CURLY Breed: hound-beagle mix Age: 1 year Weight: 55 pounds Adoption Fee: $275 Vetting Status: neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed and maintained on heartworm preventatives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Curly is a super social, kissy, big guy. He adores all his doggie friends, large & small. Although he has not been tested with children, we suspect that he would absolutely love to have kids to play with! Curly originally came into rescue labeled a beagle/beagle mix & has grown into his puppy legs, proving to be more of a hound mix in size. He is crate trained, housetrained & OK on a leash.... though he would much prefer to run crazy in your fenced backyard. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CURLY is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. Introducing Gambit - the name's not just a coincidence; it's a testament to my ability to shape my destiny. Just like my Marvel/X-Men namesake, I've overcome my past and now look forward to a brilliantly bright future. My journey started in a rather somber place - a lonely field next to a gas station. Thankfully, kind souls would drop by, leaving me food and their hopes for a better life. One day, a persistent and resourceful lady decided to play her "pawn" and orchestrated my escape from that grim existence. Since then, I've been living with her and her doggy (and human) family. But now, I'm eagerly searching for my own forever family. Let's talk quirks. I'm a cheerful guy, but I've got some personal space boundaries. I'm protective of my face, so a home with adults or older, dog-savvy kids is my ideal match. I'm also a bit of a goofball and adore the company of other dogs. Now, I might not instantly become your best buddy; I take time to trust and get comfortable in my surroundings. But trust me, the patience will be worth it. I'm brimming with love and loyalty, just waiting for the right family to share it with. Here's the good news - I'm house and crate trained, proving that, yes, young dogs can indeed learn new tricks. Oh, and there's more - I'm pretty chill around cats, though a gentle introduction is wise. And I've been curious and respectful around a human baby, so that's a plus. One thing to note, though, is that I've had some reservations around men. Despite two years together, I haven't quite warmed up to my human's fianc and have snapped at him a few times. So, it might be best if I find a home without men. During a short stay with Kathy, I was a little shy but kept to myself. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a dash of X-Men flair and you're ready to give me the chance I deserve, let's make it happen. I can't wait to meet you and start this exciting new chapter together! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
