Story
Pilot is a handsome 2-year-old Shepherd mix weighing in at about 80 pounds of love, loyalty, and personality. This big guy may look tough, but with his people, he's an affectionate goofball who doesn't seem to realize just how large he is. Whether he's tossing his toys in the air, carrying sticks around the yard like prized treasures, or greeting his favorite humans with happy "roo-roo" noises and full-body wiggles, Pilot has a way of making everyone smile.Pilot is fully house-trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside by whining or heading to the door. He sleeps through the night without issue and does well when left in his own room while his family is away. While crates aren't a good fit for him due to anxiety, he has proven to be respectful and non-destructive when given a comfortable space of his own. This smart boy enjoys daily walks, playing fetch, running around the yard, snuggling with his people, and earning tasty treats. He has a moderate energy level and would thrive with an adopter who can provide regular exercise and enrichment. A securely fenced yard is ideal so he can safely stretch his legs and explore.Pilot has been working with an experienced trainer and behaviorist who is very familiar with his breed mix, and they have wonderful things to say about him. Since beginning training, Pilot has made impressive progress and continues to build his confidence and skills. He is a fast learner who responds well to clear guidance, loves to work, and is highly motivated by tasty treats. His training will continue while he is in foster care to help set him up for long-term success. To help make the transition as smooth as possible, Pilot's adoption also includes an additional in-home training session with his trainer. This gives his new family the opportunity to learn what works best for Pilot, get everyone on the same page, and address any questions or concerns as he settles into his forever home.Pilot currently lives successfully with two large-breed dogs. He can be selective of dogs that he is accepting of, so introductions to new dogs should be done slowly, intentionally, and with great care. He has also lived with cats and can coexist peacefully once he gets to know them. New cats are very interesting to him, but he responds appropriately to their boundaries and corrections.Pilot's story has shaped who he is today. He came into rescue as a young puppy from an abandonment case and has experienced multiple home transitions throughout his life. Because of this, he forms deep bonds with his people and looks to them for comfort and security. What Pilot wants most is a stable, committed family where he can finally feel at home forever.Potential adopters should know that Pilot is very protective of his home and yard. He has a bite history involving both dogs and humans, though his interactions with people have been warning bites that did not break skin. He is not a dog who will welcome unfamiliar visitors into his space right away, and he will need experienced adopters who understand management, structure, and proper introductions. For this reason, we recommend a home with adults or older teens and adopters who are willing to continue helping Pilot build confidence and maintain clear boundaries. In return, Pilot offers unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and the kind of companionship that only comes from a dog who truly loves his people. If you're looking for a devoted best friend and have the experience and commitment to help him succeed, Pilot may be the perfect addition to your family. If you are interested in Pilot, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Story
If you're looking for the perfect combination of sweet, silly, and snuggly, Norm is your guy!At just 3 months old, this handsome, black-coated pup is already winning hearts with his gentle nature and goofy personality. Norm loves nothing more than belly rubs, cuddling up with his people, and hanging out with his siblings. He's the kind of puppy who will happily flop onto his back for tummy scratches and soak up every bit of affection you have to offer.Like any puppy, Norm has his playful moments! He enjoys carrying toys around, wrestling with his siblings, and showing off the occasional burst of zoomies, even if his excitement sometimes gets the better of his coordination. Let's just say walls and gravity occasionally win, but his lovable clumsiness only makes him more adorable.Norm has adjusted beautifully to foster life and has blossomed with routine, love, and plenty of positive attention. He's crate trained, sleeps and eats comfortably in his crate, and is doing a great job learning his house-training skills. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, has done well around young children, and would likely thrive in a home that offers companionship, consistency, and lots of cuddles.Named after the lovable character from Cheers, Norm has that same warm, steady presence that makes everyone feel at home. He has a calm, easy-going temperament that's balanced perfectly with playful puppy energy, making him just as happy to join in on playtime as he is to curl up beside you for a nap.If you're ready to add a loyal best friend with a gentle heart, a goofy streak, and endless cuddle potential to your family, Norm can't wait to meet you!If you are interested in Norm, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550. Story
Meet Glow, a 3-month-old Shepherd mix with a gentle heart, a bright mind, and a whole lot of love to give! At about 13 pounds now, she's expected to grow into a medium-sized dog and is already showing what a loyal little companion she'll become.Glow is the kind of puppy who forms a special bond with her people. She is sweet, observant, and eager to please, always looking to her favorite person for guidance and happily staying close by. While she can be a little shy when meeting new people or dogs, it doesn't take long for her playful, affectionate personality to shine through. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing once she feels comfortable, although she would also be perfectly happy as the center of her family's world. Glow has met cats and is curious but respectful, and she is wonderful with kids, greeting them with a gentle nature and happily sitting for pets and attention.Like any young puppy, Glow is still learning. She is making great progress with potty training and is quick to do her business once she gets outside. She is also working on crate training. She would much rather be with her people, so she may let you know how she feels before settling down for a nap.Glow loves all kinds of toys, especially balls, and enjoys exploring the backyard before finding a shady spot to relax when playtime is over. She even tries to protect her home with her adorable "big dog" bark whenever she hears something outside. Her moderate energy level means a few play sessions and a short daily walk will keep her happy. If you're looking for a smart, loyal puppy who will be your shadow, your biggest fan, and your best friend, Glow is ready to light up your life.If you are interested in Glow, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $550.
