Story
We are rehoming our 2.8-year-old cuddly, energetic, and loyal purebred Shiba Inu, Loki. Loki is neutered, crate-trained, potty-trained, leash-trained, and has knowledge of all basic obedience commands: sit, down, place, & shake. Loki is up to date with all his shots, and has a clean bill of health from his last vet visit (8/2023). Loki weighs 28lbs and is athletic and speedy. He loves to engage other dogs in games of chase at the dog park, chase after his toys in the house, or engage his sister in zoomies. He enjoys hiking and running, dog park chases, and is very affectionate - especially for a Shiba Inu. He loves to cuddle on the couch or bed, but is crate trained for sleeping if necessary. Loki lives with another 6-year-old fixed female Shiba Inu and gets along with her well. We have had him for 2 years, and love him dearly. We are looking to rehome Loki due to space and financial constraints due to the arrival of our human baby. Great with older kids and similar sized dogs.

I’m a local gal from Virginia on the hunt for my forever home and I’m hoping you can help. I’m very sweet and I really love people.  I'm OK with dogs in general but, okay, I'm a dominant sort of gal and would probably prefer to be the only canine in the house.  I've got some smarts too and I know the commands sit and lay down. I just want to find a place where I can feel safe and loved. Why don’t you fill out an application so we can meet and see if we click? I’d love to see your place! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Ok, who else in the audience LOVES the JAPANESE BREEDS???? Shiba Inu, Akita???? WE LOVE THEM ALL!! So, I am what we all believe is a Shiba/Chow mix. And each of these breeds have a couple of things in common- we are clean dogs (more like cats than dogs), we are stubborn, we love our people (and are picky about people who are not them), and we are absolutely gorgeous!! So there is my personality :) I am good with other dogs, love females more than male dogs but can get along with both. I am only 45#, compact with gorgeous fur. I am so smart, so independent, so stubborn and SO LOVABLE! If you are my peeps, you will have enough love for the rest of your lives!! I am being social at the rescue, I am exposed to and cared for by quite a few different people, I just love my real peeps more!! lol If you want to meet me and adopt me, let my rescue know! Fill out the application and lets get on with our forever lives :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
My name is Mango, and I’m named after the city of Mango in Florida. the state that I was rescued from. I’m a 6-month-old red female Shiba Inu. I came from a breeder in Florida who became ill and was unable to keep us. Their son contacted the Shiba Inu Rescue of Florida, and they contacted DC SIR to help take in 10 of us. I made it to Shiba Headquarters and was so happy to meet all the other rescue dogs. My foster family picked me up, along with my new foster brother Juno. We had a long ride, which made me a little stressed. I just laid down and eventually fell asleep. When I got home, it felt so great to run around. I have lots of energy! I LOVE toys! I love playing fetch outside. I love tug toys and anything I can chew when I’m inside. I’m very protective of anything I’m enjoying. If Juno is near me, I snap and grab him on the snout to tell him to stay away. I’m told this isn’t very nice, so I’m getting better. Now I can only play with my toys if I’m in a different area by myself or I’m being supervised. When I’m relaxing in the house, I love being pet. I love attention and will ask for it by licking you to death. I’ve also learned to go up and down the stairs, which was scary at first. Now I’m a pro. At night, I sleep in my crate. Treat-stuffed toys, bully sticks, and turkey tendons are the best to keep me busy when I’m in there. Then I relax and fall asleep. When it’s time to wake up and get out of my crate, I jump and cry, but I’m learning to be calm before I get out. I’m excited because I know I’m about to go for a walk. But walks are on my terms. I like to go where I want to go and will not move if I don’t approve the direction we are going. I’m getting a little better though, and I’ve been going further on the walks, exploring new things. I love to smell everything on my path. I think my path in life is going to be bright. Will you help make that happen?
