If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/generic.You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.Dog's Name:   Stella  (STE0823DICFD)Estimated Breed:   Shiba Inu MIX  Approximate Age:   2-3 yearsApproximate Weight:  35-40 lbsCurrently Living at:   BoardingAdoption Fee:   $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Hi, I’m Stella! I’m on the hunt for my forever home and I’m hoping you can help.  Some people who see me think I'm a Shiba Inu, some think I'm a Korean Jindo, some say Canaan Dog...  I don't really care, because they also say that I'm gorgeous.   I’m very playful and very energetic and I really love people.  I'm OK with dogs in general but, okay, I'm a dominant sort of gal and don't much like other dogs getting in my face too much and would probably prefer to be the only canine in the house.  I've got some smarts too and I know the commands sit and lay down. I absolutely LOVE playing with toys and I also know how to catch! I just want to find a place where I can feel safe and loved. Why don’t you fill out an application so we can meet and see if we click? I’d love to see your place! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
We are rehoming our 2.8-year-old cuddly, energetic, and loyal purebred Shiba Inu, Loki. Loki is neutered, crate-trained, potty-trained, leash-trained, and has knowledge of all basic obedience commands: sit, down, place, & shake. Loki is up to date with all his shots, and has a clean bill of health from his last vet visit (8/2023). Loki weighs 28lbs and is athletic and speedy. He loves to engage other dogs in games of chase at the dog park, chase after his toys in the house, or engage his sister in zoomies. He enjoys hiking and running, dog park chases, and is very affectionate - especially for a Shiba Inu. He loves to cuddle on the couch or bed, but is crate trained for sleeping if necessary. Loki lives with another 6-year-old fixed female Shiba Inu and gets along with her well. We have had him for 2 years, and love him dearly. We are looking to rehome Loki due to space and financial constraints due to the arrival of our human baby. Great with older kids and similar sized dogs.

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Tank is bonded with Rusty, 10yo, weighs 50-60lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped.  Tank has free roam of the house during the day and sleeps on the couch or on his bed at night.  There are no issues with Tank during car rides.  He does, however, dislike/fear thunder/loud noises. Tank's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:  Tank's current guardian is fostering him and Rusty and has been since she rescued them from an untenable living situation in December 2023.  Since their foster provider/guardian already has 2 dogs of her own, she must rehomed them, preferably together. Tank's guardian states the following regarding children:  Tank lives with children, ages birth to 7yo, so his guardian recommends his living with children, stating "Similar to Rusty, he likes to be petted but will typically the just relax/find his own spot". Tank's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Tank lives with dogs, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "While on walks, he's not too interested in other dogs.  If living in a house with other dogs, I would recommend calm dogs.  I have two small/more active dogs, and Tank doesn't like when they play". Tank's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Tank hasn't lived with cats, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats. Tank's guardian describes him as: Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Independent Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Likes men Likes women Tank's guardian describes his ideal future home:   "Tank gets very excited to go outside, so I would love for him to have a fenced in yard in his forever home.  I would also really like to place Tank and Rusty together.  Tank gets a little anxious/nervous (it took about 3-4 weeks for him to get settled in my home), so a calmer home would be ideal. I would also love to keep in touch/could be a dog-sitter if/when needed." Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Gambrills, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. If you are interested in ADOPTING me, please CLICK HERE:  ADOPT ME 2. When your application is received, a Placement Manager will do a basic screening. Story
Meet Swiper! He had a difficult start in life but has not let that affect his personality. He is a little shy at first but warms up quickly. He loves attention and cuddling in your lap. He also enjoys walking on leash and playing in the yard. He gets along with his foster family’s small dogs. He is doing well with house training and seems to pick up routines quickly. Swiper would adapt nicely to most homes and would likely do well with older children or an all-adult household. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page to see if Swiper will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Story
Rosie is a senior Shiba Inu who ended up at Animal Control after her human passed away in her home, and no one knew for some time. Her extended family tried to keep her for a few days, but she can be a bit snappy with people she doesn’t know. When the DC SIR Volunteer picked her up she was put into a crate for transport. She doesn’t like crates and let everyone know. When her foster dad picked her up at the transfer location, she snapped and snarled. Luckily, her new foster dad didn't have a crate and allowed her to lean on him and cuddle on his lap on part of the drive. Fortunately, her foster parents have worked with fearful and reactive dogs, so they knew how to build gain her trust. She can go in and out to their backyard to potty without issue. She loves all the yummy raw food her foster parents give her; she can gently take treats from them, but will growl if she thinks they might get too close. Her foster parents see that she is a sweet girl who needs savvy adopters who will take the time to earn her trust so that I can feel safe to be herself. She may not be a big cuddler, but she can bring happiness to a family that will take the time to give her a loving home.
