Meet Rooky – The Booty-Scratch Enthusiast With a Nose for Adventure2 years old • Neutered Male • Rottweiler MixRooky didn’t exactly walk into the shelter — he burst out like he had somewhere extremely important to be (spoiler: it was the nearest smell). This bouncy, happy guy is a little jumpy with excitement but once he’s out? He’s all smiles, sniffs, and butt-leaning affection. He’s easy to handle, knows sit, and takes treats like a true gentleman. Toys and balls? Hard pass. Rooky would much rather explore the world with his nose and then back himself firmly into you for legendary booty scratches. On leash he can pull a bit — again, those smells are calling — but it’s all enthusiasm, no drama. With other dogs, Rooky is curious and friendly, even when they’re having big reactive feelings at him through the fence. He came in with another dog and seems genuinely interested in making friends. His previous owner had to surrender due to moving and reports that Rooky was housebroken, loves the car, had some training, didn’t try to escape, and was friendly with adults, kids, and other dogs. Basically, he showed up with references — and they’re glowing. If you’re looking for a joyful, sniff-powered, booty-scratch-loving best friend, Rooky is ready to lean into your life… literally.

Story
Meet Tank – Your New Best Walking BuddyTank is a 6-year-old male Rottweiler with a soft heart, steady paws, and a curious nose that loves discovering the world around him. He walks beautifully on leash and enjoys strolls where he can sniff, explore, and take in all the good smells life has to offer. Tank was surrendered by his previous owner due to life circumstances, but he comes with a great history of training and manners. He is housetrained and crate trained, walks well on leash, has had obedience training, does not escape, and is not destructive. This gentle guy is wonderfully polite with treats, taking them with the softest mouth. He especially loves enrichment time, like working on a snuffle mat and searching for hidden goodies. Tank leans into affection, happily soaking up pets and seeking out your attention. With his calm, mellow nature, Tank shines brightest with someone kind, patient, and loving. If you’re looking for a loyal, steady-hearted companion who is ready to share gentle adventures and quiet moments, Tank is ready to be your devoted friend.

Meet Wiggle Worm – 80% Wiggle, 20% Worm, 100% JoyWiggle Worm is what happens when happiness grows giant paws and learns how to lean directly into your soul for pets. This boy doesn’t walk — he wiggles with purpose. He is wildly playful and considers toys his life’s calling. Toss him one and you may not see him again for a while… not because he ran away, but because he’s over there having the time of his life entertaining himself like a one-dog circus.Wiggle Worm already knows sit and down, which is impressive considering his entire body is permanently set to celebration mode. He is very strong on leash — think “enthusiastic parade float” — so he’ll do best with someone who enjoys a little arm workout. This exuberant, happy-go-lucky lovebug leans into every pet like it’s the best moment he’s had all day (and honestly, it probably is). If you’re looking for a dog with a massive zest for life, comically large paws, and enough joy to power a small city, Wiggle Worm is ready to bounce straight into your heart.

Story
Tom Hardy is a handsome, versatile and charismatic guy. This sweet guy came to Animal Humane New Mexico from Ruidoso after the devastating floods last summer, and in that time he's shown what a well-mannered gem he is. He's gotten to spend time as an office dog buddy and in a home environment, getting some breaks from the shelter. Here are his specialties: Knows SIT! Can SHAKE with both paws! WALKS great on leash! Couch POTATO! Plays FETCH and brings the ball back! PLAYFUL but not rowdy! Understands "go lay down"! Takes treats very GENTLY! Has shown himself to be TIDY and house trained (though every pup needs a little grace adjusting to a new home at first)! Enjoys RIDING in cars! Tom is a little too interested in cats, so a feline-free home is best. Tom Hardy is also a PAWS dog, which means he comes with 1 year of FREE vet care. This sweet boy has so much affection to give and is just waiting for the perfect family to call his own. Will you please give this handsome guy a forever home? A team member adds, " I’ve been reading to Tom Hardy for a while, and he is one of my favorite dogs I’ve met at Animal Humane. He is a perfect dog—sweet, gentle and silly. He is so goofy and lovable. I don’t understand why he hasn’t been snatched up immediately."

Story
Hi! I’m Littles, although there's nothing little about my personality. I’m a super friendly, fun-loving girl with BIG energy and an even bigger heart. I love people, affection and pretty much every toy or game ever invented. I walk nicely on leash, take treats gently and have been told I have an adorable little wiggle when I strut my stuff on walks. I have experience living in a home, where I was a good roommate - I'm crate trained and mostly potty trained. I’m friendly with other dogs and love to play - especially rowdy play - so I do best with doggy friends who match my energy and play style. If you have a pup and/or kiddos at home, please bring them in so we can all meet and make sure the energy level is a good fit. I’m smart, athletic and curious, so I'll thrive in a home that can keep me busy and loved. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, high-energy sidekick, I might just be your girl! A team member adds, "Littles is the sweetest young mama dog. She’s really very sweet and loving. She takes treats gently and she walks well on leash. She has the cutest little wiggle while walking and a very sweet smile."
