Story
Introducing Rafiki: A Gentle Soul Seeking a Tranquil Sanctuary Meet Rafiki, a truly special boy who brings love and resilience in equal measure. Surrendered to us after being found as a stray, Rafiki's journey has been one of courage and triumph over challenges. Despite a rough start with untreated seizures, his spirit remains unbroken, and he’s now looking for a calm, loving environment to call home. Rafiki’s Needs: Rafiki's seizures are now 98% under control, thanks to dedicated care and medical attention. However, he thrives in a peaceful setting as too much activity can increase his seizure activity. A home without other pets or with just one other calm dog would be ideal for him, ensuring he remains relaxed and happy. What Makes Rafiki Special? Aside from his brave heart, Rafiki is house trained, crate trained, and wonderfully nondestructive—though he has a soft spot for a good stuffie! His favorite pastimes are snuggling on the couch and playing with his collection of squeaky toys and benebones. He even takes his beloved stuffies with him when he goes out to potty, showing just how much they mean to him. The Ideal Home for Rafiki: Rafiki's perfect match would be someone who appreciates the joys and the challenges of caring for a special needs dog. He needs a serene home where he can relax deeply and bond with his caregiver. A fenced backyard is essential for him to safely enjoy the outdoors. Why Choose Rafiki? Choosing to love Rafiki means embracing his uniqueness and providing him with the stability and care he needs to manage his health. In return, Rafiki offers unwavering companionship, endless cuddles, and a reminder of the impact of compassion and resilience. If you’re looking for a quiet companion and aren’t afraid of a little special in your life, Rafiki might just be the dog for you. His calm demeanor and loving nature make him a wonderful addition to a peaceful household. Ready to provide a sanctuary for Rafiki? His journey could lead to your doorstep, transforming both his life and yours. APPLY to FOSTER or ADOPT: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster

Story
Meet Millie – A Shy Soul with a Heart Ready to Bloom Millie has come a long way from the field she once called home. Found last summer with her siblings, living under a car in the heat, Millie (formerly Nillie) was the most shut down of the group. She flinched at every movement, avoided touch, and kept the world at a safe distance. But through months of patient fostering, she’s learning that love can be safe—and that life has so much more to offer than survival. Today, Millie is still a gentle, quiet soul, but she’s showing us more and more of who she truly is: sweet, loyal, silly in her own quiet way. She’ll follow her foster dogs like a shadow, curling up beside them or trailing behind them on quiet walks through the yard. She puts herself in her crate when she senses her human is leaving and waits patiently for their return. She snorts when she’s happy. She snores like a tiny piglet when she naps. And she lights up at mealtime like it’s the best part of her day. Millie still has some work to do—she’s learning potty training, figuring out how to walk confidently on leash, and still startles with sudden changes—but what she needs most is another dog by her side. She blossoms around confident, kind dogs who show her what it means to be safe, loved, and at ease. Her ideal home is calm and quiet, with a fenced yard and a dog buddy who can be her guide. She’d do best with adults or older children who understand that trust takes time. But once she gives it to you—once she chooses you—you’ll have a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be near. Millie doesn’t need much. Just patience. Kindness. And someone who sees her not for where she’s been, but for how far she’s come—and how much love she still has to give. If you have space in your heart and home, and a dog who might just be Millie’s new best friend, apply to foster or adopt today. Let’s help this beautiful girl write her next chapter. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Story
Meet Harper — a survivor with a heart full of hope and a second chance at life. Just last week, one of our adopters spotted her tangled in a fence, choking and terrified. They jumped into action, freeing her in the nick of time. Inside the home, they found her elderly owner — a kind man who loved her deeply but could no longer provide the care she needed. Thanks to his selflessness and her rescuer’s bravery, Harper is safe — and now she’s ready for a home filled with love and security. Harper is about a year old, curious, and bursting with personality. She’s learning fast — mastering potty training, sleeping quietly in her crate, and adjusting to the comforts of indoor life. She’s gentle, affectionate, and happiest near her people, especially kids. She loves her toys, enjoys exploring outside, and will army crawl right into your lap for love. About Harper: - 1 year old, full of energy and heart - Food-motivated and quick to learn - Potty trained and crate trained - Great with kids and affectionate with her people - Calm indoors, curious outdoors - Dog-friendly with proper introductions Harper has survived the unthinkable and still greets every day with love. She’s ready for a foster-to-adopt or forever home that will give her patience, consistency, and the safety she’s always deserved. She’s learning what it means to be loved — could you be the one to show her? Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
