Smokey is a 4 year 10 month old Doberman Pincher/Shar Pei mix weighing 43 pounds. Smokey was originally adopted from our shelter as a puppy in 2022 and recently found himself back with us due to no fault of his own. He's a hot mess and a stud muffin! Reported HIGH anxiety from foster, treating with Trazadone. Recently treated for Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (his stomach flipped) and needs a slow feeder for his meals. Allergies-Special diet required, currently treating skin with diet, baths, and fish oil supplements. The good stuff-he's gentle, sweet and very affectionate. A cuddle bug, will be your shadow. Playful with people and toys, his favorites are tug & wrestling. He likes to sleep on the furniture and in bed with you. Previous home had a fenced in yard. He's treat motivated. Knows commands sit, easy & down. Housebroken. Crate trained (safe place) and good on a leash. He's selective with other dogs, they must be submissive and smaller than him.His adoption fee is $150, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $21.00 (includes $1.00 service charge).Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday through Friday 1pm-4:30pm, and Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same-day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! George is an 8-year-old Shar Pei mix with a heart as big as his personality. Don’t let his age fool you—George still has plenty of energy and absolutely loves going for walks and being part of the action. Most of all, George loves his people. He is a true companion who will never leave your side. Wherever you are, George wants to be there too. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, moving around the house, or settling in for the evening, he’ll happily follow along. He’s also an expert snuggler and has a special talent for finding the most comfortable spot in the house. Give him a cozy place to lie down, and he’ll be perfectly content. Of course, his favorite place is usually wherever his people are. Making the decision to surrender George is incredibly difficult. He is a very good dog and has done nothing wrong. Our lives and schedules have simply become busier, and we have realized that George needs more attention, companionship, and time than we are currently able to give him.
