Story
Smokey is a 4 year 6 month old Doberman Pincher/Shar Pei mix weighing 43 pounds. Smokey was originally adopted from our shelter as a puppy in 2022 and recently found himself back with us due to no fault of his own. He's such a stud muffin, gentle and very sweet. Very affectionate, cuddle bug, will be your shadow. HIGH separation anxiety, reported from foster, currently treating with trazadone. His ideal home will allow him to be with someone around the clock with an established routine. Playful with people and toys, his favorites are tug & wrestling. He likes to sleep on the furniture and in bed with you. Previous home had a fenced in yard. He's treat motivated. Knows commands sit, easy & down. Housebroken. Crate trained (safe place) and good on a leash. He's selective with other dogs, they must be submissive and smaller than him. Allergies-Special diet required, currently treating skin with diet, baths, and fish oil.His adoption fee is $200, this includes his neuter, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention and micro chipped. His dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet him, we show dogs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1-4:30pm and the 2nd and 4th Saturday 1-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same day adoptions.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!

Story
Loui came to us as a stray, he was found running loose out in the country. He was found by a family who had children with them and he did well with the children. He does well around other dogs. He does have a bit of trust issues with hands over the head. He loves to go on walks and to give hugs and kisses, he is normally pretty clean in his kennel.

Story
Poor Jane came to us in need of an emergency surgery. She had a pyometra, which for those who don’t know, is an infection of the uterus that can happen in females who are not spayed. It is fatal if an emergency spay is not performed to remove the infection. It took her some time, but sweet Jane has finally made her recovery and is ready for her next adventure. She has discovered a passion for chasing balls around in the play yard……. and biting trees for some reason. She was attacked by 2 other dogs in the past, so she has a lot of reservations around other dogs and is said to be reactive with them. Since she has been here, we have not had any issues, but a home without other dogs may be ideal for her. However, it may not be out of the question if there are multiple meet and greets and slow introductions. We are not sure how she does with cats or children. She loves to give kisses though! Jane has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)

Possible Breeds: We’re guessing they may have some shar pei (based on mama’s looks) and lab, but we think they are probably a mix of several breeds. We don’t know who their dad was. Mutts are the best! Their mom weighs 40 lbs and she's an absolute sweetheart. The puppies definitely get their sweet nature from her! Personality: Named after one of TV’s most lovable leading ladies, this little girl is sweet, smart, and has a personality that’s much bigger than she is. Topanga is always up for an adventure, whether that’s exploring the backyard, playing with her toys, or checking out whatever you’re doing. Topanga also really enjoys other dogs. She hops all over the place when playing with other dogs, it's really adorable! When Topanga's done being busy, she’s happy to curl up for some cuddles. She’s got the charm, confidence, and good looks covered—now she just needs a forever family to call her own. Adoption fee is $400. If you choose to return to our vet for the spay/neuter, the adoption fee will include the spay/neuter and the microchip. Unlike the original David Rose, this David isn’t concerned with designer sweaters or artisanal soaps—he simply wants a cozy place by your side, plenty of affection, and someone to love with his whole heart. When new noises or experiences make him a tad nervous, he takes it all in and quickly figures out that most things in his world are a good time. Luke would love a confident, playful fur sibling to show him the ropes. However, he would do great in pretty much any loving home! After adventures in the yard, chewing sticks, and playing with his toys, he loves to cuddle up and nap with his human. He’s a beautiful pup that will bring much happiness to his future family.
