To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!  Dogs posted are currently up for adoption unless otherwise noted.  Our goal is to match dogs with a suitable home/family so that at any time, dogs shown here may already have a potential match.  We post dogs as quickly as possible however there may be some not yet pictured. We allow our dogs time to settle in with their foster families so that we can evaluate their health and personality.   Holly will require a fully physical fenced yard. Holly will be three years old in April. She is a sweet little gal with a past that will require an adopter to have time and patience. Holly lived outdoors all of her life until coming into rescue in late December. She has adapted well to living indoors, never had any accidents in the house and is fully house-trained. Holly knows basic commands and is highly motivated by tasty treats. She gets along with her foster fur siblings, but this has taken a great deal of work by the humans to integrate her with other dogs slowly. Holly is fine indoors and in the backyard but has a long way to go as she learns to trust things outside the home's front door. Holly panics if she sees or hears other dogs outside the home. Her panic is likely due to forced breeding outdoors. No more babies for Holly girl; she is now spayed. Her past lacked proper socialization, but she has come a long way and is learning to be confident. Holly likes people; however, men with beards send her into a state of panic. She loves women and her foster pa(w). Holly seeks human attention and loves to crawl into a lap for a snooze. At night, Holly sleeps in a crate with the door open. During the day, she roams around the house or snoozes in a large pen, her indoor condo. She rides well in the car and loves going to the Vet. Holly has a tail that now wags and a sweet Sheltie smile on her face. She would do best in a home with no other dogs or cats and an above-ground fence so she can do her favorite thing, explore in the backyard. Holly's foster family adores her, she is sweet and silly. Her foster family has a village helping to improve her confidence daily.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.May 16, 2023, 4:06 pm

We allow our dogs time to settle in with their foster families so that we can evaluate their health and personality. Jaxon is 4 yrs old and on medical hold.  ook at this handsome sheltie! So far we mostly know that Jaxon really likes lounging on the couch and eating whipped cream. In fact, he pays close attention when someone is going to the fridge just because he knows that’s where the whipped cream is kept.  Jaxon gets along great with the foster mom’s kitten, even to the point of them sharing the same food dish.  Cute Jaxon doesn’t see the need to stand to eat, preferring to lie down to chow down.   So far Jaxon isn’t motivated to learn commands, even if offered his beloved whipped cream.  If he knows any commands, he’s keeping it a secret for now.  Jaxon is improving with his house training.  He walks on the leash but wants to be a bit of a “wild pony” at times.  When Jaxon runs zoomies, he is that wild pony! Like most shelties, he will bark at the neighbor’s dog along with the other shelties in the foster home.  Jaxon is heartworm positive and will be receiving treatment.   Jaxon, this big, beautiful mahogany coated sheltie, is trusting, calm and attentive.  He is still adjusting to his foster home and will show more of who he is as he becomes more comfortable.  It is highly recommended, by Jaxon,  that his forever home keep some whipped cream on hand for those times when he has been a good boy.  Or has been cute.  Or has just been his very special self. **Note: Jaxon will need a physically fenced yard. Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Winston is 9 mths old. Winston is an independent puppy who loves to play with his sibling Aili. He spends time with his toys too, and some of his favorites include Kongs, things that squeak and puzzle toys. Being a smart boy, he already understands “sit” and “kennel,” and treats are great motivators. Loving both people and other dogs, he is ready for any activity you have in mind. When playing with his sister, they wrestle, run and chase, which is great entertainment for the people of the household. He barks when he meets strangers, but settles down in a short period of time. And being sociable, Winston enjoys attention from anyone who engages with him. Although there are no cats in his foster home, we were told he did well with both cats and children. Winston is still a youngster, but he is doing great at housetraining as long as there are frequent trips outside. The adoption fee for Winston is $500.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.May 16, 2023, 4:06 pm

To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Aili is 9 mths old Aili (pronounced Eye-lee) is a sweet, affectionate 7-month-old puppy. She loves to play, loves treats and loves to cuddle, what a girl!!!  She plays with Kongs, things that squeak, and cleverly problem solves to figure out how puzzle toys work to dispense a treat. She is still with a littermate and loves to energetically run, chase and wrestle with him – providing fun puppyhood entertainment for all to watch. Aili loves treats and seems eager to learn.  Although there are no children in the foster home, people who knew her in her previous home said she was good with both children and cats. She is a typical sheltie and barks at strangers or novel situations but settles down and wants attention. At seven months, we can safely say she is almost house trained. She knows what to do and does very well as long as she is let out frequently.   The adoption fee for Aili is $500.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.May 16, 2023, 4:06 pm
