Story
If you’re looking for a dog to be your companion, Manny is a dancing, prancing little bundle of happiness and personality! He loves to chase balls, and he’ll even fetch for a while. He’d be an ideal companion for an outdoors-lover and could definitely excel in a multi-dog household.. Walks are great but Manny needs a yard where he can run around, ideally with a dog and a human playmate. Manny has spent many months in the company of a wide variety of dogs and is a favorite companion and playmate. The friendship continues inside when everyone relaxes and Manny grooms other dogs like he’s a cat. That’s Manny, a unique personality! Although Manny is fed in a crate and will often seek out his open crate to relax in, he’s had free-rein on the main level in his foster house. Not only is his house-training solid but he doesn’t destroy things that are not his; he owns many toys and chewables that he enjoys gnawing on. However, as with any dog in an unfamiliar home, Manny should be monitored carefully to be sure he has retained those in-home skills. Manny does seem to think he’s human sometimes and loves to balance and walk on his rear legs. He would benefit greatly from continued training on basic commands like come, sit and stay. Manny is very smart and gentle voice correction or redirection is very useful for him to learn your expectations. He’s also a very affectionate little dog with people and loves to cuddle with you. Grooming is a breeze with Manny’s short and sleek coat which only requires at-home brushing and washing. If you prefer less shedding inside your home, just increase coat brushing. If you would treasure this loving young dog and can commit to providing a forever-home where his health and happiness are priorities, please complete an application for Manny! DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Tank is bonded with Rusty, 10yo, weighs 50-60lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  Tank has free roam of the house during the day and sleeps on the couch or on his bed at night.  There are no issues with Tank during car rides.  He does, however, dislike/fear thunder/loud noises. Tank's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  Tank's current guardian is fostering him and Rusty and has been since she rescued them from an untenable living situation in December 2023.  Since their foster provider/guardian already has 2 dogs of her own, she must rehomed them, preferably together. Tank's guardian states the following regarding children:  Tank lives with children, ages birth to 7yo, so his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "Similar to Rusty, he likes to be petted but will typically the just relax/find his own spot". Tank's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Tank lives with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "While on walks, he's not too interested in other dogs.  If living in a house with other dogs, I would recommend calm dogs.  I have two small/more active dogs, and Tank doesn't like when they play". Tank's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Tank hasn't lived with cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats. Tank's guardian describes him as: Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Likes men Likes women Tank's guardian describes his ideal future home:   "Tank gets very excited to go outside, so I would love for him to have a fenced in yard in his forever home.  I would also really like to place Tank and Rusty together.  Tank gets a little anxious/nervous (it took about 3-4 weeks for him to get settled in my home), so a calmer home would be ideal. I would also love to keep in touch/could be a dog-sitter if/when needed." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Gambrills, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. Story
These 3 sisters were part of a litter of nine puppies born in November, 2023. The mother of the litter is a Shiba Inu breed, and the father is a Shih Tzu/Terries mix breed. Princess Fudge has mostly Black silky fur with a spot of white on her chest and very much resembles her mother. She also has a slender frame and loves to run. She is most definitely the fastest of all her siblings. Lil’ Miss has mostly Black silky fur with a streak of white under her chin and leading into her chest. She is sassy but very playful. Pinky is the smallest of the bunch but is the sweetest and most adventurous and will jump right into your lap. She has mostly Black silky fur with a streak of white from her chin to her belly and all white paws. All 3 three pups are available for adoption separately or together. They have all required vaccines including for Rabies. Documentation will be provided if requested. Please email at xxxx@xxxx.x and/or xxxx@xxxx.x if interested in adopting.

Story
Rosie is a senior Shiba Inu who ended up at Animal Control after her human passed away in her home, and no one knew for some time. Her extended family tried to keep her for a few days, but she can be a bit snappy with people she doesn’t know. When the DC SIR Volunteer picked her up she was put into a crate for transport. She doesn’t like crates and let everyone know. When her foster dad picked her up at the transfer location, she snapped and snarled. Luckily, her new foster dad didn't have a crate and allowed her to lean on him and cuddle on his lap on part of the drive. Fortunately, her foster parents have worked with fearful and reactive dogs, so they knew how to build gain her trust. She can go in and out to their backyard to potty without issue. She loves all the yummy raw food her foster parents give her; she can gently take treats from them, but will growl if she thinks they might get too close. Her foster parents see that she is a sweet girl who needs savvy adopters who will take the time to earn her trust so that I can feel safe to be herself. She may not be a big cuddler, but she can bring happiness to a family that will take the time to give her a loving home.
