Story
Xander was found locked inside a cage on the side of a freeway with two other dogs. Likely hundreds of people drove by and did nothing, but one kind woman stopped to help. Her name is Anna and we thank her for saving their lives.
They had no collars, tags, or microchips. We don't know exactly how long they were out there, but by the looks of it, it was likely several days. They had no food or water. Their paws were so caked in dried poop that they were stuck to the metal cage and couldn't move.
Now they are safe and thriving at Shelter Hope. We named them Xander, Buffy, and Angel!
Xander is an 8 y/o Shih-Poo weighing about 10 pounds.
Of the three, he was in the roughest shape. His fur was severely matted and filthy, and he was limping. We also took him in for a dental, and they had to remove 5 of his teeth. He has arthritis in his back legs, but it hasn’t dampened his joyful spirit. He is incredibly sweet, playful, and happy, with a calm, easygoing personality. Xander gets along well with other dogs, is friendly, and is truly a pleasure to be around, despite everything he has endured.
Now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for adoption, Xander is looking for a forever home where he can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished just as he deserves!
More from his foster:
Xander is not a shy pup. He immediately felt comfortable around my other two boy dogs and made himself at home by laying on all three of the beds that are in the living room. Considering the conditions he was found in he is not aggressive at all. I was able to brush out some of his knots, and he did not react to the brushing. He gets around just fine around the home. Enjoys our long walks in a sling bag. He loves relaxing in the cool grass and even rolls around in it if he has the urge. And boy does he have an appetite! She eats his food with no problem, even though he just lost some teeth. He would be a great addition to any home that wants a chill dog!
