Story
Meet Scout! A handsome boy who has a big personality and an even bigger heart for the right person. Scout is looking for a patient, dog-savvy adopter who understands that building trust takes time—he’ll need multiple meet-and-greets before he's ready to head home. While he prefers to be the only pet in the household, Scout can enjoy doggy play dates with the right canine buddies outside the home. A kid-free environment will help him feel safe and relaxed, and he’ll thrive with a consistent training plan and a calm adjustment period as he settles into his new space. With the right support, Scout is ready to show off his goofy charm and loyal spirit. Could you be the one to help him blossom? - Around 5 years 4 months old - Currently just under 75lbs fully grown - Prefers to be king of his castle with no other animals, but will do doggy playdates - Prefers a home with older kids who can help train and respect his space - Multiple meetings & training plan before going home - Adoption fee: $175 *sponsored* This dog is currently housed at our shelter. If you are interested, please come in at your earliest availability during our open hours, no appointment necessary. We do same-day adoptions, do not hold dogs, and work on a first-come, first-served basis as long as it is an excellent fit for both parties. If you have questions or want to possibly schedule an appointment on one of our closed days, you may email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Future vaccines, tests, and treatments will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
Meet Rex, a resilient and affectionate boy with a heart as big as his spirit. Rex was born with congenital megaesophagus, a condition that requires him to be fed upright in a Bailey chair so food can move safely into his stomach. He thrives on a high-quality, nutrient-dense diet—currently The Farmer’s Dog, which has been working well for him. Rex will need lifelong management, including special feeding routines, possible medications, and regular veterinary checkups to keep him feeling his best. While this condition may shorten his lifespan, Rex doesn’t let it dim his joy—he is a loving, social dog who delights in spending time with people and embracing each day with enthusiasm. Rex is looking for a dedicated adopter who can continue his care and give him the warm, supportive home he deserves. *Bailey chair will be sent home when adopted* - Around 3 years old - Currently just under 70lbs - Good with kids, prefers a slow introduction to dogs and cats. - Adoption fee: $350 To inquire about this dog, please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. Those who provide the previous information will be considered first for this canine. Please do NOT call our center. This will help us match you and the animal the best we can.
