The kids begged to have a dog and, without any preparation, they family decided to adopt. As she grew, she began to shed, and the children became frightened. They decided to tie her up in the parking lot and left her there, neglected, for two years. The family that adopted her said that they couldn't take her with them when they moved, so she was abandoned in a parking lot and was unfortunately infected with heartworm (which has since been cured!) I had my best 5 years with my mom and dad. Unfortunately, my new human sister came to this world and I need to make the ultimate sacrifice. My younger human sister will need full attention from my parents. I can't blame them. I've been very good to my parents and loyal. I'm a self-trained doggy and will never pee or poop inside the apartment. One thing you need to know about me, being Shiba, is that I shed a lot. I just want to be transparent... I will miss my folks and I know they also want the best for my younger human sister. I'm a dog and I will survive. In that overwhelming environment, she was understandably timid and cautious about being touched—unsure of who she could trust. Once Proper was given time, patience, and reassurance, her true self began to shine. She doesn’t rush into affection, but when approached gently and with respect, she opens up quickly and enjoys quiet, meaningful connection. Proper simply asks to be met where she is—and when she is, her trust is a beautiful thing to earn. Now thriving in a loving foster home, Proper has shown just how special she is. She is mellow, calm, and well-mannered, house trained, and walks nicely on leash. She coexists peacefully with dogs and cats, often content to mind her own business. However, she has exhibited some food-guarding behavior towards other dogs and should be fed alone and kept away from food prep areas if there's another dog in the home.
