Story
ADOPTION PENDING MEDICATION:** Champion was literally shutting down and near death at 23 Ibs. He is now a healthy 62 Ibs and has fully recovered following direct hands on daily care and love. Champion is a sweet and sensitive soul and needs a person that is equally as such. He will offer his paw, sit and lay down for treats. He's a good boy that gets along with all other resident canines and seems to be quite intuitive to the needs of others. As our senior dog was rapidly declining, Champ sat by him as if watching over him and keeping him company. He then went and got his most prized possession a toy and brought that over to lay in front of him. He LOVES his toys, especially his nylar bone and rope toys. He loves to cuddle up on the couch and is just a little tank. He is fully recovered from his past ordeal, but requires a grain free diet. We are seeking a person, couple or family that will integrate him into their own as an indoor family companion. Although he can be left alone without issue, we are seeking someone who can spend time with him. He loves walks, car rides, did we mention cuddling on the couch....and loves it when you talk to him and tell him about your day. He listens as if he really cares and understands. Lifetime commitment only, lifetime of love guaranteed in return.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 8, 2026, 6:50 pm

Story
Meet Keller Some dogs walk into your life with fireworks. Keller is more of a slow burn. Before you know it, he's quietly become your favorite part of the day. Keller came to us after being found as a stray in a Salt Lake City shelter. No one ever came to claim him, which is hard to believe once you meet him. He's about five years old and is everything people love about the Shar Pei breed. He's loyal, thoughtful, and forms a bond with his person that's hard to describe until you've experienced it. He doesn't need to be in your lap every minute—he just wants to know you're his person. Keller would be happiest in a home that's a little more peaceful than chaotic. He doesn't have separation anxiety and is perfectly content hanging out at home while you're at work. He actually loves his crate because it's his own little retreat when he wants some quiet time. He's great with other dogs, but he'd appreciate roommates who have also outgrown their "frat boy" phase. Puppies who think wrestling is a full-time job? Pass. Tiny dogs that narrate every squirrel, leaf, and Amazon delivery? Also pass. His foster family lovingly calls him The Sheriff because he likes to supervise everyone else's behavior. If another dog starts playing a little too rough, Keller is there to restore order. He takes neighborhood watch very seriously. Keller has had entropion surgery along with a brow lift, and the difference has been incredible. His vision is much better, although it's still not perfect. Because of that, loud noises or things that happen unexpectedly can startle him, so a calmer home is where he'll feel most comfortable. The best part about Keller isn't any one thing—it's how easy he is to live with. He's house-trained, crate-trained, walks beautifully on a leash, rides quietly in the car, and has wonderful manners around the house. He's the kind of dog that settles into your life instead of turning it upside down. Keller isn't looking for excitement. He's looking for his person. Someone who understands that the best dogs aren't always the loudest ones—they're the ones quietly waiting beside you, happy just to belong. Keller is neutered, ready for his forever home, and currently fostering in Phoenix, Arizona.      August 11, 2026, 2:37 pm

Story
How does someone leave behind a dog like Zeus? We may ne ver understand. When his family moved away, Zeus and his little pug brother were simply left behind. No goodbye. No explanation. Just two loyal dogs wondering why the people they loved never came back. The beautiful thing about dogs, though, is that they don’t let heartbreak define them. At just 1–2 years old, Zeus still greets every person with a wagging tail and a heart full of love. Everyone who meets him says the same thing: “He’s the nicest boy.” And it’s true! Zeus adores other dogs, melts for a good butt scratch, rides perfectly in the car. He is amazing on a leash. He is completely non reactive to other barking dogs. He isn’t bitter. He isn’t angry. He’s simply waiting for someone to love him the way he’s always deserved. He’s been neutered and has a full veterinary exam and bloodwork scheduled this week. He will be having entropion surgery 8/4/2026. We’re still learning how he feels about cats, but we’ll keep everyone updated. Zeus has already experienced what it feels like to be left behind. Let’s make sure the next family he trusts is the one that keeps him forever. Zeus is fostering Phoenix AZ    August 11, 2026, 2:37 pm

Story
Meet Dumpling...because there has never been a more appropriately named dog. "She's built like a dumpling, named like a dumpling, and has the squishiest face this side of the Mississippi" She may not be 100% Shar-Pei, but her face absolutely understood the assignment. One look at those wrinkles, that smooshy little mouth, and her stunning one blue eye and one brown eye, and we knew there was no way we were leaving her behind at the shelter. Dumpling is built for snuggles and powered by kindness. She's the kind of dog who quietly wins everyone over without even trying. Gentle, affectionate, and impossibly sweet, she has a way of making you feel like you've been her favorite person forever. She loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine friend to show her the ropes. She's already house-trained and crate-trained, making her an easy addition to almost any family. And if treats are involved? She's all in. This girl is food motivated, eager to learn, and always happy to earn a snack. Dumpling has already been spayed, had entropion surgery, and received a full veterinary workup. Our vet is estimating her age more like 2-3 instead of the 5 the shelter estimated. Her foster mom swears she is closer to 1-2. She is all sweet goofy puppy! She also managed to become the unofficial Employee of the Month at the veterinary clinic. The staff couldn't stop gushing about how sweet she is, and we're pretty sure she caused significant delays as everyone that walked past her needed to stop and collect some squishy kisses. If you're looking for a dog who's equal parts adorable, affectionate, and unforgettable, Dumpling checks every box. Between her squishy Shar-Pei expressions, her mismatched eyes, and her heart of gold, she's the kind of dog people remember long after they've met her. Dumpling is currently being fostered in Phoenix, Arizona, and she's ready to find the family that will never get tired of kissing that perfectly smooshy face.  August 11, 2026, 2:37 pm

Story
Henrietta aka Henny is about as lucky and unlucky as you can get. Unlucky in terms as she was probably hit by a car and doesn't look like her family was looking for her or her sister Maggie Lu.  Lucky as she as found by the most amazing family who got her safetly off the streets and got her into Pei People's hands to get her the car she needed. Henny was found with a broken bone in her right hind leg..for you medical people it was her tibia and fibula. It was repaired by a local orthopedic surgeon using a plate, screws and wire. Everyone who has looked at the post op films is thrilled with the repair. Henny is doing amazing. She was weight bearing on the leg by day 2 post op.  Henrietta is finally healed and cleared by her orthopedic surgeon for full activities without any restrictions! She has been spayed and had her entropion surgery as well. This girl is a little spit fire. She loves being outside and is a huge fan of her dog door. Lizards don't stand a chance with this girl on patrol in the back yard. She is great with other dogs and loves to play. She is not a huge fan of the crate but is totally trustworthy in the house when left alone She is fostering in Tucson AZ    August 11, 2026, 2:37 pm

Story
If sunshine had a best friend, it would have to be Bash! This lovable Shar Pei mix is a bright ray of happiness with a playful personality, a sweet heart, and a talent for making every day feel a little warmer. Bash loves spending time with his people, whether he’s joining in on family adventures, soaking up affection, or enjoying one of his favorite pastimes—lounging in a sunny spot and relaxing like the professional sunbather he is. Bash is a wonderful family companion and absolutely shines around kids. His affectionate, easygoing nature makes him the kind of dog who loves being included and sharing life’s little moments with his favorite humans. He’s also a smart cookie who loves showing off his skills and already knows commands like “sit,” “lay down,” “shake,” and “place”—especially when there’s a tasty reward involved! When it comes to treats, Bash knows what he likes and is happy to share his favorites, including berries, yogurt, peanut butter, ice chips, tomatoes, whipped cream, and salmon-based goodies. With his charming personality, silly moments, and loving heart, Bash is ready to bring a little extra sunshine into the home of a family lucky enough to call him theirs.
