Bull/Husky mix with plenty of personality and energy to share! At about 58 weeks old, Dobby is looking for an active forever home where he can get the exercise, enrichment, and companionship he needs to thrive. Dobby would love a home with a secure yard and people who enjoy staying active. His Husky side means he has plenty of energy and would benefit from a family who is ready to keep him mentally and physically engaged. He’ll do best with people who have the time and patience to help him continue learning and working through that classic Husky energy. According to his current family, Dobby has not shown a history of biting or aggressive behavior and has done well with dogs and cats. His history with children is unknown, so introductions should be handled thoughtfully. Dobby is neutered, current on his vaccinations, and up to date on his preventatives. ❤️ His family is rehoming him because they recently welcomed a baby and no longer have the time and energy needed to keep up with his activity level. They want to find Dobby a home where he can get the attention, exercise, and adventures he deserves. If you're looking for an energetic, fun-loving companion and have the time and space to keep a young Husky mix happy, Dobby may be your guy! 🐾 Ideal home: 🏡 Secure yard 🐕 Dog-friendly 🐈 Cat-friendly 👟 Active household ❤️ People willing to provide continued exercise, enrichment, and guidance 👶 Experience with children preferred; compatibility with children is unknown *This pet is featured through our Pet Re-Homing Program. This is a private pet. Please use your best judgement when deciding to meet. Any questions or comments regarding this pet should be directed to the owner listed. Again, this is not a pet affiliated with Oakland County Animal Shelter. This program was created to help residents of Oakland County needing placement of a loving pet and hopefully avoiding a stressful shelter environment.

Story

Meet Tongue, a 6-month-old Rottweiler who already weighs 60 pounds! He is a typical Rottweiler puppy with a big personality. He can be barky when he is frustrated or wants something and is still working on his manners. He also has a rough, wrestly play style with other dogs and will need continued guidance to learn appropriate play.Because of his size, strength, and breed traits, Tongue would do best with an adopter who has experience with Rottweilers or other large guardian breeds. He will need someone who can provide structure, training, exercise, and plenty of mental enrichment as he grows into a big, powerful adult dog.
