Story
UPDATE- Akoya has been moved to PETA to await her new home for the time being. She is the perfect angel when left at home alone. She curls up in her comfortable safe spot until your return. She loves to play, cuddle, hug and kiss. She is better paired with only dogs her size or bigger when playing and mid to late teens and adults only, as she tends to play rough, but is quick to apologize if she gets too rough. She is small for her hybrid breed and is super fast and strong. She would be in agility classes to see were she is best at course competition because she loves to learn and enjoys going to school. She is one who will win purses! She needs a caregiver with a big backyard for her to run and explore. She does not like to be confined but will put herself in time out if she thinks she did wrong. She is trained to potty inside and outside and she comes with all her pet belongings. Reach out to me to find out.

These pups are in Virginia Beach, Virginia too!

Story
Daisy Girl has been with our shelter since July 2025. She was surrendered at no fault of her own and in need of some medical intervention! Her skin issues are now under control, her weight at time of intake was 108.4 and Daisy is happy to let you know she is coming in at a nice slim 77.2 pounds these days. Her weight loss has helped her mobility and attitude greatly and enjoys her walks and outside time even more now! She was also found to have low thyroid and will be on medication lifelong with regular check ins with your vet to make sure dosing is correct.Since being with us Daisy has been friends with various canines watching each one go to their forever home while she waits. She has learned to play and interact a bit roughly with other dogs. We do however recommend Daisy as the only dog but if you have active playful canines that can match Daisy`s vibe please talk with our kennel staff and we can discuss about a meet and greet. We recommend children 10 and up as she has never lived with young kids but has done well in meeting older kids while here at the shelter. While shelter life has helped Daisy in some ways it can not replace a home with a family. We know that Daisy would make someone a great companion if only given the chance. If you would like to meet with Daisy or have more questions please speak with our kennel team!

Story
This handsome guy is Arfur! We don`t know much about his past but we do know that he is ready to find his forever family. This guy loves attention from his people and will loudly tell you how he feels about being ignored. Adopters with shared walls should keep in mind that he likes to howl once in a while. Arfur is a very playful guy and we think that he would thrive in a home with a canine companion. He also REALLY loves attention from his people so he will do best in a family that has lots of time for snuggles. Adopters should expect normal puppy behavior and be ready to help Arfur with all of his puppy training needs. He will need help with potty training, leash walking, crate training and some extra manners etc. Arfur also really enjoyed having a little puppy pool while he was here so he may be a big fan of the water! If you think this fun loving snuggly guy could be your new best friend, come in and meet him today!**Arfur is a growing boy, adopters will need to be aware of size and breed restrictions if they are renting**

Story
Pokie is searching for his forever family. After being surrendered to the VBSPCA due to no fault of his own and finally getting his skin issues addressed Pokie is ready for a new life. This handsome fella will need children 12 and to meet any resident canines prior to adoption. He is currently being treated for his skin allergies and will need a dental prior to adoption. Pokie has gotten along with staff and even made a canine friend who he is still getting use to. We recommend that adopters be prepared for long term care of his skin which may mean regular vet visits. We know there is a family our there for Pokie! Come and visit him today!
