**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Jocko is approximately 5 years old and weighs in at around 90 lbs. He is an absolute big baby. He loves all people. He is an absolute favorite amongst the volunteers that spend extra time giving him attention and doting on him. He has also done well around the other dogs he has met here at the pound. Jocko has some neurological issues that could stem from a wide range of conditions or injuries and the pound, unfortunately, is unable to send him to specialists to find out an exact diagnosis due to cost constraints. At the very least, he would likely need an MRI, which is just not something the pound is able to pay for. He has had a veterinary work up and we have some possibilities ranging from head trauma, trauma to the neck or spine, birth defects, Degenerative changes, etc. So really no small range of things it could be caused by. Jocko's bloodwork all came back great. No concerns with anything there. The thing with his condition is that it could get better (which we don't anticipate), stay the same, or worsen over time. Without an exact diagnosis, it is hard to be able to tell someone what they're getting. He is one of the happiest dogs known to man and if you asked him, he wouldn't know any different. He is truly one of the sweetest, loviest, cuddliest boys. He just wants love. He doesn't act sick. He isn't painful. He still loves to run and play. He just walks like he had one or two too many at the puppy pub. We're doing our best to try to find Jocko a special family or an approved rescue group that can take him in and give him the best life. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Have you ever wanted a goofy 93 lb. lap dog?? Prince is your guy!!We were finally able to pull Prince from the shelter, thanks to our wonderful fosters!!Prince is a loveable, playful, charming guy who is good with other pups and is fantastic with cats! He is up to date on vaccines & vetting. He was euth listed at a local shelter after a minor bite incident in which he clearly expressed discomfort and his warning signals were ignored. He was a staff/volunteer favorite, while at the shelter. He is with foster parents who are extremely dedicated to setting all of the dogs that they foster up for success, They really work to understand their quirks & work through any issues they might have. Prince is really becoming his best self, and is ready to find his forever family. He is muzzle trained. Prince does prefer a quiet, adult only household. He is somewhat slow to warm up to new people, especially men. If you are patient & give him enough treats and calm slow interactions, he will end up being your best friend.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Monkey. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 50 lbs. My brother Goblin and I were found as strays in the Salem area near Wal Mart. We were finally able to be captured by the Humane Agent after a couple of days on the run. To say that we were extremely neglected would be an understatement. We were covered in fleas and ticks. We had missing hair and flea allergy dermatitis. We had apparently been housed in small areas and were caked in feces and urine... Aside from all of that, we have had no real socialization before making our way into the pound. It appears that we haven't been handled at all. Neither of us knew how to walk on a leash and we were didn't know much about receiving attention and affection. We have been getting lots of work with leash training and we're both doing extremely well. We're also learning how to be loved and we're absolutely flourishing. I will need a family that can help continue giving me plenty of socialization and training. I will definitely need work with housebreaking. I have probably never had any type of training at all, especially not housebreaking or crate training, so I will need a patient and understanding family. I absolutely love other dogs! I love to play and a home with other dogs that are well behaved and trained would be great for me. If you're looking for a perfect dog, I'm probably not it, but if you have some patience and a lot of love to give, you might be able to make me the perfect dog for you! Please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. Story
Name: Chico Age: 5 yrs, 11 mos (DOB 3/5/20) Weight: About 115 lbs Likes/Favorite Activities: · Belly Rubs · Treats · Meals · Being near people · ATTENTION! · Nibbling on stuffed toys · Smiling · Talking (barking) Dislikes: None Personality/Temperament: VERY fun loving and super sweet. Listens well! VERY Happy boy! Energy Level: Low-Moderate (rather typical for a dog his age) Favorite Treat(s): ANY, he isn’t picky! Eating Schedule: Twice per day (approx. 7 am & 6 pm). Eats about 2 cups of dry food at each meal He is good with our dogs and was good with our last cat. He has also been very good with the kids he has been around (kids of all ages). He is housetrained with no accidents. He goes to the door and barks if he has to go out. However, we tend to let our pups out more often than “normal” due to our other pups (not due to Chico!) Sometimes, he refuses to go out if he doesn’t have to go. Crate Trained: Never used one with him. Was never needed. Challenges: Honestly none that we have identified yet. He did show his teeth once, but that only happened when he had a baby bunny in the yard. Medical Issues: His ears tend to get dirty often and bother him. We clean them each morning and sometimes have to put drops in them (Mometazole 15g) when he seems to be shaking his head excessively. He will chew at his paws so he takes Apoquel daily for that (approx $100 monthly). He is on Simparaca Trio monthly for flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He also has had 2 surgeries - FHO and TPLO, so he does require glucosamine supplements... he also requires carpet - he does not feel safe walking on other surfaces. While we do not know much about his history prior to coming to live with his foster family (May 2025), Chico is just a very happy boy that has a great demeanor and LOVES to be petted! Literally everyone that has met him LOVES him!! Apply at chirp.me/LDR

Story
Keller spent three long years waiting at Animal Charity before making his way to All About The Pawz Dog Rescue. Three years of being overlooked… and we are so hopeful that this fresh start will finally be his turning point. Keller is deaf but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. He navigates the world with his heart, his eyes, and an incredible ability to connect. He watches you closely, learns your cues, and bonds in the most intentional, beautiful way. There’s something truly special about the way he trusts. He’s around 6 years old and, if you ask us, 100% perfect. Keller loves everyone he meets and is dog friendly (meet required). He enjoys walks, playtime, and the absolute best zoomies in the play yard. It’s impossible not to smile watching him run full speed with pure joy. Older kids only at this time please. After three years of waiting, Keller deserves more than a kennel. He deserves a couch, a yard, a routine, and someone who sees just how amazing he is. If interested in fostering or adopting Keller, please fill out an application found at www.allaboutthepawz.com Located in Youngstown, Ohio - must be within an hour or so of Youngstown. *we do not respond to inquires or matches, please fill out an application and we will reach out via email once received*
