Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! How do you spell fun? We spell it P-O-P-P-Y! This sweetheart is just full of joy and a playful spirit. At 6 months old, she still has much to learn, but she’s eager and curious. Her foster mom said that upon arrival, she was reticent—until she had a bath, a meal and quickly realized, being a fast learner, that life is great! When Poppy goes outside, she loves to play and explore, but once inside, she quickly settles down to snuggle next to her favorite person. She’s always alert indoors—ready to follow her fosters wherever they go, not wanting to miss a chance to join in or simply be near them. Poppy can be a bit reluctant with new experiences, like visiting the vet, being leashed, or meeting someone for the first time. However, she quickly overcomes that hesitation and returns to her happy, playful self. Love seems to follow Poppy, whether it’s with other dogs or people, she is a bundle of love. Poppy has just begun living a great life and is eagerly waiting for her forever person to take her the rest of the way home Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.April 28, 2025, 9:10 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!  At 9 yrs old, Fiona Grace has been through a sad event recently, but she’s handling it with the grace that her name suggests. Everyone who meets Fiona Grace uses the adjectives “sweet” and “gentle.” Whether meeting people or dogs she doesn’t know, she is polite, well-mannered and appropriate in her behavior. When she and the resident cat cross paths, they just stare, so it is assumed she will get along fine with cats.    Fiona Grace doesn’t like to be left alone; she wants to be with her person or her foster sibling dogs. In the house, she quietly observes from her spot. She is clever and likes to explore when she’s outside. Fiona Grace is patiently waiting for her forever home and, in the meantime, is bringing a steadfast joy to all she meets.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.June 5, 2025, 7:58 am

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application! Baron is a handsome, large collie with beautiful markings and an easy-going nature. He’s eager to please and already understands and follows commands like “no” and “come.” Baron gets along well with other dogs, though since people are his favorite, he might be a little jealous at first if another pup is getting the spotlight. He’d also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home. He loves to cuddle and be close, often placing a paw on you as if to say, “Hey, I think it’s time, and I’m sure I’m due, for some extra attention!” He enjoys toys, is playful and affectionate, and very biddable—always looking to please. Baron is friendly when guests come to the door. While he hasn’t had any cat encounters in his foster home, he has lived with cats in his past. He does well on a leash and happily leaps into the car when time to go for a ride or a trip to the vet. He hasn’t been around children yet and hasn’t needed to be crated. Baron has a true collie soul and is ready to be a stalwart friend to his forever family. Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!Timber is 5 yrs old Timberrrr!! Your heart will fall for this wonderful boy. He loves his foster mom’s grands, so we know he gets along well with children. He was at the vet right after arriving at his foster’s, and Timber had no problem with the other dogs (some of whom weren’t behaving) there. What a good lad! Timber loves playing with his foster dog sibling, but he also loves people. He doesn’t jump when meeting someone new, he simply wants to be seen and petted. Inside, he enjoys watching the world go by from the window—unless a delivery person shows up. Then he channels his inner collie!   When he first goes outside, he enjoys sniffing around and exploring, but soon he’s ready to play. Walks are also a fave activity. He has shown trepidation in small areas and crates, and he’s also still learning how to climb more than two steps at a time.   Since arriving, Timber’s been busy with vet and grooming appointments and has taken all the stimulating changes in stride.   Everyone who meets him loves him and has said they wish they were in a position to adopt him. If your heart is falling for Timber, you certainly shouldn’t wait to meet him.  Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.July 8, 2025, 1:28 pm

Story
To make the adoption process faster and easier, please visit www.almosthomeohio.org and complete our online application!FENCED YARD NEEDED Sadie is a pretty 6-year-old collie who has quickly adjusted to life at her foster home. Inside, she’s calm and mellow, though her favorite pastime is gazing out the windows, where she may get a bit excited by the sights she sees. She enjoys being close to her humans but is also happy to observe from a distance. She is learning commands and understands “no” but still needs a treat to reliably come when called. She will thrive in a home with a fenced-in yard. While she’s only been with her foster family for a short time, we’re already seeing great progress. Sadie had an unfortunate run-in with a car as a youngster, but other than being a bit slower to get up, you wouldn’t notice. She walks politely on a leash and enjoys walks, but she would not be a good candidate for long walks or runs.   She's a happy girl, wags her tail often and tells her humans she needs to go out by coming up to them and barking. She barks with interest as she approaches other dogs in the neighborhood, but Sadie has not had the opportunity to be off leash with them. The cat in the household quickly left the area when it saw Sadie, and Sadie did not chase it. She is a good “watch” collie, barking at the door when someone knocks but greets people well. She has not shown any fear of household or weather noises. She is a bit vocal, but her barking does have a purpose--to alert the foster to something she thinks is worth checking out. Sadie is sweet and well-behaved, does well in the car and is trustworthy in the house without a crate. She is just waiting for her forever home.Dont forget to visit our informative website, www.almosthomeohio.org, for valuable information and interesting features.June 20, 2025, 3:49 pm
