Story
Have you ever wanted a goofy 93 lb. lap dog?? Prince is your guy!! We were finally able to pull Prince from the shelter, thanks to our wonderful fosters!! Prince is a loveable, playful, charming guy who is good with other pups and is fantastic with cats! He is up to date on vaccines & vetting. He was euth listed at a local shelter after a minor bite incident in which he clearly expressed discomfort and his warning signals were ignored. He was a staff/volunteer favorite, while at the shelter. He is with foster parents who are extremely dedicated to setting all of the dogs that they foster up for success, They really work to understand their quirks & work through any issues they might have. Prince is really becoming his best self, and is ready to find his forever family. He is muzzle trained. Prince does prefer a quiet, adult only household. He is somewhat slow to warm up to new people, especially men. If you are patient & give him enough treats and calm slow interactions, he will end up being your best friend.

Story
Welcome Pork-Chop to the rescue! He is a little over a year old, & 103 lbs. of adorableness. He is working on getting up to date on vaccines & vetting. He will be neutered prior to adoption. He will also be getting some training, once we find him a foster or foster to adopt home. He is a very happy, friendly boy, but needs to learn some manners. He does well with all humans, other than potentially knocking over small humans when he is excited. He loves playing with other dogs, and while he is curious about cats, he doesn’t show any reaction when swatted by a cat. We are looking for a strong adopter with Rottweiler experience.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Monkey. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. My brother Goblin and I were found as strays in the Salem area near Wal Mart. We were finally able to be captured by the Humane Agent after a couple of days on the run. To say that we were extremely neglected would be an understatement. We were covered in fleas and ticks. We had missing hair and flea allergy dermatitis. We had apparently been housed in small areas and were caked in feces and urine... Aside from all of that, we have had no real socialization before making our way into the pound. It appears that we haven't been handled at all. Neither of us knew how to walk on a leash and we were didn't know much about receiving attention and affection. We have been getting lots of work with leash training and we're both doing extremely well. We're also learning how to be loved and we're absolutely flourishing. I will need a family that can help continue giving me plenty of socialization and training. I will definitely need work with housebreaking. I have probably never had any type of training at all, especially not housebreaking or crate training, so I will need a patient and understanding family. I absolutely love other dogs! I love to play and a home with other dogs that are well behaved and trained would be great for me. If you're looking for a perfect dog, I'm probably not it, but if you have some patience and a lot of love to give, you might be able to make me the perfect dog for you! Please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Maggie is a 3-year-old sweetheart who perfectly balances couch potato energy with a love for adventure. This low-riding, beefy girl has a gentle soul and one very important life goal: to be as close to her people as possible at all times. Maggie recently returned to her foster home after experiencing a frightening incident while training to be a service dog for her adopter. She  was attacked by another dog. While she came back with some scars, her spirit remained completely intact. True to her nature, Maggie continues to be incredibly loving, trusting, and sweet. You would never guess what she’s been through — her heart is still wide open, and she greets the world with kindness and affection. She absolutely adores car rides, happily joins in on adventures, and then transforms into the ultimate cuddle companion once back home. Personal space? Maggie doesn’t really believe in it. She wants to lean on you, sit next to you, and remind you constantly that you are her favorite person. Maggie is housebroken and does wonderfully in her crate, especially when a treat is involved (food is definitely her love language!). Toys are optional, but snacks are everything — her foster mom keeps treats in moderation to help her maintain her healthy 50-pound figure. Though Maggie has done well with my foster dogs she’s met in the past and loves her large foster brother, she would truly thrive as the center of someone’s world. After spending her early years without consistent love — and previously raising puppies of her own — Maggie is now fully embracing the pampered life she always deserved. She was heartworm positive when rescued but completed treatment like a champ and is now healthy, active, and ready for adventures big and small. What Maggie wants most is simple: a safe home, a soft couch, and a human who will love her as fiercely as she loves them. Adoption is $300 which includes her spay, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip and current monthly flea/tick prevention. To fill out an application for this animal or a general application click HERE.All animals are up to date on age appropriate shots, microchipped and fixed. To meet one of our animals we require an approved application. You can fill one out at https://tobyscrittercoverescue.org/adoptionapp/ May 18, 2026, 6:10 pm
