Story
Meet Homer! This sweet little Toy Poodle is 4 years old and weighs only 6lbs. Homer was rescued from a puppy mill situation, and he is excited to see what the world has to offer! Everything is new to Homer, but he is cautiously exploring his new environment. He would love a patient, loving household willing to give him time to come out of his shell. Homer is doing great on his potty training, regularly going when let out to the yard, but he still has the occasional accident. He does well in his crate when left alone but will bark for a bit before settling down. Homer certainly prefers having someone else around and would likely do best with another confident dog in the home to show him the ropes. He absolutely loves other dogs! Toys and treats are all new to Homer, but he is excited to learn more. He has never been on a leash before, so he will need patience as he learns to do this. His favorite thing to do is curl up next to a buddy and take a snooze! Homer can't wait to put his past behind him and have the life of a real dog! Can you be the loving home that helps Homer blossom? Apply today! Homer is fostered in the Cincinnati area. His adoption fee is $450.00. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Harley, a 4.5-year-old, 15-pound miniature poodle with a heart as soft as his curls. Recently rescued from a puppy mill, this little gentleman is now soaking up all the comfort and care he missed out on—and he’s ready to bring that love into a forever home. Some of Harley’s hidden talents?     •    Giving the gentlest hand kisses     •    Being brushed (he loves it!)     •    Winning hearts of people, dogs, and cats with his quiet sweetness and calm demeanor • Testing every cushion in the house for maximum fluffiness When he’s not cuddling on the couch, he’s following his foster siblings around the house. Walks- we’re still working on that. He’s recently rescued and is still learning the ropes of home living however he’s very food motivated. Potty pads are currently his go-to, as he’s getting the hang of things, but we’re confident he’ll master house training with a little time and treats. His soulful eyes and tender heart are impossible to resist, and once he trusts you, he’ll be your most loyal snuggle buddy. Harley would thrive in loving home—especially one with another dog to show him the ropes. This sweet boy is ready to find the cozy forever home he’s always deserved. Harley is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Introducing Wilber, a lively 12-pound, 4.5-year-old miniature poodle bursting with personality. His golden eyes are bound to steal your heart. Having spent his early years in a puppy mill, Wilber is eager to embrace a typical canine life. While he can tolerate a crate, his ultimate wish is to be part of a loving family, which currently includes a large dog and an energetic mini Goldendoodle. Wilber loves to explore indoors and will quickly make his way to the kitchen if there's any commotion. Wilber is outgoing and enjoys following his foster mom, engaging with his foster dad, and playing with the other dogs in the home. He’s currently learning to go potty outside, although he could use a bit more practice in that area. He walks well with a harness and primarily seeks closeness to his pack. If you're in search of a loyal companion who wants to be in your lap every time you sit down, Wilber is the ideal dog for you. He is incredibly sweet and is even starting to learn how to play with toys! Wilber is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. His adoption fee is $450.00. Story
Chewy is a most perfect doggie. He was found on the streets of San Antonio by a good Samaritan, with a badly damaged eye :( Since being in foster he has been such a great companion!! He is smart and sweet and cuddly AND a wonderful house guest!! Here is an excerpt of the gushing review that his foster mom sent: " I just love this boy!! I can leave him at home and he doesn’t bother anything. In addition to that, he loves to be outside and goes in and out of the doggie door when I’m at home with him. he knows the following commands: sit, stay, drop it, wait, and no. He is completely housebroken or potty trained or whatever the appropriate word it is. We’re working on leash training. He is navigating well with only one eye. AND he is not a barker!!" So basically this sweet boy had a family before and is ready for his FUREVER home and family!! He is young and smart and wants to be someone's forever doggy!! If you are lucky enough to adopt him!! Local adoption fee is $300 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Heather – the 10-pound lovebug in poodle form! At 7 years old, Heather is a gentle, curious mini poodle with a heart full of love. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but her natural curiosity always shines through. Once she feels safe, Heather blossoms into a wiggly, affectionate companion, greeting you with tail wags, kisses, and her signature “rooooo, rooooo” – which earned her the nickname Renny Roo. Heather is happiest when she’s close to her person. She adores being held, and will gladly curl up in your lap, by your side on the couch, or even on the floor—anywhere you are. She finds comfort in the gentle touch of a hand resting on her, a simple gesture that makes her feel safe and loved. She’s still working on her potty training and making steady progress. With regular outdoor breaks, she’s learning the routine. Leashes aren’t her favorite, so for now, she prefers being carried outside—which is no trouble since she’s light as a feather. Heather is still learning what toys are all about, but she recently discovered the joy of tossing around a sock and proudly parading it through the house. A soft, slinky plush toy might be right up her alley! She thrives on affection and will do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. Heather does experience some separation anxiety and can be quite vocal about her feelings, so apartment living may not be ideal. When alone, she settles well in a spacious crate with her bed, food, water, and room to stretch out. Over time, we’ve come to learn that Heather would truly flourish in a home with another confident dog. A calm canine companion can help her feel more secure and encourage her playful, loving nature to shine even brighter. Heather is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00. Story
Hi everyone, I’m Oscar. I’m almost three years old. I’m a very sweet boy, I love to try to get the old men in my foster home to play with me, but they’re not very interested. I’d love to have a playmate and my foster mom says I must have a fenced in yard so I can run and work off some of my energy. I love to cuddle with my foster mom and give kisses to all. I really like people and am a good boy – most of the time. I get really scared at the vet and groomer; I don’t try to bite or anything, but my doctor says I flail (whatever that means), so I have to take some drugs to calm me down a bit, and I get groomed at the vet. I’d love to find my forever home soon! From mom:  Oscar is quite the character. He’s house and crate trained, neutered, chipped and is current on his vaccines and heartworm meds. Oscar must have a fenced yard, he walks and potties fine on a leash, but he really needs to let off some energy (or he will let it off in the house!). Oscar came from a bad situation, and gets scared at the vet and groomer. I have groomed him a couple times (clean ups), but for a full groom, he is sedated at the vet. I have tried the mobile groomer (he does get carsick), but the clippers and scissors freak him out, and the groomers (we’ve tried a couple), are worried he’ll injure himself trying to get away. He has been boarded several times and does very well. He loves people and is very friendly and social with other dogs (he drives the old men here crazy). No idea with cats (he might give chase) but I don’t think he’d know what to do if he caught one. He loves to look at the deer that come in the yard. I think he’d be great with older kids (10+), I’d be worried he might knock smaller kids over though. He’s very athletic and can jump and climb, so any fence needs to be an appropriate height. He loves his food and especially his cookies. He doesn’t really have any interest in toys, I’m not sure he understands what they are. I think Oscar would do best with a doggie buddy who can show him the ropes. He’s good inside (unless energy!) and doesn’t chew or get into things he shouldn’t. Oscar’s adoption fee is only $350. He is fostered in Michigan, so is enjoying the snow. Oscar needs someone to work with him and have patience while he’s settling in and getting used to a new home. I also think training would be helpful (he loves to be busy, so redirecting him would be a great thing). Oscar just needs love and the ability to sleep on the couch. If you think you’d be a great fit please fill out the application to start the process. Gets along with other dogs? Yes Gets along with cats? Unknown Gets along with other pets?
