Meet Keropi! Keropi is a sweet 5.5-month-old German Shepherd mix pup from Puerto Rico. He and his sister came from an accidental litter and were sadly discarded through no fault of their own. Thankfully, they were rescued and Keropi is now thriving in the care of one of our amazing rescuers. This little guy weighs around 20 lbs and has already received his 3DHLPP and Bordetella vaccines. Keropi is full of hope and ready for a brighter future in the States—one filled with love, stability, and a forever family. Story
SNOW - 9 years old, 50 pounds, house trained but has accidents, good with kids/dogs, unsure about cats Snow is a return resident at VBACAC. He was first surrendered last year with his canine bro due to a family lifestyle change.  He had been with them his whole life. He was adopted and is now back due to no fault of his own again but a loss of the family home. He's a friendly boy standing tall with long lean legs. He has that long shepherd muzzle and it seems he's lost quite a few pounds since the last time we saw him.  Snow is friendly from the start but it's always good to go slow and let every dog settle into a new environment at their own pace. Snow can be trusted to roam free in the home when you are home or not but we are told he does have accidents in the home. We are told he is friendly and playful with other dogs. In our shelter playgroup Snow seems to enjoy himself after proper introductions to the other dogs.  Snow does not like when you take his toys and he will bark at you.  Snow is currently in our large dog adoption kennel. If you are looking for an easy-going experienced dog, you must meet Snow!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 13, 2025, 1:48 pm

DIESEL - 4 years old, 67 pounds, house trained, dog social, lived with a cat Diesel ended up behind bars due to no fault of his own. He is a 4 year old playful and active boy who lived with other dogs and a kitty. Sporting a mostly tan body (probably a little thin even) with long lean legs and a black muzzle, he is nervous in the shelter. To be fair, many dogs are nervous in the beginning. It just takes a short bit of time to warm up to new people and dogs. He was almost perfect when meeting the other playgroup dogs, sniffing appropriately, backing off if another dog corrected him, and also initiating play with play bows and gentle taps on others' back with his paw. Super cute! A few times he got excited when he ran to me and jumped up placing both paws on my chest! He stood just about as tall as me, too! You better be ready for kisses! Diesel can be trusted roaming freely around with his family. He is used to being limited to a room when left alone. We are told he also might have an accident and/or cry or whine when left alone. He loves going for walks and was walked several times daily in his previous home.  Diesel will be that boy who follows you around. He wants to be close to you. He wants your attention and he wants your love. It's easy to give all of these to a sweet boy like Diesel! He is currently in a back kennel so if you come in to meet him and don't see him, please just ask.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 13, 2025, 4:02 pm

Story
Want a German Shepherd WITHOUT the giant body, bad hips, and too much energy? Well look no further!!! Kobe was born with SOS rescue and adopted with his sister. His sister was returned about 4 years later due to her bullying him and then he was also returned a year later for not adjusting well to a new baby in the house. Kobe is currently being fostered with a 2 year old toddler, another small dog, and 3 cats. Kobe was very curious about the cats at first but quickly got used to them ruling the house. Kobe is crate trained; however, he is a master of opening the kennel door and letting himself out. Due to him being bullied he is food aggressive and needs to kenneled when he eats, but he gets very very excited to eat and will gladly bolt into his kennel. Kobe is a skittish dog that was never properly socialized to the outside world. He spent a lot of his younger years outside in the back yard. Kobe loves being outside and loves to dig little holes when nobody is watching. Kobe is good with children but does have a small fear of men that we are working on. He is very cuddly and loves to snooze in the bed . Kobe has a loud deep bark that he will let out when he doesn’t see you to let you know he wants to be around you . He is a very easy going guy but does have some quirks.

We are 5 1/ hrs west of VA Beach. We can transport 1/2 way for $100 or we can transport to VA Beach for $200. This will cover just my gas with today's high gas prices. You are welcome to drive to us in Mt.Airy, NC to pick up. Transport is on hold due to vehicle issues. Sheldon came from a local shelter. They were over full and he was in danger of being euthanized. He is a german shepherd mix. The vet said he is around 2 years old( as of 6-22-23). He is a tall lanky dog, around 65 to 70 pounds. He is a sweet boy and very affectionate. He needs a home with room to run. He is energetic and would need an adopter who can embrace it. He will make THE BEST hiking buddy ever. He likes water to. He would be best in a home where he can be the only dog. If he can't be an only dog he needs a home with a large breed submissive female. He would also do well with puppies. He is doing well with crate training and house training. He will go to his new home current on vaccines, testing, preventives, neutered and microchipped. He will receive a complete physical by our vet prior to going home. He will also be issued a certificate of Health. The adopter will get all the health records with adoption. We require a pre screen application to adopt. You can get that on our website at www.saveamuttkennel.net

Story
Max is a Dutch Shepherd and approximately 3 years old. He is a typical Dutchie in many ways. He is very toy driven and loves a game of fetch. When excited he's mouthy and will def give you the love nibbles. He is not interested in making many human friends outside of "his" people, but as long as he is under control/guidance of his handler he does fine. This means that he isn't the life of the party when people come over or the dog that is going to be pet on by strangers. He bonds with his people and is so goofy and fun to have around. He is mostly house and crate trained. He requires a fenced yard to enjoy. Max does know basic obedience. He is dog social but prefers females. He will require an adult home. No cats please. He is healthy and happy and would be great for an active pet home or a hobby sport pet home! Interested families can submit applications for adoption on our website- www.k9Justiceleague.com.

Story
Willow is a stunning 2-year-old Malinois mix with a heart as big as her ears! This sweet girl is looking for a fresh start and a loving home where she can truly thrive. While she may be a bit shy at first and sensitive to loud noises, Willow has already shown incredible progress since arriving at the shelter. She`s been settling in beautifully with the support of our caring staff. To help her feel her best, Willow is currently taking anti-anxiety medication and receiving treatment for a past leg injury. She also takes a joint supplement to support her long-term mobility. Her injury does require ongoing vet care, and our team will gladly go over the details with potential adopters. Willow would do best in a dog-savvy home with children 12 or older and no cats, please—she prefers a feline-free environment. If you already have dogs at home, we’d be happy to arrange introductions to make sure everyone gets along. Willow is a resilient and loving dog who’s ready to find the right match. If you’d like to learn more or schedule a meet-and-greet, our kennel staff would be delighted to help you get to know this special girl!
