Story
Age/Birthdate: 07/14/2016 • Weight: 80lbs• Breed Guess: Siberian Husky • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $175 Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Yes, Takes Proin 1 time a day due to urinary incontinence. The medication has been effective for her resolving incontinence. Temperament with: Dogs: Great Cats: Came from a home with cats Children list specific ages: All ages Strangers: Shy at first then wants all the attention Training Needs: Crate Trained: No, doesn't need to be crated Potty Trained: Yes Izzy is a GRACEFUL 8-year-old Siberian Husky weighing in around 80 pounds! This stunning girl has aged like fine wine with her beautiful grey and black coat and bi eyes (one blue and one brown eye)! This gal has a heart full of love and just the right touch of Husky sass so don’t let her age fool you, she still has plenty of playful zoomies left in her! Izzy is the perfect mix of couch potato and adventure buddy as she loves lounging on cool floors but also enjoys running happy laps around the backyard with her foster siblings! Izzy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even lived with cats in her previous home, making her an easygoing companion who could fit beautifully into almost any household! She absolutely ADORES children — especially her foster’s grandkids (ages 9 and 11) — and would LOVE a home with kiddos to dote on! Izzy can be shy and is a girls girl so she tends to warm up to women a little faster than men but regardless, Izzy is always polite and warms up quickly with kindness and patience! Once she feels comfortable, she’s all about snuggles, belly rubs, and gentle affection! This smart, well-mannered girl is also fully potty trained and does GREAT when left alone — no crate needed! She knows a few tricks like sit, lay down, and paw, and she walks beautifully on leash, making her a great walking buddy for peaceful neighborhood strolls! Izzy also takes treats very gently (especially Milk Bone peanut butter bites — her favorite!). Izzy is still building trust in some areas after a tough past — her former owners kept her in a crawl space before rescue. Despite that, she has blossomed into a loving, loyal dog who just craves affection and security! She can be nervous at the vet (who isn't, right?), but she handled everything like a champ with a gentle, patient approach. Sweet Izzy also prefers to be brushed rather than bathed for now, as she continues learning that people can be kind and safe. With the right family that is willing to take things at Izzy’s pace while showing love and affection, she’ll continue to blossom into the confident, happy dog she was always meant to be. Izzy’s gentle spirit and forgiving heart are truly remarkable — she just wants to be loved and to know she’s finally safe! Once she trusts you, she’ll reward you with endless loyalty, soft snuggles, and that sweet Husky smile that lights up the room! If you’ve always dreamed of having a Husky but worried about the high energy or mischief that comes with having a husky, Izzy is the perfect introduction to the breed! She embodies all the best Husky traits — beauty, loyalty, and charm — without the chaos! Whoever welcomes Izzy into their home will be incredibly lucky to have such a sweet, resilient, and loving girl by their side This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. If the dog or puppy is not yet fully vetted, we can only consider applications from adopters within an hour's drive or 40 miles of Lemont, IL, due to required vet visits at our partner veterinarians. For fully vetted dogs or puppies, we welcome applications from out-of-state or beyond the 40-mile radius. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care. Spay/Neuter Policy: We spay/neuter dogs at 16 weeks or older, at the discretion of the rescue and in consultation with our partner veterinarians. While some veterinarians recommend delaying the procedure based on a breeds projected size, as a rescue, our primary goal is to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits, including cancer prevention and reducing behavioral issues. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay/neuter for cats and dogs as early as 16 weeks. We carefully assess each case to determine the best timing for the procedure. Interested in Adopting? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt

Story
Age/Birthdate: 02/05/2022 • Current Weight: 76 lbs • Breed Guess: German Shepherd • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $0 fee has been sponsored by a generous donor! Location: Bolingbrook, IL Any Medical or Special Needs: None Temperament with: •Dogs: Yes, he LOVES other dogs •Cats: Yes, he LOVES cats •Children: No •Strangers: Good but will need slow introductions Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Reese is a HANDSOME Shepherd mix weighing in at a solid 76 pounds at just under 4 years old! Sadly, the first two years of Reese’s life were filled with abuse and disappointment. As a result, he was profoundly affected — constantly being in harm’s way was all he knew during his puppy years. Despite his rough start, Reese has shown incredible resilience and heart. He’s ready to leave his past behind and continue learning that not all people mean harm. Reese will need a patient and understanding family that will allow him the time he needs to decompress and warm up. His ideal home would be with a single woman or with a small family- Shepherd experience would help tremendously as an adopter will have to be willing to play the long game to earn his trust. Reese has come leaps and bounds from where he started and now has a wonderful bond with his foster mom, but he’ll need continued support during his transition to ensure he builds equally strong relationships with his new family! While he’s made amazing progress, Reese still needs a family who understands his past trauma and is dedicated to helping him continue to heal. In typical Shepherd fashion, earning his trust can take time, but once you have it, he’ll trust you with his life 1000%! Once you get past Reese’s tough-guy armor, you’ll discover what a true softie he is! Reese is the perfect mix of energy and couch potato. He LOVES playing with his fur friends in the backyard but also enjoys long snooze sessions on the couch. When relaxing, he’s happy to chew on a bone and watch TV — especially Hallmark movies! (He’ll even tolerate a football game or two for the guys, if he must!) While Reese’s trust issues stem from humans, no animals have ever done this boy wrong — he absolutely LOVES other animals! Whether it’s puppies, adult dogs, cats, or kittens, Reese has never met an animal he doesn’t adore! He’s been a foster brother to animals of all shapes, sizes, ages, temperaments, and energy levels, and has always been the gentle, dependable “big brother” they can look up to! True to his Shepherd nature, Reese is a caregiver — he can often be seen lovingly grooming his elderly foster sibling or keeping a watchful eye on his rambunctious foster kittens! If you already have other furbabies, Reese would be a wonderful addition! He has no food, toy, or water aggression and would integrates easily into a multi-pet home! Reese is also potty and crate trained! He knows the words “crate” and “place” as cues to go to his crate! Since he’s naturally curious, his foster mom crates him when she’s away — which he doesn’t mind at all, as he’ll happily nap until you return! If you’d rather take him along, that’s no problem either — Reese loves car rides and will gladly hop in the vehicle himself! He’s also great about keeping all four paws on the ground (which is great given his size)! Speaking of paws, he’s not the biggest fan of having his toes touched (but who is?), and he’s currently working on perfecting “heel” while walking! Reese is looking for a patient, German Shepherd–savvy adopter who will see past his initial walls and give him the time, structure, and love he needs to fully open up! With understanding and commitment, his future family will be rewarded with one of the most loyal, loving, and devoted companions imaginable! If you're interested in meeting handsome Reese, please fill out the application below! https://www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt If you’re someone who’s patient, understanding, and looking for a deeply loyal companion, I might be your perfect match. I’m ready for my forever home—somewhere I can finally feel safe, loved, and at peace.
