Story
Meet Fani – A Beautiful Soul Ready for Her Safe Place Fani is a quiet, gentle girl who’s been through more than her fair share—but you’d never know it by the way she looks at you with those soft, trusting eyes. She may be shy at first, but underneath that cautious exterior is a dog just waiting to feel safe, loved, and understood. Fani is the kind of dog who will thrive in a calm, patient home where she can take her time settling in. She’s not the dog who will bound into your arms on day one—but give her space, kindness, and a steady routine, and she’ll blossom into your most loyal companion. Once she trusts you, her affectionate side starts to shine, and it’s truly special. She does well with calm, respectful male dogs but can feel overwhelmed around pushy or high-energy dogs, especially females. With the right match and slow introductions, she could enjoy the company of another dog who respects her space. She also wouldn’t mind being your one and only—she just wants to feel safe. Fani is crate-trained and has wonderful indoor manners. She enjoys peaceful walks, a cozy bed, and your quiet companionship. No chaos, no pressure—just the chance to be a dog in a home where she’s accepted exactly as she is. If you believe in second chances and have room in your heart for a dog who needs a little extra grace, Fani just might be the one. The reward of seeing her trust and love again? That’s the kind of magic only a dog like Fani can give. ———————————————————- The adoption donation for Fani is $250. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention (age appropriate). If you would like to meet this dog, you must have an approved application on file and be willing to travel to the Boardman/Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio area for a meet and greet. Applications will be reviewed/approved and each dog will be placed in the home that can best meet their individual need. A successful adoption is our goal. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of any dog. We require you call your established veterinarian asap to schedule a wellness visit. Our application can be found at the following link: https://form.jotform.com/252614475753058

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi,Marcus Brody here.    For those of you trying to find the husky in me,I don't see it either but my mom did a dna test on me and yep it's in there somewhere. My mom got me from a shelter in Feb. but didn't realize I still had so much puppy still in me.Unfortunately between her working full time and me being too energetic for my older brother she has had to make the hard decision to find me another home that can run out some of my energy.Speaking of running I go on runs with one of her friends and love it.Are you looking for a running partner?I do great with dogs and older kids.My energy is a little too much for younger ones.I love everyone(except cats) and am a big cuddle bug(when I am not being a nosy pup)  Would love an active family that keeps me busy.I am crate trained but only go in for a treat.Who am I kidding I will do anything for a treat. Are you an active family looking for an active boy? Here I am and I am ready for you!Lets meet! Hello! I am new to the shelter! Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff gets to know me better! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Story
We were finally able to pull Prince from the shelter, thanks to our wonderful fosters!! Prince is a loveable, playful, charming guy who is good with other pups and is fantastic with cats! He is up to date on shots and will be chipped prior to adoption. He was euth listed at a local shelter after a minor bite incident in which he clearly expressed discomfort and his warning signals were ignored. He was a staff/volunteer favorite, while at the shelter. Prince prefers a quiet, adult only household.

These pups are in Youngstown, Ohio too!

Story
Meet Bagel. Bagel is a husky/boxer mix (mostly boxer) and is approximately 2 yrs old.  She is spayed and up to date on shots.  Bagel would do best in a calm home with no kids or older kids that listen and respect animals.  She does great with my 3 kids (ages 16, 13, and 9) but does not like when my boys play rough.  When I took her in I was told she hated men but I have been working with her and she absolutely loves my husband now.  I was told her previous owners had an aggressive man in the house and I’m guessing that’s where her dislike for men came from.  However, I feel she is much better now and given a safe environment men are no longer an issue.  She just needs to know she is safe.  She is crate trained.  Bagel is also house trained but does have little accidents when she’s excited so I just try to take her out every 10-15 minutes when she is super excited.  She is an absolute love bug.  She loves to cuddle up under the blankets and gets tucked in every night.  She goes in her crate and I tell her to lay down and then I cover her up and a lot of the times she will lay her head down before the crate is even closed.  Bagel also LOVES toys, and I mean loves!  She will literally get 20-25 toys out with 20 minutes, and no, sadly she does not put them away lol.   Overall she is a very calm girl.   She jumps very minimal and usually only when you are playing and getting her wound up.  She definitely does have the boxer “boxing” trait.  She will absolutely use her paws (I find it super cute).  She has never been in the house with cats but we do have lots of barn cats and she doesn’t mind them unless they are eating her food and then she will bark at them. I have not had her with my dogs as my dogs are not other dogs friendly.  Although I was told that she gets along with other dogs and I think she would be fine with other dog friendly dogs (but not tested to be clear).  She had a lot of fear when I first took her in and she does still need some extra lovins to learn that she is safe and I think she will be the absolute perfect dog. She has a wonderful personality and a very sweet demeanor.   She was dog tested and did great, she'd love a friend to play with and show her the ropes! You can apply at www.ldrofohio.org Our adoption process starts with our application. Once the application is approved, a member of Legacy will contact you to set up a home visit. The home visit usually last 1-1.5 hours and is to make sure our dog and any current dogs/cats are getting along, as well as both of us agreeing it's a fit. At this time the adoption fee is due, and begins the 2 week trial. We will check in during the 2 week trial. If it's not working, our dog is returned to the foster home and all except $100.00 {$75 if Senior} of the adoption fee is returned. At the end of the 2 week trial, you decide if you will finalize the adoption - if finalized, the Adoption Contract is signed and all medical records are turned over to you. If at any time you need to rehome the dog it contractually needs to be returned to Legacy Dog Rescue.  ADOPTION FEE's: Puppies under 6 months:  $199.00 Adults:  $150.00 Seniors (over 7 yrs):  $99.00  If you are interested in one of our dogs please fill out an application:  https://form.jotform.com/193425528783165
