Story
Bear is cutie with a lot energy. We have 2 and 5 year old granddaughters, that he likes to have throw a ball, but not give it back to them. He also will allow the girls to hug and pet him. He has never been aggressive toward either of the girls. He is up to date on all his shots, and has been taken to the vet as required. He loves to run and but needs more time learning to walk on the leash. Unfortunately we thought we would have that time but with two grandchildren it’s very difficult to give him the time , love and energy he deserves. We have a yard and an area for him to go do his business. It didn’t take long to guide him in that area instead of all over the yard. He sleeps in his kennel without any problems. We will be getting him fixed by the end of November. Sorry the proper word is hard for me to say. This situation is very difficult and painful for me. But Bear deserves more. My hope is for him to have a new home before Christmas,

Story
11/22/25- Puppy love is in thr air. An adopters cousin contacted us in a struggle. She has a personal shiz tzu. The vet asked her to wait until the dog was at least a year old to alter her. The neighbors poodle gained access to her house while the door was opened. Today we have a beautiful puppy who needs to be adopted. Mama will be spayed after her milk dries up. Puppies have sweet personalities. They have turned 8 weeks old. They have been to the vet, dewormed, vaccinated and ready to find a home. If you are ready to adopt please send us a direct email to animalprayers@gmail.com and request an application. All other emails will be skipped

These pups are in Thousand Oaks, California too!

Story
Meet Mr. Wonderful! This sweet boy was found wandering the streets of Compton, scared, alone, and unsure who to trust. He had no microchip, and after a 10-day stray hold Shelter Hope took him. We got him fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and now he is thriving in foster care, ready for his second chance. Sadly, he has been patiently waiting for his forever home at Shelter Hope for over 4 months. Mr. Wonderful is a tender-hearted 1.5 year old Shih Tzu mix, weighing just 15 lbs. With soulful eyes, a charming underbite, and a beautiful spirit, Mr. Wonderful lives up to his name in every way. Once he feels safe, he becomes a total cuddlebug who loves pets and snuggling in your lap to soak up affection. But he isn’t just about snuggles. Mr. Wonderful is an energetic, enthusiastic guy who loves to zoom around, and play with anyone up for some fun. And the best part? His foster says if you ask him for a kiss, he will run up to you and shower you with love. Mr. Wonderful is a jumper, so he will need a home with a tall, secure fence. He can be a little nervous with new people, but with a bit of patience and kindness, he will soon be climbing into your lap looking for love. Our foster says he does great with older kids who can give him the initial slow introduction he needs to feel comfortable. Mr. Wonderful is ready for the warm and loving family he deserves! —----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Story
Meet Simmba! Simmba is a thriving, loving, loyal, and affectionate boy who truly shines when he’s with his person. Sadly, he was surrendered to us the day after Christmas after spending much of his life confined to a yard where, as the children grew older, he received less and less attention. Since arriving at Shelter Hope, Simmba got a fresh start with a grooming makeover and lots of care. Though the physical and emotional neglect he endured has left its mark, Simmba’s spirit is strong. He can sometimes guard people and may lash out if he feels cornered, so he would do best in a home committed to helping him work through these behaviors with patience, consistency, and plenty of exercise. If you’re ready to give Simmba the loving guidance and active lifestyle he needs, you’ll find in him a devoted companion who will reward you with endless affection and loyalty. ------ Looking to Adopt? Story
This girl is on fire! Meet Leasha Keys (AKA Alicia Keays), the tender terripoo who is ready for her second chance. This 1.5-year-old and 16lb sweetheart came to us as an owner surrender from Taft after her family moved into a home that didn't allow pets. All four of their dogs were surrendered to Shelter Hope. Leasha is a soulful girl who loves quiet moments and gentle pets. Even when she is feeling nervous, she’ll lean in for snuggles and return the love with little small kisses. She does great with other calm dogs. She walks well on a leash and likes car rides! She's a pro at using the doggie door and appears to be housebroken. Her foster tells us that she is such a love, and that they enjoy her every day! Right now, Leasha is being treated for an eye injury that has caused some swelling. She’s safe, comfortable, and getting lots of love in her foster home as she rests and heals. We’ve started her on a new eye drop to help with inflammation, and it’s possible she may need ongoing medication unless the eye is removed. That decision will be made at her 8-week checkup. If you’re looking for a gentle, snuggly best friend, Leasha Keys is your match! She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to be "Fallin'" in love with a forever home! —----- Looking to Adopt?
