Marcus is a two-year-old, rottweiler/husky mix with a lot of energy and love to give. Marcus has been living with me for just over a year, but we eventually found out that my partner is unfortunately allergic to his dander. His energy needs are also a bit more than I (and my senior dog) can meet. He would do great with a runner or a big backyard/farm where he can chase things to his heart's content. He's a total snuggle bug when he's calm and will happily spend entire evenings with this head in your lap, but also LOVES to play and wrestle. He could definitely use someone who has experience training, though, as he likes to play nip when he gets bored. He is, however, very trainable and happy to do what you ask for a treat. His experience with other dogs is mixed, since he has been known to have some leash aggression. He's a definite no-go for any homes with cats, though! Are you ready to snuggle up with this smiley goofball?

Have you ever wanted a goofy 95 lb. lap dog?? Prince is your guy!! We were finally able to pull Prince from the shelter, thanks to our wonderful fosters!! Prince is a loveable, playful, charming guy who is good with other pups and is fantastic with cats! He is up to date on vaccines & vetting. He was euth listed at a local shelter after a minor bite incident in which he clearly expressed discomfort and his warning signals were ignored. He was a staff/volunteer favorite, while at the shelter. He is with foster parents who are extremely dedicated to setting all of the dogs that they foster up for success, They really work to understand their quirks & work through any issues they might have. Prince is really becoming his best self, and is ready to find his forever family. Prince does prefer a quiet, adult only household.

Meet Jamison This poor boy was adopted from the rescue as a puppy. A couple years later he was returned due to a divorce. He came back to the shelter scared of new people and unsure of dogs. The volunteers worked with him to build his confidence back up and he was adopted again to only be returned a year later due to another separation. Name: Chico Age: 5 yrs, 11 mos (DOB 3/5/20) Weight: About 115 lbs Likes/Favorite Activities: · Belly Rubs · Treats · Meals · Being near people · ATTENTION! · Nibbling on stuffed toys · Smiling · Talking (barking) Dislikes: None Personality/Temperament: VERY fun loving and super sweet. Listens well! VERY Happy boy! Energy Level: Low-Moderate (rather typical for a dog his age) Favorite Treat(s): ANY, he isn’t picky! Eating Schedule: Twice per day (approx. 7 am & 6 pm). Eats about 2 cups of dry food at each meal He is good with our dogs and was good with our last cat. He has also been very good with the kids he has been around (kids of all ages). He is housetrained with no accidents. He goes to the door and barks if he has to go out. However, we tend to let our pups out more often than “normal” due to our other pups (not due to Chico!) Sometimes, he refuses to go out if he doesn’t have to go. Crate Trained: Never used one with him. Was never needed. Challenges: Honestly none that we have identified yet. He did show his teeth once, but that only happened when he had a baby bunny in the yard. Medical Issues: His ears tend to get dirty often and bother him. We clean them each morning and sometimes have to put drops in them (Mometazole 15g) when he seems to be shaking his head excessively. He will chew at his paws so he takes Apoquel daily for that (approx $100 monthly). He is on Simparaca Trio monthly for flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He also has had 2 surgeries - FHO and TPLO, so he does require glucosamine supplements... he also requires carpet - he does not feel safe walking on other surfaces. While we do not know much about his history prior to coming to live with his foster family (May 2025), Chico is just a very happy boy that has a great demeanor and LOVES to be petted! Meet Bagel. Bagel is a husky/boxer mix (mostly boxer) and is approximately 2 yrs old. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Bagel would do best in a calm home with no kids or older kids that listen and respect animals. She does great with my 3 kids (ages 16, 13, and 9) but does not like when my boys play rough. When I took her in I was told she hated men but I have been working with her and she absolutely loves my husband now. I was told her previous owners had an aggressive man in the house and I’m guessing that’s where her dislike for men came from. However, I feel she is much better now and given a safe environment men are no longer an issue. She just needs to know she is safe. She is crate trained. Bagel is also house trained but does have little accidents when she’s excited so I just try to take her out every 10-15 minutes when she is super excited. She is an absolute love bug. She loves to cuddle up under the blankets and gets tucked in every night. She goes in her crate and I tell her to lay down and then I cover her up and a lot of the times she will lay her head down before the crate is even closed. Bagel also LOVES toys, and I mean loves! She will literally get 20-25 toys out with 20 minutes, and no, sadly she does not put them away lol. Overall she is a very calm girl. She jumps very minimal and usually only when you are playing and getting her wound up. She definitely does have the boxer “boxing” trait. She will absolutely use her paws (I find it super cute). She has never been in the house with cats but we do have lots of barn cats and she doesn’t mind them unless they are eating her food and then she will bark at them. I have not had her with my dogs as my dogs are not other dogs friendly. Although I was told that she gets along with other dogs and I think she would be fine with other dog friendly dogs (but not tested to be clear). She had a lot of fear when I first took her in and she does still need some extra lovins to learn that she is safe and I think she will be the absolute perfect dog. She has a wonderful personality and a very sweet demeanor. She was dog tested and did great, she'd love a friend to play with and show her the ropes! You can apply at www.ldrofohio.org Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1.5 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.
