When 6-year-old Roxy arrived at Animal Aid Society, the resident dogs took one look at her and sounded the alarm. Apparently, nobody had told them that a large Rottweiler could also be a complete marshmallow. Roxy hung her head and leaned against a volunteer for reassurance while our pups worked themselves into a frenzy. It didn't take long for everyone to figure out that this enormous girl was about as threatening as a throw pillow.Roxy is a wonderful family dog who came to us when her family's circumstances changed. She's gentle, affectionate, well-mannered, housetrained, and has lived happily with other dogs and young children. There is, however, one rather substantial issue. Roxy is Rubenesque. Voluptuous. Zaftig. She's about 30–40 pounds overweight, which is considerably more Roxy than her joints were designed to support.And that's a shame, because Roxy clearly wants to run and play. Unfortunately, her body isn't cooperating. She needs to lose weight, but this is not a situation where we slap a fitness tracker on her and sign her up for a 5K.For now, the plan is simple: weight-management food, carrots and green beans instead of calorie-packed treats, and portion control. As the pounds come off, she can gradually build up to short walks and more activity. Her joints need relief, not boot camp.Roxy needs someone who can stick to the plan, resist those pleading brown eyes at snack time, and help her become the active, playful Rottweiler she's trying so hard to be.In return, you'll get an exceptionally loving, loyal companion who will lean against you whenever she needs reassurance -- and whenever you need reassurance, too.Please come meet Roxy at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. This girl has the heart, energy, and playful spirit of a much younger Boxer. She bounces, prances, dances, and barrels through life with a zest that is impossible not to smile at. She is the kind of dog whose happiness is contagious.Hope came to Critter Cavalry Rescue during a heartbreaking time. Her beloved owner became critically ill and was ultimately unable to care for her, and when Hope came into rescue, she weighed only 35 pounds and was painfully underweight. Her owner’s greatest wish was that she would be given the best life possible, and that is exactly the promise we made to him.Today, Hope is a healthy 46 pounds and absolutely thriving in her foster home. She is currently living with several other Boxers and has fit right in as though she has always been part of the crew. She is wonderfully social and genuinely enjoys making friends. Celine, is a wonderful 2.5-year-old female Boxer who is looking for her forever home because her owner recently passed away and no one in the family wanted to give her a place with them.  This purebred Boxer girl is a strong and healthy girl that weighs 65 lbs. and is spayed and up to date on all of her vaccines.  You can see it in her face, that she is a friendly, happy girl with a wonderful attitude and sparkly personality.
