Sharpie is the absolute best mom! After being left alone in an apartment, she bravely gave birth to her puppies during the loud fireworks of the Fourth of July, keeping every single one of them alive and well until they were rescued a few days later. Courageous and resilient, Sharpie came to us with double cherry eye, severe skin issues, and heavy Shar Pei wrinkles covering her vision—yet despite it all, her spirit never broke! She happily greets anyone who offers a gentle voice and an open hand. All she wants is to receive affection and be someone’s furever. She is an absolute love bug Now, after a successful eye surgery and a wrinkle lift, Sharpie has blossomed into a whole new dog! She can see the world freely, her big, radiant smile shows just how grateful she is for her fresh start, and with good nutrition as the key, her coat is coming in softer and shinier every day. At 2 years old, this sweet girl gets along wonderfully with humans big and small, as well as dogs of all sizes—though we aren't sure how she feels about cats, so slow and proper introductions would be best. Sharpie does great in a kennel, though she is such a good girl that she hasn't even needed one! She will just need a patient refresher on her leash manners and a little gentle guidance as she gets the hang of a new potty routine in her furever home. Sweet happy girl. Gets along with big dogs and dogs her size. Also gets along with small dogs, she can just be too much for some cause she loves to play but she uses her body to play and could be too much for a scared small dog. She has seen a cat but way too interested to attempt an intro. Pulls on leash but otherwise will listen to correction. Does fine on walks if she sees other dogs but if they react or bark towards her, she will imitate their actions. Working on her leash reactivity in that regard. Takes treats nicely. Loves to snuggle and be with her person. Sleeps all night through. Great in the car. Seems to be prey driven as she has caught lizards and small birds in the yard.

Here’s what one volunteer said about meeting him for the first time:“Zodd is a bit of a naked mole rat who somewhat resembles splinter from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (in a very cute way). He has very short Shar Pei hair that gives him a bit of a bald look. He’s super sweet and friendly- it was my first time meeting him and he was happy to meet me at his kennel door and easy to leash and walk to a play yard. He enjoyed exploring and getting pets- especially scratches on his wrinkly neck. He`s a very gentle, calm and easygoing dog. He knows sit and was very very gentle when taking treats- though he wasn’t all that interested in my crunchy treats and would probably like something tastier. Zodd was also super friendly when another volunteer who he was meeting for the first time entered the yard. What a perfect boy!!!”His foster states :`Zodd resides in a calm home with no dogs, cats or children. He is friendly, sensitive, quiet and reserved. He is also house trained and crate trained.Zodd is an enthusiastic walker who likes to explore the neighborhood, including nearby trails and washes. At times, he may become excited when encountering dogs, horses or wildlife.Zodd has a good appetite and enjoys chew toys with treats. He loves soft blankets and pillows while sleeping on the sofa or bed.He is currently on medication for valley fever and hypothyroidism.`Zodd was found as a stray and would love to move on to the next chapter of his life- one as a beloved family member. Hazel needs a foster home! She was surrendered with her littermate do to their allergies. She has severe allergies that has never been treated agressively and therefore she would love a foster home to help heal and recover in. She will use puppy pads in the home, gets along well with other dogs, crate trained, walks well on leash and a couch potato! She is on a special diet, monthly shots and a couple pills a day to get in a more comfortable place. She would need 1-2 weekly baths as well! Sharpei`s are great dogs and very loyal and loving! Cherry loves nothing more than being right by your side, happily getting involved in whatever you're up to! Throw a ball or squeak a toy, and she is instantly ready to play, her big, radiant smile showing off pure joy. Especially if water is involved! At 5 years old, this sweet English Bulldog mix is the ultimate companion—and when it’s time to wind down for the night, she loves curling up right next to her person to dream the night away. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes, though her exuberant energy can be a bit much for some, so slow and proper introductions are recommended—and we aren't sure how she feels about cats. Cherry is kennel trained and will politely let you know when she’s ready to come out! She walks nicely on a leash (though as a Bulldog mix, she is definitely not a fan of being out in the heat!) and will just need a little patient guidance as she learns her new potty routine. Cosmo is about 4-6 years old. I have owned and raised him since he was a puppy. Since getting him he has not calmed down in the slightest, if anything he's just crazier now that he's bigger. He has seemingly endless energy, and will keep playing until his saliva foams out of the corners of his jowls (no, not rabies). He was raised alongside two other dogs, and cat, he would play with all of them, (yes with the cat too), and was not aggressive. He is non-aggressive in general, even when I purposely mess with him, touch his paws, pet him while he eats, wake him up, roll him over, he never bites, unless during roughhousing, and only playfully, never drawing blood. I would not recommend for really little kids, just because he has been known to run into people or scratch by mistake, (light scratches). When on a leash he tugs a lot, so it could get annoying or tiring. While not being aggressive to other dogs, he will absolutely bark, and attempt to get to them, (just to sniff and play).

Stella is a sweet 5-year-old female Boxer mix. I got her through an ad when she was living with someone experiencing homelessness, and I wanted to give her a safe, loving home. She loves to play, be around her people, and is happiest when she has companionship. She’s okay with dogs and cats but prefers having her own space. She can be territorial around food, although she’s comfortable with people nearby while eating. She also gets anxious with loud noises—especially fireworks! Her ideal home would have a large, secure yard where she can run and play, along with someone who has the time and patience to give her the attention she deserves. This is a very difficult decision. Stella was my first dog and I love her dearly, but unfortunately I can’t give her the time and attention she needs. She deserves to be someone’s #1 priority and a loving part of the family.
