Story
Hi!  My name is Stella. I am a 2 yrs old spayed Shepherd mix and I am 45 pounds. I was rescued at the very last minute of scheduled euthanasia at the highkill shelter in Los Angeles! Thanks to AllJoy4paws Rescue for saving my life! I am currently learning to live my best life with my foster family in San Diego. This is what my foster mom says about me: PERSONALITY: Stella is such a beautiful girl packed with personality.  Stella is an affectionate, sweet, loving, and spunky girl.  She is curious, has lots of energy, enjoys playtime, and loves attention. In fact, she wants ALL of the attention.   She wants to please and is very eager to please.  Whether it is going on long walks, or adventures outside, she will be ready to join in on the fun.   Stella benefits from mental stimulation and is a quick, and eager learner.  She knows the command “sit” when presented with her food or a treat. She is potty trained, has all her shots, is on flea medication, and is spayed. She has been learning to relax in the crate.  If she needs to be left alone, she doesn’t seem to mind napping in her comfy crate.  She has been fine left alone at home without being inside of the crate, but the crate is beneficial for her to relax.  She sleeps in the crate at night. Stella will prance and nudge your hand and want to be your companion, she is non-aggressive and bonds fast. BEHAVIOR: Don’t judge this sweet girl.  She may seem overly excited but that is because she is only 22 months old.  She is strong and has a deep voice. Stella is living with her human mom and dad, human brother and sister, and her 18 pound Maltese mix doggie brother named Charlie.  Stella is learning to share with Charlie.  She plays appropriately with him.  She can get jealous at times.  Charlie is quite smaller than Stella, and Stella likes to use her front paws to play with him.  She opens her mouth over him, and although it looks scary, she is only trying to tease him. Stella engages and initiates play activity with Charlie and will sometimes even jump over him.   She is polite and will not beg for food. Stella likes to relax on her dog bed, in her open crate, or anywhere on the floor. She redirects well and will listen to the command “Off” as she is learning not to jump on people nor the inside furniture.  She listens well and is learning not to go up the steps, and is learning not to sleep in Charlie’s bed. Stella needs a forever home, to be an inside dog (with access to outside) with a loving family that is willing to walk and exercise with her. Although she loves dog companions, if she gets lots of human attention, she will also do well as the only doggie in the house. She is learning proper leash skills.  With additional leash training, Stella will make a great addition to a fur-ever family. Currently being cared in Southern California, Stella is ready to embark on a new journey, willing to be transported to everywhere within the US continental, where a wonderful, suitable family awaits to shower her with love and care, and give her the life she deserves.

Story
The Chance of a Lifetime! Hi pals! I’m Chance — a 2-year-old, 87-pound German Shepherd with a heart full of hope and a whole lot of love. My name isn’t just a name…it’s a promise. After everything I’ve been through, I’m here because someone gave me a second chance — and now I’m hoping you will too! I didn’t have the easiest start. I came from a place where I was chained up, starving, and left to chew whatever I could just to survive — rocks, concrete, whatever was near. By the time I was rescued, I was in ruff shape: malnourished, in pain, swollen with abscesses, and with most of my teeth broken down to the gum. TAP saw something in me. They gave me months of medical care, multiple surgeries, and more love than I’d ever known. Today? I’m healthy, pain-free, and finally able to enjoy life the way a dog should. Health-wise, I’ve got a couple of things to keep in mind. I have a heart condition that makes me sensitive to anesthesia — nothing scary day-to-day, but any future procedures need an experienced vet who’ll monitor my cardiovascular health. I don’t need meds, just awareness. I eat a soft diet but you’d never know it watching me chow down — especially with how excited I get (expect a little dance and song)! Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m the happiest boy. I love dogs — every shape, size, and energy level — and I’d do great with another playful pup! I haven’t been around many kids, but I’ve been super sweet with the ones I’ve met. I’m goofy, submissive, and always up for a game of tug-of-war or some zoomies at the park. When it’s time to relax you’ll find me curled up on the couch, tongue hanging out (I don’t have many teeth left to keep it in!). I’m potty trained and I’ll admit — I pull on the leash when I get excited, but I’m eager! I’ve been through a lot, and I do best in a home where someone is around most of the time or where I’ve got a doggy buddy to hang out with. I’m still healing emotionally and companionship means the world to me. Why take a chance on me? I’ve already shown what resilience looks like. I’ve been failed by humans before, but I still love them with everything I’ve got. I’m goofy, loyal, and full of gratitude for every belly rub and cozy nap. I deserve to finally feel safe, cherished, and free to just be a dog! If you’re ready to be the lucky one who gives me my second “Chance,” I promise I’ll be the most devoted, loving companion you’ve ever met! My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##2197184##
