Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! his 2 year old tri-colored Collie/Great Pyrenees mix is learning to live inside a warm home. He is housebroken, and his foster family has taught him his name and the commands “come,” “stay,” “sit” and “paw.” Living inside a home is new to him after living outside for most of his life. Due to this Lance tested positive for heartworm when he arrived at the rescue. He will need a little extra care as he undergos heartworm treatment (which will be covered in full by AHDRO). He'll need a family committed to following the vet's advice and providing the care and medication he will require till he recovers. His fosters describe him as adorably sweet and working on properly greeting guests and leash walking. Using treats as a motivation, Lance is making daily progress. Inside his foster home, Lance is playful, alert, and enjoys looking out the window. A physical fenced yard is required for Lance which he loves exploring and chasing squirrels. His inquisitive personality makes him very attentive to his surroundings and eager to learn new things. He will make a great addition to a loving home. To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Lulu is 3 yrs old. Physical fenced yard required:   Note: A physical fence is required for Lulu. Are you waiting for a Lulu in your life? Lulu is waiting for you! Hey there, potential forever family! I'm Lulu, a delightful Great Pyrenees & Collie mix (DNA verified) with a heart as warm as my fur. Let me share more about myself; when I arrived at AHDRO, I tested positive for heartworms. I have completed all my treatments and am now ready for my forever home. While I appreciate the company of humans, I would prefer to be the only four-legged friend in the house. While I'm still on the road to recovery, I'll enjoy low-key activities like short walks and leisurely strolls around the yard. I'm not looking for a marathon buddy right now, just caring companions to share quiet moments and build a lifelong bond. I'll follow you from room to room, ensuring you're never lonely. Soon I will be an active girl and would love walks, frisbee in the yard/park, or maybe hiking with you. My foster mom can vouch for my impeccable manners and the joy I bring to every moment.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.July 12, 2024, 4:42 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Kelly is a beautiful, playful 8 year old collie. She is definitely a “people” girl who loves affection and hugs. In her previous home she was the only dog and she would prefer to be in an only dog household. She has learned to get along with her submissive collie foster sibling but it did require training and supervision. She has, however, done well with the household cats. Kelly is attentive to all that is going on around her and happily watches from her bed. If you want a dog that prefers dog beds to people furniture, this is your girl. She is very smart and understands Sit, Stay and Shake. She prefers to play with toys with someone rather than playing by herself. If you press a squeaky toy she will take a turn making it squeak right back at you.   Kelly has a few quirks like we all do. She was born with a slight neurological issue which makes her spin. When she is excited she spins. But she can stop in a couple of minutes and then is fine and will follows directions well. She gets overly excited by cars driving by (barks and spins) so a quiet neighborhood or windows that she cannot see out of will keep her secure, mpre calm and happy. If she does see cars, she can be distracted by giving her some attention. Kelly thrives on routine, consistency and repetition and with them can quickly learn the rules and wishes of the humans in her world. She needs a patient loving person that will work with her in a kind way. She’s very affectionate and sweet and she will be your loyal frien The adoption fee for Kelly is $300.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.July 12, 2024, 4:42 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Rea is 3 yrs old Rae is the type of pretty sable merle collie lass who gets people to stop and ask what kind of dog she is. She loves spending time with people and with her foster siblings. When the foster mom’s cat walked past her, she didn’t react at all. Rae is starting from scratch with learning  typical commands but in the short time she has been with her foster, Rae has already learned to stop her outdoor fun and “come”.  She doesn’t need to be crated at night.  When she’s been left with free range in the house with her two foster dog siblings, Rae has been perfect.   Rae has a pile of toys to play with, but she just sits and looks at you as if to say, “What am I supposed to do with these?” Sadly, she hasn’t known toys before. When she met young children several times, Rae handled it well. Rae is progress in learning commands and all the joys being in a loving home can bring. Her foster mom feels she will do best not being the only dog. Her foster mom also said that she can’t believe this is the same dog that came recently. That is great news because it means that Rae finally knows happiness! Rae is sweet, sensitive, beautiful and looking for her special forever home. The adoption fee for Rae is $350.00. Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Finnegan is an energetic and curious young boy, nearly 2 years old, who would thrive in an active home. While he has outgrown the boundless energy of puppyhood, he still remains eager to run and play. A fenced yard would be essential for him to fully exercise, and having another playmate his size would be ideal. Finnegan has received extensive training and has mastered commands like Sit, Down, Wait, Place, Heel, and Here. However, maintaining consistency, especially in distracting environments, is an area where he could use continued work. His high intelligence allows him to quickly pick up new tricks and commands. Additionally, Finnegan is crate trained and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate. In his previous home, Finnegan lived with two cats and a small dog. While he has shown interest in playing with them, he has not exhibited any aggression towards the cats. A home with cats accustomed to large dogs would be just fine for this lovely boy. Finnegan would also thrive in a household with teenagers. Finnegan is a loving companion who is ready to share his playful spirit with the right family. He is looking for a home that can appreciate his energy and provide him with the love and attention he deserves. Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Dusty is 17 mths old Dusty is a handsome young adult collie. He is comfortable with other dogs and engages with them, and Dusty is quickly learning that people can be just as fun to be around as dogs. Inside he is mellow and follows his foster or watches from a distance, loving to be included in anything that is going on around the house. He is alert, wants to please and is very treat motivated, so teaching him routines and commands should be fairly simple. He has already learned to “come” and will “stay” when asked. This smart boy was also house trained after the first day. Dusty has learned to go up and down the stairs to go to bed. He is crated when he is alone for a significant period of time but is trustworthy in the bedroom at night. He has a normal young dog’s amount of energy and jumps over a short flower garden perimeter with such joy that his foster wonders if he might love agility training. He needs a secure fenced-in yard since he is a bit shy of strangers and might take off. He does well with women but has consistently been fearful of the men he has come in contact with. Please consider this happy, mellow-in-the-house but fun-loving outside adolescent for your new best friend. NOTE: Dusty needs a physically fenced in yard. The adoption fee for Dusty is $500.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.July 12, 2024, 4:42 pm
