Story
Sassy and Spunky Senior...That's our Coco! This little lady is Coco and she is a 12 year old, 9lb, Toy Poodle. She came to us when her owner passed away and the adult children did not want her. In fact, before the other children could reach out to rescues, the son took Coco to the shelter and dumped her. The daughter pulled her out, contacted us, and asked if we could take her in. We said yes! She was in terrible condition when we got her. She had double ear infections, was matted, and needed a dental. We had everything taken care of and would love for her to be in a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years! Coco has the typical, small breed medical issues. She has a slight trachea issue, small heart murmur (no meds needed at this time), and is starting to have slight eye sight impairment We did have a full dental done on her along with an echocardiogram. Please note that she cannot go on walks at all. She gets too stirred up and will start coughing and with her trachea, a walk will cause a coughing fit. Don't let this deter you because she is very happy just being at home with you. The perfect home for her would be with someone "early" retired who is home most of the day and does not care about taking a dog on a walk. She does need a yard so she can go potty. We also need an adult only home with someone who understands that with her sight issues and just being an older dog, she needs to be picked up slowly otherwise she gets startled. Coco is not needy, but she does love to hang out on the couch and not in a dog bed. She does need and require a dog ramp for the couch and bed where she will definitely want to be at night with you. Coco doesn't really need another dog in the home, but if there is, it should be a calm, older dog. She doesn't do well with young, high energy dogs. A patient, kind, and loving home is exactly what this sweet senior needs. Coco is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Please note that we only adopt in the Greater LA areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Story
This adorable little lady is Josie who is a 4/5 year old, 5lb, female, Poodle/Chihuahua mix. She came to us from a local shelter that reached out to see if we could help. Her owner surrendered her in terrible condition where she was covered in fleas, had a double ear infection, matted, had tapeworms, and not spayed. It took a few weeks to get her feeling better and once she did her full personality came out! Josie is playful, spunky, and full of fun energy! We definitely want her in a home with another young dog that will play like she plays...like a little tomboy! She absolutely loves nothing more than to roughhouse with another fun dog! It's her favorite thing! An adult only home with owners that are not gone long hours during the day would be ideal! A home with a yard is not necessary, but she does love to go out and sunbathe and play outside with her friends. Josie will come to you a little shy, but give her the time she needs and this little love will open up in no time! Josie is spayed, vaccinated, and is microchipped. We only adopt in So California as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at: gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020

Story
H! My name is Tommy, and I am currently IN SOUTH KOREA living with a loving foster awaiting to be matched to a home in Southern California! A Lover Boy? Yes, that's who I am. I crave giving love and receiving love from humans. I will always be by your side, on your side, and be your sidesick! I love to cuddle and chill. Once you lay your gentle eyes on me, you will see my tail wag and I will want to be held in your arms. I will not let go of you... We will be best friends forever. My hair had to be shaven off because I was terribly matted when I was rescued. LA AUTO SHOW 2025 (November, 2025) I plan on being at LA Auto Show this year at DoVE Project's booth. If you want to meet me in person, please email info@dove-project for more details regarding the days and hours of DoVE Project's booth. See you then!!! FOR LIMITED TIME ONLY FROM NOW THROUGH NOVEMBER 30TH, TOMMY'S ADOPTION FEE IS REDUCED TO $600. ********************************* This dog was rescued in S. Korea from an abusive situation. Although S. Korea's new law banning the dog meat consumption is set to go into effect February 2027, and the consumption is all time low, the practice is still in common existence amongst elderly population especially in the rural countryside. No one could tell where this dog would have ended up. Thanks to the rescuers in S. Korea, this pup is longer in danger of getting trapped in dog meat trade! DoVE Project has rescue partners in S. Korea who have their own private shelter and/or foster network. Our dogs stay with either a foster family or a private shelter until they are matched with an adopter in the US. Upon arrival in the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and our adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form

Story
Coco Toy Poodle | Female | Born April 2018 Coco is a sweet, intelligent toy poodle with a lively personality and lots of energy. She is very active and playful, and does best in a home that enjoys regular interaction, walks, and engagement. Like many poodles, she is smart, alert, and deeply bonded to her people. She is excellent with her family and very affectionate once she feels safe. With strangers, Coco can be cautious and may come off as unfriendly at first, but she warms up with patience and consistency. She would thrive with an adopter who understands small-breed dogs and can give her time to build trust. Coco is spayed. She has a skin sensitivity issue and does scratch herself at times; this has been manageable but may benefit from veterinary evaluation, diet adjustments, or allergy management in a stable environment. Due to a recent change in our home situation, we no longer have the space or environment needed to properly care for a pet.

Story
Rachel is a loving, loyal, and playful girl who’s ready to find her forever home. After being hit by a car and left at a local LA shelter to be euthanized, her story could have ended there—but we stepped in just in time. She underwent double leg surgery and is now fully healed, moving around with strength and joy. Despite everything she’s been through, Rachel’s spirit is as sweet and joyful as ever. She’s a total people dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side—your shadow, your snuggle buddy, your constant companion. She thrives in a home where someone is around often and would love to be the center of your world. While she’s friendly with other dogs, Rachel is truly human-oriented and will bond deeply with her person. Because of her past injuries, she’d do best in a home with no or minimal stairs to keep her active life comfortable and safe. Rachel has so much love to give and is ready to share it with a family who will treasure her. If you’re looking for a loyal companion to fill your home with affection, playfulness, and devotion, Rachel is your girl.
